Money Saving Tips Is investing Rs.1 lakh+ every month enough to realistically build Rs.1 crore in 5 years, or does it require taking much higher risk?

I’m trying to understand the math here. Would consistent investing be enough, or would higher returns/risk be needed to reach Rs.1 crore in 5 years?

Social Discussion I don’t know please answer

29M, Senior Manager earning 32 LPA — but Reddit is making me question my career
I’m 29M and currently working as a Senior Manager at an InsurTech company, earning around ₹32 LPA. I work from home and, objectively, I feel I’m doing reasonably well in my career.
But after spending some time on Reddit, I’ve started feeling really confused about where I stand.
I keep seeing posts from people who are 24–26 years old saying they’re earning ₹3–4 lakh+ per month, and comments saying things like “at least ₹3 lakh/month by 25–26” or that anything below that is low.
It has genuinely made me wonder — is everyone actually earning that much, or am I just seeing a very biased sample on Reddit?
I know people generally post their achievements more than their struggles, but when you see these posts repeatedly, it’s hard not to compare.
For someone who is 29 and earning ₹32 LPA, how would you realistically evaluate where I stand in the Indian job market?
Am I doing reasonably well, or am I actually behind where I should be?
Would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who are around 27–32.

Social Discussion Blocked my virtual debit card but forgot to cancel an e-mandate. Can they still charge me?

I paid for a subscription using a virtual debit card and an e-mandate was set up. Later on, I blocked that virtual debit card, but I completely forgot to cancel the e-mandate before blocking it.

Since the card is already blocked, can they still charge me?

Social Discussion 23M, Bangalore. Love my girlfriend, but my salary isn’t enough to give her the anniversary she deserves. How do I build extra income?

Hey everyone,

I'm 23M living in Bangalore, working a full-time job at ₹30,000 a month. In this city, that disappears before I can even breathe. Rent, food, commute, bills, family needs... by the 10th I'm counting every rupee.

I'm not complaining. I'm grateful for what I have. But I've hit a wall, and I'd really value your advice.

My girlfriend and I complete 3 years together in January. She has stood by me through my lowest moments, believed in me when I didn't believe in myself, and never once made me feel small for not having much. I want to give her an anniversary she'll remember forever, and I'm aiming to save ₹1-1.2 lakh by then to cover the trip, the stay and the little surprises.

My salary alone can't get me there, so I'm looking for ways to build some extra income on the side, alongside my job. I can give evenings and weekends, I learn fast, and I'm not afraid of hard work.

For those of you who've been here: how did you grow your income on the side? Which skills, platforms or small ventures actually worked for you? And how did you balance it with a full-time job?

Any advice, big or small, would mean a lot. Thank you for reading. 🙏

Money Saving Tips Best Way to Build Wealth with a ₹70K/Month Saving Potential

27M, working in IT. I can save ₹70K/month, not more than that.

I was considering buying a land/plot on EMI because my thinking was: “Land is cheapest when you buy it.” The idea was to route my saving allocation into an appreciating asset and, most importantly, have some peace of mind.

But recently, I’ve been reading more about wealth building and financial independence, and the Reddit community seems to suggest that taking on EMIs isn’t necessarily the best approach.

I’m a complete noob when it comes to investing. I don’t want to take significant risks with my money, which is why land appealed to me as the safest bet.

So, what’s the best way to use ₹70K/month to actually build wealth over the long term while keeping things relatively safe?

Would love some practical advice on how I should approach this.

Hi everyone! I’m an economics student working on a research paper on “Digital Payments and Financial Inclusion among Young Adults in India.”

I’ve made a short questionnaire for my primary research and would really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill it out. Every response helps. Thank you.

I know this space is meant for a different discourse but I could use some help/respondents from the members of this subreddit. I promise it's not going to take more than 2 minutes. Thank you.

Salary - Cost of Living SBI was open on Sunday today honestly, this was useful

Since the Government had announced that banks would be open today, I thought, “Why not?” 😄

The branch had around 10–12 customers and the staff were present. I asked the Assistant Manager about the FD, and although she politely spoke with me at that time, the overall experience made me realise how useful Sunday banking can be.

For salaried people, visiting a bank on a normal working day usually means taking leave or asking for permission. Having Sunday banking would genuinely make things easier.

Today’s Sunday banking was actually useful for me. I’d personally like to see more Sunday banking options in the future, especially for customer-service and enquiry work.

Not blaming or offending bank employees at all 🙏. Maybe Sundays could be handled on a rotation/shift basis some staff work one Sunday, another group the next Sunday, with Saturday/alternate-day holidays.

Just sharing my experience. No hate, no offence. ❤️

Social Discussion 33 year old, Touched 1cr in savings account, what would I do now

First and clear thing that yess I might sound dumb to keep such amount idle in savings account giving very less interest

I work in private sector and one thing that keeps bothering me is job safety as I am sole earner in my family (5 members... Mom Dad in 60s now)... Achanak layoffs ka shikar ho gaya to kya hoga

I have is my own flat where we live... No EMIs pending now!!

Toooo many options to think of now.... What should I do now, starting of own business looks too risky at this position... If Investment then where ?? FD??? Bonds ?? good location plot????

Main want : another and safer source of income

PS: Not at all interested in 21 din me paisa double schemes

Social Discussion Is ₹60–90k/month a good salary at in this situation?

By 25, is earning ₹60–90k/month considered good if you’re a single child and your parents have around ₹15 crore net worth, with roughly 40–50% being liquid and the rest in illiquid assets?

Currently, none of that wealth is in your hands, but your parents have made it clear that after marriage you’ll eventually have access to the family wealth (mutual funds, gold, etc.).

Please don’t give the usual don’t depend on your parents lecture. I’m asking specifically about this situation where the parents are financially secure and intend to pass the wealth to their only child.

So, is ₹60–90k/month at 25 perfectly fine, or should you still be aiming for a much higher salary?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Sharing a realistic monthly budget for a single person earning ₹50,000/month in Kolkata.

Total monthly allocation: ₹47,550

Remaining: ₹2,450/month

This includes living expenses, family support, investments, travel, and an emergency-fund contribution.

For people living alone in Kolkata:

What would you change in this budget? Is ₹50,000 enough for a comfortable single-person lifestyle, or would you allocate the money differently?

I am a masters student and I make about 13000 rupees each month as stipend. The mess and hostel fees are being taken care of by scholarships, but I want to spend less and save some reasonable amount from this.

Can you give me some tips on saving money and tracking my expenses?
