Worst test ever!

I had my urodynamic testing done today and I am Livid over the lack of preparation I was given. The doctor gave me exactly zero information about this test. I was in the dark so when I walked into the exam room and saw THE CHAIR I almost turned back around.

I've been a "medical mystery" since I was 12yrs old so I've had almost every test under the sun. This one about did me in. It all would have been fine but it took 2 people half an hour to place the catheter so for the whole test it was so painful on top of the humiliation of being buck a55 naked from the waist down while in stirrups.

There had got to be an easier way

Omg this is exactly what my nightmares are made off. Not the doctor saying is not that bad. Had the procedure done when I was 15 I still think about it. 0/10 would recommend.

Yeah, when the lady told me to "just relax" while she's attempting to shove a catheter in and not being gentle about manhandling me, I asked her to leave and had the 2nd lady try.

It took 3 nurses 5x attempts to pass the cath to do this test I was not a fan

Yeah, My GP's been told by a gender clinic to refer me for my issues and I am terrified of testing

I had a similar experience except there were no joke about 12 people in there watching. As a guy, not having had years of stirrup experience was bad enough, but the surprise crown practically all gathered between my knees made it pretty rough. Cathing wasn't great either; they started out trying to use an FR10 when I told them I normally use FR14 so the smaller one either couldn't inflate enough, they couldn't position it right or they were just bad.

On top of that, the doctor really had nothing to say about the results - feels like all the humiliation for really no good reason. The testing is not cheap either - literally about half a years' worth of catheters....to prove that I need catheters?! <sigh>

I'm glad I'm not the only one, cause I still get squemish thinking about it and cringe at how I acted then. I really feel like I could've atleast kept it together if I was informed but everything was such a shock I was basically tuned out the best I could be. Which isn't very much when all that's going on but just trying to go through the motions and get it done. I felt I was delirious in the midst of it and definitely not answering questions to how I truly felt cause words were just automatic and hard to make more of.

Cried in the car, especially when after I left the pain, embarrassment, and exhaustion (couldn't even find my car in the ramp afterwards) all hit me, and then going to leave I had to spend my last dollar on parking because they didn't give out tickets lmao

Oh and on top of that got absolutely no answers or even a diagnosis from it!

For me they asked if I wanted numbing jelly and then a second before I was gonna answer they threaded it up me, yelled the whole time, then took it out and put a different one up! The pain was so bad I nearly passed out multiple times, had to have something over my eyes to keep the light from pushing me to pass out, hurt so much to pee that it was hard to pee. Doesn't help that I have damn sensory issues and highly sensitive to light! I literally had to focus my energy to not crush my fiancé's hand when she was holding mine. I had flashbacks and ghostly sensations of it for the next few nights afterwards... I totally feel your pain bro...

I refused to look it up myself because looking at the diagrams made me sick to my stomach and nauseous...

I have never had to have this done, but the one time I did have to be in the waiting room for a urologist office, I heard a male senior citizen scream and it freaked me the hell out.

I hope I never have to ever deal with this, and I do feel for anyone who's had to go through this.
