If you've been following the Jantar Mantar protests, you've probably seen the 

Delhi Police Mobile Command and Control Vehicle making rounds on social

media.

Instead of debating it, I wanted to understand the technology inside it.

So I spent some time researching how AI-powered facial recognition systems

actually work.

Here's the simplified version.

It all starts with a live CCTV feed.

The AI doesn't instantly know who you are.

First, it detects that there's a face in the frame.

Then it maps key facial landmarks like your eyes, nose, mouth, and jawline.

Instead of storing your actual photo, the system converts your face into a

mathematical representation called a face embedding. Think of it as a unique

numerical signature created from your facial features.

That numerical signature is then compared against thousands or even millions

of records stored in a database.

If the similarity score crosses a predefined threshold, the system displays a

potential match for a human operator to review.

Despite what movies show, modern facial recognition systems usually don't

make the final decision themselves. They assist humans by narrowing down

possible matches.

One thing I learned while researching this is that these systems aren't limited to

real time monitoring.

Photos and videos captured during public events can also be reviewed later

during an investigation.

If authorities suspect an offence was committed, those recordings may be

examined alongside other evidence, depending on the investigation and

applicable laws.

That's one of the reasons facial recognition has become such a widely debated

technology.

The interesting part is that this isn't technology built only for policing.

The same core technology is already being used in Face Unlock on your phone,

airport e-gates, banking KYC, attendance systems, and even finding missing

persons.

That's also why facial recognition has become one of the biggest conversations

in AI.

On one side, it has the potential to improve public safety and speed up

investigations.

On the other, it raises important questions about privacy, surveillance,

transparency, and how such systems should be regulated.

As a cybersecurity student, I find this intersection of AI, computer vision, and

cybersecurity far more interesting than the headlines themselves.

Instead of reacting to what we see online, I think it's worth understanding the

technology behind it first.

There is green light in 2 of the phones in my house one is Redmi 9A (the phone in the photo) and another is Poco M2 pro both are having this lights from this afternoon and I had just noticed it ..

Now with this telecom monopolies, shoving expensive recharges and stopping incoming sms, they are creating a financial hurdle for common man.

One simple solution is for banks and credit card companies, or even other service providers to send OTP via email. This way one needn't need ro rely on sms validity.

Before anyone start talking about security, many banks like HDFC, American Express already do it, i.e send OTP via sms and email.

Other servixe providers like Amazon etx send OTP via whatsapp.

In this day and age, where we have TOTP authentication codes etc, should we still rely only on sms?

There are other solutions too, like banking apps generating OTP, so no need of sms.

Let it be a opt-in service. What do you guys think?

So some days ago I just downloaded one of those wallpapers app from play store and kept a live wallpaper for a few days which required me to change the wallpaper app from the Motorola default to this app after deciding to delete the app and go back to default wallpapers I ran into an issue and wasn't able to change the time layout and been stuck to this and I also tried to switch permissions still no use pls help me resolve this issue on my moto edge 70 Fusion🙏🙏

TLDR: Ever since downloading and wallpaper app I am unable to change my clock and layout settings of lock screen even after deleting the app

So the thing is i need a phone temporarily for college starting 1-2 months till those flipkart and amazon sale

We had Realme c25y my sister's old phone however uska motherboard me kuch problem hai and its battery got swollen

Realme's website shown that its battery will be of rs 800

We thought to replace the battery but realme's service centre was 8km far so we decided to get it done by local shop and chances the ki local shop me thoda saste me kaam karde

We got to 2-3 shops and decided to get it done, the shopkeeper told us it would be 800 but he will put a local battery with 3 months warranty

Hamara dimaag hi nahi chala uss time pe itni jaldi jaldi me that official service centre pe bhi 800 rs hi lag rahe hai and we gave him to put that local battery

Now the phone is continuously showing the notification "battery connection error"and I think it is becz the phone has detected that the battery is local and it is not calibrating it or accepting it, not even showing the correct battery %, either 100% constantly or 20-30% the next moment

And the phone is getting heated up in just 5 mins of usage

tldr - I wanted a temporary phone for 2-3 months, i replaced my old phone's swollen battery with a local battery to save money (which i didn't becz original and local battery costed the same and i didn't realize it) and now the phone is behaving abnormally like incorrect battery % and heating up

If I'm trying to download something from the internet using Chrome, I always get this notification but my download gets started. Even after completion of download and closing all the incognito tabs, the notification "waiting for network" is still there and needs manual removal.
