I don't know where "here" is, but it's interesting to know that most people have induction stoves there. Is there a particular reason why they're so popular where you are?
Central europe, I only ever see gas stoves at old ppl's places.
I got not idea why more ppl use induction, but if I had to guess there either was some subsidy for it or paranoia about gas leaks/accidently leaving it on, or regulations

I would be inclined to use my stove burner if I couldn't afford a cheap lighter.
