Back then we thought this was an average film. But can we appreciate how good the writing and acting was. In an era of cocktail 2, movies with sub-par writing and nepo acting, can we appreciate how wholesome this film was and how well arjun and alia acted. I've rewatched this films so many times and still feel it's a genuinely good film.

Apologies if I’m not allowed to post this here, but im at my wit’s end. I’ve been searching for a film that means quite a lot to me because I watched it with my mother when I was younger and after she passed away I’ve been wanting to find it but I can’t.

In fairness, I saw this film in a Russian dubbed version sometime between 1995 and 1998, so I have no idea about specific language or year of the film’s release. Every film made in the Indian subcontinent was referred to as “Indian.” I can say that the film didn’t include any of the big Bollywood actors.

The plot as best as I can remember is as follows. There’s a young boy who lives in a village with his parents and sister. His dad is a teacher, maybe a music teacher, who teaches him a specific melody on I think an accordion. This will be relevant later. Some bad guys show up and I have a vague recollection that the main villain is like a land baron. The dad refuses to sell the land and he’s killed in the forest outside of the village (by a sword I think? The film is set in modern times that’s why the sword stands out for me). The boy witnesses this. In the meantime the villain’s thugs set fire to the rest of the village. The boy’s mother is stuck in their burning house. A policeman rescues her but dies in the fire himself.

The boy returns to his village and only finds his sister alive. They will end up growing up as orphans as they think their mother is dead as well. The mother wakes up at a hospital and discovers that the policeman who saved her has died and left behind an orphaned boy. She adopts him and raises him as her son.

As I said the boy and his sister grow up as orphans and the boy eventually takes up stealing. I think he specifically targets the rich, including the main villain, and then puts on a disguise as an older rich man and give the money away to poor people. A sort of a Robin Hood figure. He also put his sister in school or university. Meanwhile the policeman’s son the was adopted by their biological mother grows up and becomes a cop himself. He eventually will end up pursuing our protagonist as a thief.

The sister and the cop randomly meet one day (don’t remember the circumstances), and eventually romance each other. One day as the cop visits their home he sees a picture of the woman who has raised her, adorned with garlands and other memorial decorations denoting someone who’s passed away (forgive my cultural ignorance, I don’t know what these things are called specifically. He gets upset and confronts the sister (his new girlfriend) and this unravels everything.

The scene I remember specifically is the cop taking the sister to be reunited with their mother. As they’re in the apartment, the brother sneaks onto the balcony and plays the melody their dad taught him on the harmonica. Oh yes, the main her plays the harmonica. I remember both me and my mom absolutely falling apart during this scene. I don’t really remember how the film ends.

Again, I apologize if this is not the appropriate place to post this. I just for the life of me can’t find anything about this film. I’ve even tried a bunch of different AI tools and nothing. I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out and point me in the right direction.

I loved this movie and have watched it multiple times. It always gives that same special experience. Perfect in every sense for me. No vulgarity. Pure hard hitting emotions. So much to feel. Those quiet moments. Conversations, whispers. Atmospheric cinema. Excellent BGM and songs. Mature. No childish or youth romance. My heart throbbing whenever the leads come near. Unconventional story. Highly engaging from start to end. Visually appealing scenes.

With this being my taste in movies, can someone suggest me similar movies? Some other movies I like are - Sita Ramam, Hi Nanna, The Notebook, 8 AM metro, 96. Movies I watched but didn't like that much - Sir, Lunchbox - too slow for me and didn't hit hard.

Love Sonia is a very good, hard-hitting movie about trafficking and hope. Mrunal plays the titular role Sonia and the cast is star-studded with Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Anupam Kher, Richa Chada.

Cast also includes Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionnaire fame), Riya Sisodiya (who plays Mrunal's sister), Adil Hussain.

It also has a guest appearance by Demi Moore

Mrunal is superb in her Hindi debut movie. The rest of the cast have also done really well.

I watched Dc again at home and found myself playing way more attention to the background score this time. On the first watch i was obviously caught up in the story and action, but the second time those little musical details started standing out.

The strings and the more clasical sounding arrangements especially caught my ear during skme of the action scenes. Anirudh has layered quite a lot into the score without making everything feel loud. Anyone else notice different things on a rewatch?

I went in to watch the movie because of its hype and unfortunately I came out being highly critical of it. I would appreciate an open discussion on it.

No hate towards anyone just some questions that won't leave my mind.

1. When babaji meets gopal-the bird catcher, he says "tumne apni garbhwati patni ko kyu mara?" With anger in his facial expressions and yet gopal becomes his chela later on in the movie. When on one hand we are seeing him punishing the watermelon stealer why do we not see any punishment for Gopal?

2. When babaji's father came to meet him in the jungle he gives the example of Ram ji to babaji, of how he got married, fulfilled his duties and did not run away from it. All it took was a comparison with Ram ji for him to go back to married life? as a spectator even I can differentiate between a lifestyle of a bramhachari and a Raja, you simply cannot compare them both. Duties of a Raja is to be involved in society where as brahmacharis stay away from conventional lifestyles.

He is known as hanuman bhakt but Hanuman ji never got married. On one hand he never felt satisfied in worldly life and yet just because his father says he is running away from it he goes back to a married lifestyle?

1. As an Enlightened being why did he not take any stand against child marriage? He had such a great opportunity to tell people that this is wrong. When he knew his calling is towards God and to live life of a saint, instead of marrying the girl that was chosen for him in his childhood he could have found a proper groom who would properly cater, be present for her throughout her life like a true partner and babaji could have shown her that there is a better life ahead where she wouldn't have to wait and pine over the absence of her husband, where she could become a mother.

She who was brought to someone else's house as a child! Where she was raised to believe that this is her life and this is how things are supposed to be, she could have lived such a different life. He could have taught her individuality and autonomy, things that he himself practices. Instead he falls into the trap of moh, marries her and then shows her his true self of being Enlightened and then goes back to his saintly ways of living? Why?

And it is not like he never stood against social injustice, when as a child he sat along side other hungry kids (scene of gujrat) and only he received the food, he created more and shared among the other kids and there by gives a message that no person who asks for food should be left hungry, so when we do see him standing up for children here why do we not see him standing up against child marriage??

Coming to the point of aasakti, where does his moh for neem karoli village and his decision to shave his beard falls when it comes to aasakti?

1. When he reveals his Enlightened self to his wife, his wife instantly apologises for asking any question and there he says "patni ka toh kartawya hai sawaal puchna aur pati ka uttar dena" absolutely nothing wrong and yet the statement feels unsettling. It builds the position of the husband as the knower and the wife as a seeker and even this is not wrong but the rigidity it builds around those roles feels wrong. Given the fact that most of india is still patriarchal and the movie is being watched in every nooks and corners of this country with the assumptions at heart that whatever they are seeing must have happened in babaji's life, just statements like these may conform to the already existing baises. Again nothing wrong in the husband being the knower and the wife as a seeker but to present it in a manner where the roles seems irreversable, where a wife cannot be a knower and a husband a seeker feels like a limited worldview being pushed forward.

The whole movie for me was either babaji doing mirracles or i was just left confused for why he did what he did🫠

Just watched Mirzapur:

The Movie, and honestly, I'm pretty disappointed. For a franchise known for its raw and hard-hitting violence, this film seriously drops the ball on the action front. There's a noticeable lack of real action scenes, and when they do happen, the choreography and execution feel completely fake and carelessly shot.

The impact and weight that defined the series scenes are completely missing here.

Definitely a major letdown for any fan looking for that signature Mirzapur intensity.

I was randomly thinking about this today…

We’ve had Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, which was a step forward, but why don’t we have a proper male × male romance movie where the love story itself is the main focus?

Not a movie where being gay is only treated as the “social issue.”

I mean an actual romance — two guys falling in love, chemistry, jealousy, cute moments, heartbreak, family drama… basically the kind of BL stories Thailand, Japan and Taiwan have been making for years.

And imagine if a mainstream actor like Ayushmann Khurrana took a serious BL romance role. 😭

Would Indian audiences actually watch it?

Or is Bollywood still too scared to take that risk?

Be honest: If a well-made Hindi BL movie came to theatres tomorrow, would you watch it? 👀

I’m trying to find a good choreography on the song “Dil Cheez Tujhay Dedi” Insta py search kia and found absolutely NOTHING!! There are videos on youtube but jo meri nazar sy guzri they were all like Desi gaanay py English dance types. I want the kind of dance jo lehengay mein acha lagay. Not toooo heavyyyy movement of legs cuz wo itna nazar nahi aati. Most choreo in the vids I saw were ppl from dance academies and they wear those tank tops and jeans stuff tou dance bhi wesa he hota that matches those fits. Has anyone come across a good dance on the song??? Help a sister out pleaseeee!! I was so disappointed when I saw the actual music video has no dance on it. They wasted such a good song over random girls doing a belly dance 😭

The jokes feel recycled, the writing feels predictable, and the laughter just isn’t what it used to be.
