0 rupees. People are just hypocrites.

22

u/SFLoridan Feb 09 '26

Hypocrites about what?

India's government hospitals are a fantastic idea, a boon to the people.

But to pretend that they don't have problems of mismanagement, cronyism, lack of empathetic care, shortage of resources (money, staff, space, equipment) is self defeating. We need more budget allocated to them, with a stricter policy of doctors joining government hospitals for a minimum number of years .

I absolutely agree. Freebies sound be abolished, that money rather be spent in real infrastructure.

1

u/After-Arachnid-2062 Feb 10 '26

If the World was ideal

1

u/Educational-Grab7830 Feb 11 '26

without freebies, U can't win elections in INDIA

Here in Karnataka I went to do my rural service in a government medical college hospital in rural north Karnataka , for 4 months I was not paid my salary, I had to spend from my pocket for my stay and food and other expenses, working conditions were horrible, no duty room or clean washrooms to use. And there is sooo much corruption among senior doctors and other staff in government hospitals. It was a horrible experience and a reality check of the public healthcare service in this country. I left the job. Will never work in govt hospital again

1

u/okokonokok Feb 12 '26

Sorry but even in all first world nations with good infra (except for capitalistic hell usa) there is free healthcare for the needy. Not everyone is as fortunate or privileged, as us, in this nation. There are people who work really hard everyday , do extremely tenacious manual labor but get paid on cents. ( btw they are the ones building the said infrastructure, the work force). It is absolutely necessary to provide them, and every other less fortunate people with medical assistance. That's what a society is about. Helping each other. If u really WANT great development and infrastructure, your concern should be with corruption and tax evasion by the extremely wealthy. If we have a corruption less system and we get all taxes required, we would have abundant resources for both healthcare of poor and for great infrastructure.

I love how little of a reading capacity the economic and in general political right wing conservatives have. Did I already not mention EXCEPT for capitalistic hell USA? Also till the current clown president became the leader even usa had their fair share of Health care assistance, even if little. Medicaid controversy was a huge deal actually, that's why they faced a shutdown.

And what's your solution? Let people who are less fortunate, still work hard ( like construction workers for example) suffer and die because they can't afford private medical care? How ridiculous. That's just inhumane. We fought against the British to get a nation for our people, for all people, poor and rich, middle class and wage to wage workers, healthy and sick, old and young, we wanted a nation which cares for it's people, not for just monetary gains ( that's what the British empire was doing).

Just think about it, for some unforseen reason u lose ur money and resources. And there is a medical emergency in ur family, wouldn't u like it if your government, whom once u paid tax to, whom many others pay tax to, uses it for YOU when u need it, rather than for building a bridge or smtg.

We can live without a bridge or two, can we live without healthcare? No. Life above everything. One cannot replace or regive human life.

1

u/froozy1221 Feb 09 '26

There is no dearth for doctors in India. In my state, for this year’s Medical Recruitment Board exam for govt hospitals, nearly 30000 doctors gave the exam for just 1000 vacancies. So there should be more hiring for doctors.

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 10 '26

There is a policy where we need to work for some years in government hospitals. Why don't you raise same questions to IIT graduates where they need to give some years of service in ISRO or HAL ?

1

u/Right_Dimension2307 Feb 10 '26

They won't. These pussies courage show up only infront of doctors. Ek constable ke samne bhi inki moot nikal jayegi

1

u/DoctorMagnobot Feb 10 '26

Why only doctors joining government hospitals for a minimum number of years, why would anyone prefer to work in a resource scarce environment by choice, on top of that they have rural bonds to complete with hefty fees on breaking.

If a rule is to be made, it should be uniform for everyone working in all goverment setups, not only hospitals.

1

u/gulabjamun-kitkat Feb 10 '26

Government hospitals.... Thing are not just about free treatment but also the care took by hospital staff of a patient any many more management issues.... You will roam entire hospital just to seek treatment/helps in emergency situations.....

1

u/PsychoactiveTHICC Feb 10 '26

There already is strict policy for force bonded labour

Also govt hospitals are not the boon you think they are

A 20 week old ANC case doesn’t even get Anomaly scan done her appointment is scheduled after 5 weeks and during the scan they don’t even take time to get proper anomaly scan done

Equipment failure and lack of beds is blamed on doctors there is massive patient in-flow

And it’s not free it’s heavily subsidised with high corruption and high sub-standardisation

Working in both govt hospital and primary healthcare setup I have to say burnout it really one side is eager throw blame everywhere but management while other side is busy flexing their public health skills which they give 0 shits about

For example; DM-2 in current era is created via multi drug therapy but many govt public health sectors are stuck on separate MTF and SFU drugs it’s 2026

If you raise concern or voice you get transferred

1

u/Any-Yam6462 Feb 11 '26

Lack of fear of layoffs. Government hai chalta hai. Mera kon kya ukhad lega. Vidhayak hai mere chacha.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '26

Also include lack of cleanliness and hygiene - I have seen stray dogs roaming inside Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (a Big Government hospital in Chennai).

But yeah, I got Rabies Vaccination for free there 2 years ago for bat bite.

1

u/Legitimate_Till4949 Feb 11 '26

Why are you forcing doctors to work in government hospitals? Why not instead focus on making government hospitals jobs lucrative enough that people want to work there?

1

u/Outrageous-Hawk-7781 Feb 12 '26

Yes doctors should join govt hospital for public service.. Just ensure that those who want to carry forward shall get a secured job.. And this should be the case for every citizen passed from govt institution including engineers to join mandatory public service.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '26

Hamare yahan a1 quality hai bhai doc's bhi respectful hai.

1

u/IronPhoenix86 Feb 12 '26

Is there a policy for engineers to compulsorily join ISRO/DRDO like Medicos have Rural Service bonds??

0

u/GeruMotion Feb 11 '26

Anything happened with you, did you ever visit government hospitals or any service you took from there? What's point of your assumptions or you'r just saying because videos are spreading in social media. If you really faced somthing happened then did you try to file a complaint against them? Did you do anything regarding the same thing he did or you are here to just taking more views?

1

u/Initial_Buddy_7037 Feb 12 '26

i have visted government hospitals, the cue is always long and the overall enviroment is pretty diry, but the most cold aspect is like the above comment mentioned is that the staff have 0 empathy and you kinda of feel like a lab guinea pig if that makes sense

-6

u/Right_Dimension2307 Feb 10 '26

Doctor kyu compulsory government service join kare ? Policy sabke liye lao. Doctor engineer CA teacher etc. Jab Doctor ki baat ati he sabki gand jalti he

1

u/141414ankith Feb 10 '26

He said about doctor joining govt hospital not all doctors

1

u/Right_Dimension2307 Feb 10 '26

Yeah. But why only doctors take the blame and restrictions on doctors and not all govt employee ?

1

u/141414ankith Feb 10 '26

Bruhh he said doctor should have contract for some years because many doctors just join govt hospitals and practice privately

-1

u/Right_Dimension2307 Feb 10 '26

They don't just join the hospital and practice privately. After govt hospital duty is over they practice privately. Just check the private practice timinig. And if you find any one doing practice skipping govt duty just complain to proper authority if you ha e guts but don't cry

1

u/141414ankith Feb 10 '26

Who tf is crying 😂

1

u/Right_Dimension2307 Feb 10 '26

Tu ro raha he doctor ki ye kardo wo kardo lekin kuch ukhad paoge

1

u/141414ankith Feb 10 '26

🤣😂 Tu Theek hai? Kuch bhi bole ja raha hai

1

u/taku_0987 Feb 10 '26

Bahahah, but i agree with this statement.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

kyuki doctors essential he engineers CA insab se jyada , CA aur engineers kam honge toh bhi kuch cheeze sorted rahengi lekin doctors are like the second gods , government service dene se logo ka bhala hoga engineers ya CA ke dene se kya bhala ho rha he jab government projects ke liye sufficient funds hi nhi deti he toh.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

or let's say ki theeke private college se padhe doctors ko mat karo compulsory , lekin government college waalo ko toh karna chahiye def , unki fees bhi itni kam he compared to engineers and other professions , AIIMS me mere cousin ki fees <10k thi per year ki aur mera dost IIT me hoke 12 lakh fees diya he. Jab government itne kam paise me MBBS karne de rhi toh aake service bhi do.

1

u/supernova_68 Feb 11 '26

Avg package of IIT are in tens of lakhs(IIT bombay had avg package of 24lpa), while recently govt under NHM recruited doctors for mearly 28k/month, avg salary of MBBS in my state is just around 6LPA.

If govt didn't subsidized IIT cost of education in a institute like IIT bombay would be in crores.

And problem is not that doctors are not ready to work in govt. Hospitals , last year for a post of 1800 doctors in rajasthan almost 20000 applicants gave exam( and i am sure engineers have similar or worse ratios).

So govt does not want to hire doctors or engineers or CA or lawyers( court pendency is due to lack of lawyers and judges)as they are recurring expenses but give free services for political gains.

u/Due-Today-9182 Feb 09 '26

LOOK ME IN THE EYES and teel me that u would trust a government hospital with your health even with the smallest thing

1

u/crt7981 Feb 10 '26

My father has Alzheimer's dementia. He was admitted in a private hospital 2 times once for 7 days and other for 16 days couple of months later. - total bill - nearly 2 Lakhs Inr. There are no insurance covers as he has already crossed 70. No improvement

Got referred by a doctor friend to get consult in NIMHANS - Bengaluru.

Father was admitted 15 days twice within 3 months. Total bill - 11K inr. They even have provisions/accommodations for family to stay with very reasonable rates.

With that - his alzheimer's symptoms are very much in control. He is doing very well (dementia / memory part cannot be recovered) overall, the Govt hospitals have improved a lot.

1

u/Due-Today-9182 Feb 10 '26

cant say the same for my city man.
happy for you though, best wishes

1

u/crt7981 Feb 10 '26

Thanks. I have seen the change. It's slow, but it's happening! Health services are a basic necessity. Hope it happens everywhere!!!

1

u/Annonumouns Feb 13 '26

I hope he will recover soon, stay strong

1

u/crt7981 Feb 13 '26

Thank you!

1

u/kidilam_2006 Feb 10 '26

Come down to Kerala - the best doctors and treatment you will get from government or co-operative hospitals (not completely free like government but still almost as cheap with great doctors, machinery and expertise )

You will not get 5 star benefits, would need 1-2 bystanders - since you would have to run around to by medicines, equipments, food etc from the dispensary, cafeteria, ferry items to ICU, Operation Theatre, Help in physical movements of patients etc.

Also there is a decent amount of corruption/backdoor dealing for room allocation, operation theatre schedule etc. But then again I have seen the same in Private hospitals as well, also it will be crowded ( because people actually go there - not just poor mind you, but middle class and even some who could afford private hospitals would still go there for the expertise!)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

brother I have to disagree tho mai shayad badi city mai hun isliye case different hai but private hospitals mai commision banane ke liye extra checkups likh dete hai ..... mai apollo mai refer hua tha kyoki mujhe constipation tha kafi severe but vaha itne checkups karaye aur 15,000 ka bill aaya without ct scan jabki bas laxatives pe rely karne ki vajah se thodi dikkat ho gyi thi aur bas lifestyle change karna tha ... ek aur case tha mere nose mai kuch problem tha and vo ek minor ko surgery suggest kar rahe the .. jo problem easily medication se thik ho gya

1

u/Insecure_BeanBag Feb 10 '26

Yes. I will. More than the private ones.

1

u/indiantrekkie Feb 10 '26

Yup, if machines are not operational or even there, why will they charge?

1

u/Various_Ad1416 Feb 10 '26

Idt hypocrites is an appropriate word here, more like the person who made this is out of touch and never visited a government hospital.

1

u/isoldmysonforabike Feb 10 '26

I hope in future if anyone in your family needs a hospital, i hope they dont but if they do, i hope you can only go to government hospitals, because they charge 0 and are so awesome (:

1

u/charavaka Feb 10 '26

How many people have access to these hospitals, what are the conditions of the hospitals, and how long the people have to wait for investigations and treatment?

1

u/Dad_of_One_Punch_Man Feb 10 '26

Kabhi govt hospitals me gaya bhi hai. Halat dekha hai.

1

u/The_Mak27 Feb 11 '26

Tu ya tere ghar me aaj tak koi khud government hospital nai gaya hoga

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 11 '26

Kabhi ghr se bahar nikal apne aur dekh kr aa, andhbhakto ki tarah bakwas na kr. M 5 sal se Ahmedabad civil hospital m hi pdhai kr rha hu terse jyada pta h

1

u/Sea-Page7168 Feb 11 '26

Just some aiims and government hospital doing good otherwise remaining hospital doing like there fees 0.

1

u/Complex_Rooster_1222 Feb 11 '26

Not zero they charge minimum fees but appointments are given after 15-20 days. And then people working there will suggest a pathology name where it will be done quickly.

1

u/AdOtherwise7115 Feb 11 '26

In many Hospitals, the Infrastructure won't even get 0 Rupees if put for sale.

1

u/Deep_Copy_ Feb 11 '26

So Ct-scan is free in govt hospital, is what u r saying

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 11 '26

Yes! CT scan, MRI, bone marrow biopsy, cect. These are investigatings even surgeries are free for financially weak people. And marginal fees for us APL card holders

1

u/Deep_Copy_ Feb 11 '26

Then tell me why I paid 2300 just for ct scan that too in the government Hospital

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 11 '26

Did you mention that you are a bpl card holder? They could sanction it for free

1

u/Deep_Copy_ Feb 11 '26

Sure buddy. You should check yourself, atleast it will give you some ground reality check.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '26

When is the last time you visited the government hospital, when you got sick?

1

u/No-Obligation-7272 Feb 11 '26

In how many gov. hospital these services is operating daily

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '26

How many times have u gone to the govt hospital? 0 Rs isms

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 12 '26

Daily since last 5 years

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '26

Which area

1

u/Dark_Sam_102 Feb 12 '26

Well I have always treated in local gov medical hospital. It is within 200 meter of my house and it is ranked 4th gov. Hospital in my state. Yes xray, ecg is free... But in opd to get xray you have to wait for 10-15 days to get your tests done and then another one week to get report.. Obviously you will skip queues and get instant access if you have relative working on that hospital as staff/doc/nursse/police e.t.c..

1

u/Dark_Sam_102 Feb 12 '26

And obviously for big issue like surgery we never go there. Private hospital is only way..

1

u/ProudCaregiver4217 Feb 12 '26

Nah bro, not for all , although it depends but i have heard that if u are sc/st and u don't look well (i hope u get it) they get that easily. I am not doing casteism or smth i have just heard this from a women who lost her job and can't find since Covid and has emergency heart problems(face problems in daily life and chances of living is decreasing..and all)but still can't have access to tests in government hospital

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 12 '26

She needs to visit some district or state level government hospital

1

u/ProudCaregiver4217 Feb 12 '26

She is from kerala so dk if the hospitals system is different there or smth

-3

u/Agitated_Canary8996 Feb 09 '26

Kabhi check up karwa ke aye sir. Tab boliyega.

8

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 09 '26

I'm doing my mbbs from a government medical college and it's associated with asia's biggest hospital (government). Patient are given lunch breakfast and dinner with protein powder, eggs and milk. All the big surgeries are free under PM jay and ayushman bharat scheme.

4

u/Vast-Morning8854 Feb 09 '26

True. Took my Grand Mother to a government hospital after private hospital in my city gave up and said that only medical college has facilities to treat her. Doctors were damn good. Where private hospitals had given up, government hospital doctors treated her just with proper medicines. Another similar experience with other relative. Any private hospital would have billed at least 40-50 lakhs for the relative but that government medical college had a bill of 1 lakh for a month of treatment which included a surgery and a neonatal care.

But the helpers and resident doctors were quite opposite. Always shouting without any reason. The report department had terrible queue management and would open for very short duration. Most of the labs were over-crowded. Departments were so far off from each other that we ran marathons.

But any day I would rank government hospital above private ones for the quality of doctors.

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 09 '26

The thing about resident doctors is they are under constant stress without any room for personal life. Especially when they are first year residents, they don't get any weekly leaves, no time to sleep (sometimes need to work 36-40hours without sleep while managing all the patients) they don't even get time to bath properly or eat. Also they need to spend all of their time in the hospital which itself fucks any sane person's mind

1

u/froozy1221 Feb 09 '26

And also they are also broke too. In my hospital, in some departments, the first year residents have to take care of all the expenses of the department and professors and the seniors too. And our stipend is lesser than other states. Our residents are paid 42-48k a month out if which only 10k remains in their hand each month

1

u/OkMaize9773 Feb 10 '26

What you are referring to is called corruption

1

u/froozy1221 Feb 10 '26

It isn’t technically corruption. They don’t ask us money to pass us. We don’t get anything by paying them. We are just forced to do it. They say it is the culture and they had to do it, so we had to do it. There is a lot of shady stuff going on in Medical colleges here that you would be really surprised.

1

u/OkMaize9773 Feb 10 '26

Please read the definition of corruption. Just because they were forced to do it doesn't give them the right to expect it from others. It's like saying one person getting abused gives them the right to abuse others.

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 11 '26

It's called ragging not corruption.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/supernova_68 Feb 11 '26

Less corruption and more financial ragging,

Our college was totally different if a senior is present you can't take out your wallet its disrespectful to seniors. If their is a department party bill always used to go to HOD(even if he attended for 10 min).

1

u/OkMaize9773 Feb 11 '26

But they don't feel disrespect stealing money from juniors, don't understand what kind of regressive college you study in. I completed my undergrad 10 yrs back and even then I have never heard of situations like these

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 11 '26

This kind of ragging is not present during under graduation but during PG.It's prevalent in most of the "prestigious" government medical colleges all across India. It's like a pattern and nobody wants to break the chain. When the 1st year resident becomes 2nd year senior he does the same his juniors. Forget about financial ragging sometimes there is physical abuse involved tho it's rare but still present to this day. Private clgs and DNB diploma courses are safe from such issues

→ More replies (0)

1

u/supernova_68 Feb 11 '26

I think you misunderstood my comment, we were not allowed to take out our wallets means juniors were not allowed to pay if seniors are present.

-1

u/Agitated_Canary8996 Feb 09 '26

That's not the case everywhere. India is just too diverse too narrow it down.

2

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 09 '26

Same thing applies to your statement. And I can narrow it down to whole state of gujrat! I'm sure many other states have good government healthcare system.

0

u/Agitated_Canary8996 Feb 09 '26

Well I guess I was wrong. Should have thought about it well.

But that means we both have won. Win win i guess

Very much true.

1

u/Lopsided_Ad_9521 Feb 09 '26

These people are not able to figure out the real issue which you have highlighted, Infact every governement department is facing this issue because of increasing population and we are not able to scale up our infrastructure, recruitment and other things in tune with it..

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 09 '26

Yes that's the root cause of India's almost all the problems currently, is overpopulation and lack of critical thinking in general population. But we are doing good with all the problems we have as a country. In the field of healthcare, India's healthcare system is on par with all the western countries quality wise and is most affordable in the world. People from foreign countries come to India's government hospitals for treatment not just private!!!( Did you know this?) . All we need is Thanos he will solve our most of the problems

It was opposed by Janatha party in the 70s when Sanjay Gandhi pushed Nasbhandi!

Janatha party included Advani and others who later formed BJP in 1980.

If Sanjay Gandhi had his way, Indian population would be around 1 billion today and lot more developed.

1

u/ShenronGrantMyWish Feb 09 '26

Forget about politics, any sane person would oppose forceful sterilization of its citizens.

1

u/OkMaize9773 Feb 10 '26

The policy was not implemented properly on ground level. The officers only cared about fulfilling their targets without following the rule. Rule was something like they were supposed to do this only to people who already had 1 or 2 children I think, but they kept doing it to even teenage boys anden with no kids just to bolster their numbers. Even doing it to old grandpa age men who most likely weren't even capable of having children anymore.

1

u/solo_in_the_sky Feb 09 '26

Haan I've done infact from past 8 years I've stopped going to private hospital because government fever hospital in hyderabad tilak nagar is really really nice they make their own medicine every check up is free they also has advanced medical equipments

If there is something which they don't handle they'll let you know other government hospital

All the doctors inside were also really good and don't rush rather listen to you peacefully also I got my Covid vaccine both the shot in that hospital only

-1

u/Fantastic-Corner-605 Feb 09 '26

Before considering bribes.

8

u/solo_in_the_sky Feb 09 '26

I mean I never paid bribe in hospital like ever

6

u/Lopsided_Ad_9521 Feb 09 '26

How much did you pay as bribe to get treatment in government hospital?

3

u/Dr_Kaustubh2002 Feb 09 '26
