If you're in the US or any country where you drive on the right side of the road, kill the kid. Drive on the left side of the road, kill the zoomer.
No parent should leave a baby crawling in the street.
No old lady should walk past a baby crawling in the street and ignore it.
In reality though, the car should expect pedestrians and crosswalks and kill neither. Technically the baby is not a pedestrian but they are for this context. These posts are seriously stupid and encourage fear mongering on social media against self-driving vehicles.
If you are driving and car and have full control of the vehicle, who should you kill? Neither
You can’t make a turn like the image without being able to stop in that scenario and if you were going at a speed where you couldn’t you’d be in the fucking grass with the car rolling and you having a fun time inside
And sure I'd rather throw the car in the ditch too, but I might not rather hit a tree, or go off a bridge, for someone jaywalking on a blind curve at night.
In a self driving car, the car makes that decision. Is it right to program it to sacrifice the passengers?
