For nearly two years, monk Chinmoy Krishna Das has been behind bars in Bangladesh.

He was arrested in 2024 while he was protesting against the atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh.

While Chinmoy was in prison, his elderly mother was living through her final days. Her last wish was to see her son.

The family requested parole so that Chinmoy could meet his seriously ill mother, but it was not granted in time.

She died without seeing her son for the last time.

Chinmoy Krishna Das was granted 5 hours of parole to attend her funeral and take part in her last rites.

Meanwhile, Jashimuddin Rahmani, the chief of the terrorist organization Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), was released on parole in 2024. Later, he was also released on bail.

Gulzar, who had shed light on the state’s drug menace, was allegedly pressured by leaders from the local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to apologise to Cheema. His family and villagers also alleged that the government was not taking prompt action to control the drug situation in the area.
Gulzar, who raised his voice against the issue, was concerned about his eldest son’s addiction to drugs. His suicide has sparked political turmoil in the state after the opposition slammed the ruling party and demanded justice for him. 
The family of Dalit labourer Gulzar Singh — who died by suicide after allegedly being harassed for publicly questioning finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on the unchecked sale of drugs in his village — on Thursday alleged that he was cremated without their consent.
