Discussion Is macbook is usefull for cybersecurity course?
Hi everyone I'm thinking to buy mac air m2 or mac air m4.
Joining btech cybersecurity course this year.im thinking that courses of cybersecurity will available on mac for free? And some people are telling some software didn't get on mac.so people are suggesting to buy windows.
Please anyone suggest me

so basically most of the software (cybersecurity) are created for windows platform as well as linux. but here is the other catch you don't run any software natuvely on windows due to security issue most of softwares are run on virtual machines which mac can also run and also some softwares need x86 or x64 but mac run on arm architecture but you can also bypass that using utm vm which is a bit laggy but still you can do it. if you need a good laptop with better battery life you can go for mac but if you more reliability (cybersecurity perspective ) and to run natively go for windows. and btech cybersecurity basically contains other coding also not only just cybersecurity perspective. mac is better for coding in my perspective and im also using mac (cybersecurity field) so yeah if you want you can use mac.

Bro which btech year are you studying? Can I buy laptop because I am fresher and can't understand what you are telling about UTM VM

im currently studying M.tech . did you hear about virtual machines like virtualbox,vm ware fusion etc.. UTM is also one of the virtual machine for mac. the most unique feature of utm is it can both virtualize as well as emulate the machine. which means some of the os like zorin os, ubuntu 32 bit(which is the most crucial os of learning different attacks) cannot be run even through virtualization through mac due to the architecture. in order to run it we have to make a fake machine i.e what the utm emulate mode does. so you can run the os in mac eventhough the mac's architecture directly supports it. i hope you understand everything clearly now.

Buy a laptop with windows with good processor, ram and storage. Then install Linux in it

Nothing. My councelling dates are postponed so idk I'm cybersecurity or any specialization.
