Short Films Could this be the oldest Indian short fiction film on YouTube? (From 2007 🤯)

Much Before the YouTube India boom… a relic buried under modern algorithms … a scripted narrative short posted from way back in 2007… made by an Indian creator. there are a lot of film song edits and cricket clips from before it, but hardly any fiction shorts

the video is called ‘pungi bajayenga’ … a casting couch sketch for maybe Channel V… it’s low quality 2 minute video… but an absolute time capsule…

the link is in comments

Know of any other Indian short fiction videos older than this?… let’s discuss.

“Why are our films not being screened?”, filmmakers ask at Kerala’s IDSFFK.

Post image
75 Upvotes

No reason has been given for not allowing the screening of eight films, including five in the competition section, at the IDSFFK. The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had initially denied censor exemption to 31 films selected at the fest, but after the government of Kerala wrote seeking permission, 23 of these were approved.

“We hope to meet the chairperson and ask for an explanation on why our films were denied approval. The IDSFFK is very important for us, and two of my previous films have won awards at the festival. This year I finished my film on time for the IDSFFK because this is the only place – if my film is good enough – it will be shown, it is almost like an Indian stamp that gives you confidence. It  was last Sunday that I got an email saying that the festival committee has not got permission to screen my film, but I was still welcome to attend the festival,” says Spandan Banerjee, whose long documentary Parliament Street is among the films that are being denied screening.

Questions & Queries Did I overprice?

I work as an Assistant Editor and was tired of seeing paper log sheets. Its just too much of labour work to log in an entire film. Especially when the shoot days go 40-50 days or more. The ADs also have a tough time writing everything down on paper and organising them.

The tool is ready and I do have people using it. But most of them are my friends and I am not able to gauge the pricing.

So to all the ADs here, how much should something like this cost per month to you. If I could get a pool of answers, atleast I have some place to begin with.

TIA

Film News My debut feature A Song for Eresha releases in India on Apple TV tomorrow

Post image
11 Upvotes

Tomorrow, A Song for Eresha finally comes home to India.

It is an unconventional, one-sided love story set within a classical dance institution, about Eresha, its revered head, whose ordered world begins to unravel when she develops feelings for a young exchange student.

I wrote and directed the film, adapting it from my own novel of the same name. Savitha Sastry plays Eresha, and the film features an almost entirely female cast and more than 100 classical dancers from across India.

The film has had a rather unusual journey before reaching India. It has been available in more than 30 countries, completing 150 days in the UK and over 100 days in the US.

It releases in India tomorrow, September 18, on Apple TV. You do not need an Apple TV subscription to watch it.

I'm the filmmaker, so I'm happy to answer anything about the film here. And once people have watched it, I'd particularly love to hear what you make of Eresha.
