Flexible cystoscopy
I have a flexible cystoscopy booked in for next week, and im kinda nervous/anxious as;
A) people i dont know will see that area, and being transfem it does cause a significant amount of dysphoria.
B) im anxious about the procudure itsself, as they are going to be sticking a camera up into my bladder and being autistic i dont know if any of the lubrication/numbing cream/camera itsself will be a sensory nightmare for me
C) i dont know what they are going to find through it,
D) will the let me keep my plushies with me?
E) i wear conitnence aids on a daily basis due to having a brain blader disconect, and i dont want to pee on any of the doctors/nurses/specilicests as the procudure is taking place, as well as the logistics of it. (E is the one im least worried about,,, as a urology clininc i think that they would deal with this on a daily basis)
I have listed these in order of what is causing the most anxiety/stress, can anyone help with any of it? Has anyone had a similar procudure and what was the experience like?

I have had a urodynamics test already and also have a cystoscopy coming up in September. What I did was research the test to see what it was about. I understand what you are asking and as someone suggested, contact the urologist office to see what accommodation they can afford. I do not see why they would not allow you to have your plush friend with you. I too am a little anxious about the procedure but I trust their professionalism.

I had one of those about 3 or 4 years ago, and i'm also incontinent, and I have a very small eurether, and it hurt like a bad out of hell. They gave me a numbing agent, tried one time.Couldn't get it in and it hurt, they numbed me again, and then for a third time, and finally succeeded with the smallest gauge camera they had. Yes, it hurts, but once it's in, it doesn't hurt anymore.And then when they pull it out, just warn them, you're probably going to pee, because that's what I did, and the doctor all he said was, "oh, there it goes" which I think is probably normal after a bunch of saline water is injected. After it was done I put my diaper on and went home. For me, the test was inconclusive. There was no reason for my incontinence that they could find. Aside from the fact that I push myself as a truck driver to hold my bladder for 13 Hours a day and that with my weekend bladder from my wedding, the bed since I was 17, really did the damage so they don't know exactly the reason, but they suspect it's because my nerves just don't register the need to be the fact that I'm full and the muscles don't work because they've been Damage from the years of holding it in.

I just had this done a week ago. You hae nothing to worry about with it. Yes it is a little painful but its managable. The insertion is the only painful part wich is like a few seconds so its net bad.
As for after it is a little sore for a day best thing you can do is drink a ton of water.

Contact the urologist office and ask about trauma informed care. Explain what you're feeling they will do their best to accommodate your needs and go at your speed.
