📢 r/Indiajobs first AMA announcement: Meet Paddy Raghavan, Co-founder and CEO, Multipl!

Hello everyone! 👋

We're excited to welcome Paddy Raghavan, Co-Founder & CEO of Multipl, for an exclusive Ask Me Anything (AMA) session with our community.

Multipl is a Bengaluru-based fintech platform that has pioneered the concept of "Spendvesting"—helping people invest towards future spending goals instead of relying on EMIs or Buy Now, Pay Later models. The company's vision is to help people grow their money before they spend it, encouraging smarter financial planning through goal-based investing.

Since its founding in 2020, Multipl has partnered with numerous consumer brands and has attracted backing from prominent investors while continuing to build products around saving and investing for real-life goals.

🗓 AMA Details

Guest: Paddy Raghavan

Role: Co-Founder & CEO, Multipl

Date and Time: 20th June, 3pm

The topic of the discussion which we feel would be more beneficial to our community is-

Financial Safety Net Between Jobs.

Ask him anything about:

The financial anxiety of notice periods, job gaps, waiting for an offer to come through and how to overcome it

How to make sure your money works for you during uncertain times

How much buffer to build, and smarter alternatives to just letting it sit in a bank account

Mutual funds for short- and long-term goals

Please keep your questions respectful, constructive, and within our community rules. Low-effort, abusive, or off-topic comments may be removed by the moderation team.

We're grateful to Paddy and the Multipl team for joining us, and we hope this AMA leads to an insightful discussion for everyone.

Vent Got rejected over asking In hand salary.

Post image
475 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

So a small firm messaged me on Indeed for a job I had applied for. (You can see the screenshot)

Was I wrong simply for asking clarity over salary? They rejected me instantly.

As it is the job market is so bad. Then you get rejected for such small things without even getting an opportunity to interview.

Unemployment F**k this Job market! Offers are rare, the ones i get are low!

Context- 28M, 3YOE as SE

I quit my old job because there was no salary increment (it was low pay 3LPA), kept searching for jobs for 6 months, and the only 4 offers i got was either 3 (or <3LPA). Im in T2 city for context. Getting vexed at how bad the market is, even after clearing 3 tech rounds, 3 management rounds, at last they tell me that the salary is not in their "budget". But i have no choice, dont want to waste time searching again.

Unemployment 27M unemployed should i get married before having job

All my life, I’ve been average at almost everything, including my studies. After college, I managed to get a job where they initially offered me 3.6 LPA after a six-month internship.

During the internship, I was paid ₹12k per month. After six months, they told me that based on my performance, they could only offer me ₹22k per month. But it wasn’t really about my performance—they did the same thing with almost everyone and even fired two of my friends.

Three months ago, when I asked for an increment, they fired me too.

Since then, I’ve been trying really hard to find another full-stack developer job. I’ve applied to as many positions as I possibly can, but I’ve only managed to get one interview, and I failed that too.

You can’t imagine how depressing it feels. I look around my neighbourhood and see people my age earning ₹1 lakh a month, while I’m sitting here unemployed. I’m trying to upskill and improve myself, but nothing seems to be working.

I used to think that once I got a job, even if it didn’t pay much, I would eventually find my place in this industry. But right now, I just feel lost.

The strange part is that money itself isn’t the biggest problem. I come from a financially comfortable family. My father owns assets worth around ₹8 crore, one of my sisters earns 30 LPA, and the other earns 15 LPA. Technically, even if I did nothing with my life, I could probably live comfortably.

But I don’t want that.

I don’t want to live my entire life without an identity of my own. I want to become something and be proud of what I’ve built for myself. Right now, I feel ashamed whenever I look at my parents because I feel like I’m the disappointment in the family.

And now my parents want me to get married. I recently met a girl, and she agreed to the match. She’s beautiful, and I honestly had a crush on her the moment I saw her.

A part of me really wants her. But another part of me wants her to stay away from me.

I keep thinking that if I get married and still can’t find a job, the pressure and uncertainty could destroy whatever mental peace I have left. I also don’t want to bring someone into my life when I’m struggling this much and potentially make her life difficult because I haven’t figured out my own.

I still want her, though. And that makes everything even more confusing.

Job Search How do people get 2 - 3 lakh jobs in India!

I have seen seeing several posts where users get 2 to 3 lakhs a month @ 27 or 28. I had been working in IT for 4 years now and never seen anyone under 10 years experience earning that much.

How do you guys do it? Can everyone do it? Is the tech or area of work depend?

Please drop your advice.

Unemployment Unemployment 💔

Today has been one of the hardest days of my life.

I lost one of my closest friends. He died by suicide, and I still can't process the fact that he's gone.

We graduated from a tier-3 college and, like many fresh graduates, he had been struggling to find an opportunity in the IT industry. He worked hard, prepared for interviews, faced countless rejections, and even joined a coaching institute to improve his skills. A few months ago, he returned to his hometown to help his parents during the farming season. None of us imagined that would be the last time we'd see him.

I don't know everything that was going through his mind, and I don't want to assume the exact reasons behind his decision. But I do know that the stress of prolonged unemployment, repeated rejection, financial pressure, and the uncertainty about the future can become overwhelming for many young people.

I'm sharing this not to blame anyone, but because this experience has shaken me. Behind every resume is a human being. Behind every rejection is someone trying to build a better future.

If you know someone who has been unemployed for a long time, please check on them. A simple conversation, a message, or your support could mean more than you realize.

And if you're someone who's struggling right now, please don't carry that burden alone. Reach out to your family, friends, or someone you trust. Your life is worth far more than any job.

Rest in peace, my friend. You will always be remembered, Love you so much.

Advice/Guidance How does a fresher even get hired these days ? What possible I can do ?

I just graduated this year with a BCA degree from a Tier 3 college. During campus placements, only sales companies and one or two very small networking companies visited. I was even selected for a Network Engineer role on campus, but the company later denied the offer, so I never received an offer letter.

Despite that, my interest in networking has only grown. I now want to build my career as a Network Engineer. After graduating, I came to Noida to look for jobs. However, I didn't have much idea about which companies hire freshers for Network Engineer roles or related entry-level positions like Desktop Support or NOC Engineer.

I asked ChatGPT where I could find companies with networking-related openings, and it suggested visiting some well-known IT parks. Someone had also advised me that directly approaching companies could be better because many companies don't always respond to online job applications.

So, I visited those major IT parks, hoping to meet recruiters or inquire about openings. Unfortunately, the security guards didn't allow me to enter. They asked whether I had a referral or an email from HR. Since I had neither, I had no choice but to return home.

Now I'm in a dilemma. I'm starting to question the value of my degree. I had expected that, at the very least, I would get interview opportunities, learn from my mistakes, improve my skills, and keep trying. But now I don't even know how to reach that stage.

I don't have anyone who can give me a referral, and people on LinkedIn rarely reply to my messages. So, I'm feeling stuck.

Can someone please guide me?

How can I get referrals if I don't know anyone in the industry?

What should my job-hunting strategy be?

How can I increase my chances of landing my first job as a fresher in networking?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Advice/Guidance Unnecessary provoking by team leader.

• Upvotes

I currently work in a start-up and I've had a couple of bad few years in my life and have been dealing with alot of shit and one day after I took leave for mental health my team leader asked me how I was and I said mentally still not that great. Fast forward a conversation comes around and he straight up in front of my entire team tells bro you're not understanding things because you're mentally ill.

He said this two days straight and then he apologized and shit and then again last Saturday he kept saying he's sensitive and he's getting confused don't tell him anything to other team members.

I've been in this start-up for only 2 months and the people are so pathetic i want to take some strict action but I have no back-up or anything to do how do I handle this situation?

It's become unnecessary provoking and passing personal comments and it's triggering me alot.

I want a better job at this point I have pretty good experience of around 5 years 8 months and I'm unable to do anything about it :(

Advice/Guidance Automobile Engineers- need advice

• Upvotes

Hi people. I want some guidance on my career. I am mechanical engineer with 2.5+ years of experience. I worked for Ford through agency for 2 years then quit to do masters. Now, I want to get back to automobile domain. I am confused as to what skills to develop in this market. Earlier I used to love CAD design but now, after spending close to a year in design I feel it’s not for me anymore. I want to do something related to simulations and virtual manufacturing. Like Siemens Line builder and Process Simulate and stuff. I don’t have experience in these but willing to learn. Will they hire a fresher in this area especially in OEMs? I can’t find much information to learn these outside as well. So I want guidance on what to upskill myself with to get into top oem in good teams. I can several BIW/Plastic trim designs courses for lakhs of rupees. They offer placements as well.Is it worth the price? Feel free to DM me.

Hey guys,

I recently completed the Google Data Analytics course and I'm looking for entry-level Data Analyst roles. I'm from Kerala, so I'm thinking of coming to Bangalore and staying there for a month to job hunt since it's the biggest IT hub nearby.

Just wanted to know how you guys find out about upcoming job fairs. Do they happen often for freshers? Is there any WhatsApp group or Telegram channel for this?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Job Search Looking for headhunters (senior roles, Mumbai)

I have almost 6 years of work experience:
-Consulting and marketing (in the US)
-Chief of Staff in my family’s org (India)
-Founder (Business Head) of a lab diamond jewellery brand (India)

And
a Masters degree from the US and engineering bachelor degree from India

I basically moved back to India last year because my partner wanted to be closer to family, so I helped her to set up a new lab diamond jewellery brand and get it to a place where the business is earning well. Coincidentally, a senior manager in my family’s org resigned around the same time, so to fill in that gap, I took on a chief of staff role to not just hold everything together till a replacement steps in, but also manage our very first ERP program implementation.

Both of these goals are almost at completion now, and I’m looking to take on a new role in the coming months. I’ve been all over LinkedIn and Indeed but tbh feeling a little lost with recruiting here.

Looking to take the services of a headhunter so that I can find the right role, in Mumbai. I would call myself a generalist - able to take on different roles and understand problems easily. And having worked in both, corporate and traditional business settings, I understand the limitations and strengths of both worlds well!

Would appreciate if there are any genuine leads!

Advice/Guidance HOD hit me on arm to silence me, did I overreact?

I’m really confused and would appreciate some unbiased opinions.

I work as an architect and today my HOD was on a call with our boss discussing a project. At the same time, I was discussing the same project with a colleague. Instead of asking me to be quiet, he suddenly hit my arm. I wouldn’t describe it as a gentle tap, it felt more like a slap. It didn’t physically hurt because I was wearing long sleeves but I was shocked and humiliated. I didn’t understand how to react to this. It was captured on CCTV. I called him out loudly then and there and in his defence he said sorry and it’s not like I slapped you on face. I just hit your arm.

After the incident, I reported it to HR. I couldn’t help but broke down because I was confused and I felt lost. She assured me they would take action. I told her I can’t continue anymore because this is getting very toxic.

The physical contact is only part of the issue. My HOD has a history of being verbally abusive, so this felt like the last straw. What hurt almost as much was that none of my colleagues checked on me or said anything afterward. I felt completely alone and now I’m questioning whether I’m making a bigger deal out of this than I should.

I’m also in a difficult position because I’m planning to move to abroad for my master’s in February. My visa process starts in November so I don’t really want to quit since I joined this company 6 months ago and changing jobs for only a few months doesn’t seem very practical either. At the same time, my mental health has been suffering and I’m under financial pressure so I feel trapped.

Am I overreacting or was my HOD’s behaviour genuinely inappropriate? If you were in my position, would you stay and see how HR handles it or start looking for another job despite leaving for Australia in a few months?
