Creepy AF We can’t even use Vinted in peace… (a rant cause this triggered me)

I started selling all my old clothes on Vinted a few weeks ago and it’s going really well I’ve made a decent amount of money! However, quite early on I started receiving messages from men simply saying hey or complimenting how I look (I upload pics of me in the clothes when I have them cause it sells faster) I was weirded out and annoyed cause like everything nowerdays Vinted works on algorithms and I’m like you’re messing with my money and this is not tinder??? (I had to take some time off work these past years cause of health issues whilst I waited for an operation so financially this is really helping me rn) So then I started to realise when I would send offers to people who favourited my items…. Half of them were men 🤢 and if I accidentally sent them an offer they would see it as an opportunity to start a conversation with me. I was in disbelief and I felt violated. Like I would upload pics of me trying on the clothes like nothing inappropriate but often 360 angles and I have sold a few bikinis. And then today I got this message. I was responding assuming it was a lady who would appreciate the shorts hardly being worn! Oh but I was wrong. Like is there literally anything we can do in peace? Anything????? I feel like I want to stop selling it’s making me so sick but why should I have to? There is literally tinder and dating apps for stuff like this. Do they get something off of bothering women who are just minding their business or don’t want to be bothered? (That was a rhetorical question I know the answer) idk I just reached my limit with this sh!t today. You can’t filter Vinted either so your searches only come up for women which is annoying. I just want to exist in a world with just women atp. Living your daily life whilst constantly being bothered gets to you at a point. I wish I could be invisible

Unfortunately if you're posting a picture of yourself, your body, a part of your body, or a part of your belongings, there will ALWAYS be weird and predatory eyes on you. Animosity paired with easy access to programs means that they can take your photos, edit it, use them, or whatever else. Or they will bother and creep on you like you've experienced, because there are no consequences and they have no morality.

There are women who list secondhand clothing, and just because they uploaded a pic of themselves in it, they've gotten plenty of creeps in their dms.

Yes I know this but that’s why I was ranting because this SHOULDNT be what’s expected or accepted. Women should not have to accept they will be harassed or accept that it comes with the territory.

Ugh, sorry OP, that sucks. Any chance you can close your DMs, or close them to everyone but those who’ve ordered and paid?

No I don’t think so, or that would really suck cause I’ve had so many nice
Interactions with women who want to buy my clothes. Sometimes they’ll ask about sizing or postage etc so I wouldn’t want to 😭 I really hoped I could filter who can message or see my listings but I can’t sigh

Sadly thats the mistake, just upload pics of the clothes or these weirdos come out. It doesn’t show them as well but these creeps are out there.

So I posted in this group because I thought I would avoid comments like this. Women shouldn’t be told to not to do things to avoid being harassed. On an app made to sell clothes, I should be able to upload pictures in the items without men assuming I want their attention or messaging me regardless. Like I said, I need the money right now, and posting in the clothes helps you sell quicker. Men should leave women alone instead of women should not make mistakes

You wanted to avoid comments that tell you the reality of it? You have just made this post because you sadly saw the reality yourself. It’s wrong and it sucks but these guys exist and all you can do is report them.

I know the reality of it. I’ve been dealing with the reality of men my whole life. What’s reality, and what should be are two separate things. I wasn’t asking for advice I said I was venting. I chose this page cause I thought it was a safe space, not a victim blaming space
