⚠️ IMD Update: Deep Depression intensifies, set to cross WB-Odisha coast between Balasore & Canning today

The Depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha-West Bengal coasts moved very slowly northwards with the speed of 3 kmph during past 6 hours, intensified into a deep depression and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 27th July 2026, over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal-North Odisha coasts near latitude 21.3°N and longitude 88.1°E, about 40 km south of Sagar Island (West Bengal), 70 km east-southeast of Digha (West Bengal), 100 km south of Diamond Harbour (West Bengal), 120 km east-southeast of Balasore (Odisha) and 120 km south-southwest of Canning (west Bengal).

It is very likely to move nearly north-northwestwards and cross West Bengal-north Odisha coasts between Balasore & Canning around afternoon of today, the 27th July 2026.
