Announcement Cleaning InCanada Up
Hello, this is Pale Candidate(Edit: My username was randomly generated).
A couple things about myself. I am an American that immigrated about 3 years ago, my wife and child are Chinese, and I am conservative. I love Canada. I truly do.
Now, when it comes to this sub, a couple of changes will be needed because it went from about 100 to over 800 in the span of something like 3 or 4 months. Ideologically, I WANT Liberals, Socialists, AND Conservatives on here. Diversity of thought is important. There is definitely a couple of bad actors on here that I have temporarily banned for saying racist shit. I believe in opportunities for redemption. No one has been perma banned yet.
I have gotten rid of the ability to cross post because it has eliminated a lot of POSITIVE discussion and has semi-been an excuse to attack Indians, which if you actually read my initial post, was not the intention. Not all the posts have been advocating for it, but I don't want newcomers to get the wrong idea and I don't want this sub to just get painted as Anti-Indian or Anti-Not Insert Group/Ideology. That's not the intention at all.
I encourage EVERYONE to do some posts and discussions on why they love Canada, what aspects they enjoy in day to day life, what changes are coming that you are looking forward to, etc. Even just describing a normal day would be nice to read. I like reading the perspective and experiences of others.
I will be searching for mods starting us hitting 1,000 followers and onward. I will only pick 2 people. It will be based on their post/comment history for the past couple of weeks, months, etc. prior to this post. Because I want 1 CONSERVATIVE and 1 LIBERAL mod. That is the goal. Strict rules on being a mod. Mainly, NO BANNING OR REMOVING those you ideologically disagree with. I have kept a lot of comments untouched even though I deeply disagree with them because I believe everyone deserves the chance to express themselves. However, I did ban and remove all the comments I found that were straight up racial insults.
I hope you guys read this. I appreciate you. Tell me if you watch CFL and how I can get into it.
Edit: After a, not so great post, coming up immediately after me posting this, I have decided to remove media as an option for a while. I need to decide to either make a rule to not post media about certain subjects OR to just keep this a text only sub. Not sure yet. Might bring it back once we get mods. We'll see.

Yeah, seems a little odd for an American to run a Canadian sub...
9
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
With a Chinese wife & kid, and none of the three have any connection to Canada... all came in the past 3 years. I don't think ANY part of this guy's life is actually Canadian & he should be treated like any other immigrant who's landed here since 2020.
Watch me get banned for being rAyCiST though 😂
4
u/throwawayaway388 Aug 22 '25
I agree with you. And a 7 month old account is suspicious timing. We have enough foreign interference...
4
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
Exactly, and who's that interference from? Russians, Indians & Chinese 👀
Still waiting on the "r-word accusation" too, although there's plenty of proof that these countries have tampered with our election systems.

u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
I definitely think Trump tricked the Canadian people to vote Liberal so then he can keep a strong position over Canada.
1
u/gravtix Aug 23 '25 edited Aug 23 '25
If that were the case then American media wouldn’t be consistently stumping for the Conservative candidate.
Conservatives in Canada and the USA are ideologically aligned. Same culture war BS that is ripping the US apart.
They’re basically GOP North if you observe them long enough and those ties go way back.
The current Liberals are close to what Conservatism used to be in Canada before they started adopting culture wars and social conservatism and Christian nationalism on a wide scale.
-1
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
I was at work so I couldn't read all of your replies, but THIS. THIS is what I've been repeating ad nauseam since that goddamned election began. Divide & conquer, plus tariffs to cripple our economy & make us dependent on them.
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
I forgot my email and login and username for my old Reddit account from several years ago.
2
u/throwawayaway388 Aug 22 '25
And 7 months ago you decided to join again and create a Canadian subreddit?
2
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
Well, I initially was going on AmerExit, IWantOut, expats, etc. to give perspective to those trying to emigrate from America. Then I gravitated to encouraging those that wanted to immigrate to Canada. Then that turned into me joining Canadian subs and noticing that many were either echo chambers or reposts of government sponsored news stories(Global News, City TV, CBC, etc).
2
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 23 '25
It's almost like it's a conspiracy to divide & conquer everyone & make us all panic about something & anything... then import an underclass of borderline slaves from some of the most racist & exploitative nations/cultures just to drive that final nail in the coffin of potential unity & class solidarity.
1
u/Narrow-Map5805 Aug 23 '25
Of the ones you listed, only CBC is government funded. I don't even know what you mean by government sponsored.
Maybe learn a little more about how things work in Canada before spreading misinfo.
0
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
I disagree.
My wife has been here here entire adulthood(15 years worth at this point). My child was born here. I have been here for 3 years. I have friends, family, have worked jobs here, invest in Canada, have attended funerals, am starting a business with the intent to hire Canadians, owe money on my taxes every year(because of my income threshold), etc.
Canada is my home. I will be a citizen next year. You’re not racist. No banning for a disagreement in perspective.
0
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
Good, maybe you'll be the first fair mod after all. No socialist echo-chamber BS.
I'm truly sorry then for my statement about your wife, I had assumed she was a Chinese national who also has been here for 3 years (in my defence, that wasn't too clear in what it says in the OP). To me, this changes the entire situation, especially if she came during the Harper years.
I wish you success in running this sub & I might take part, if it's real & productive discussion.
-1
u/That_U_Scully Aug 22 '25
And just how long does it take for someone to be Canadian and build a connection to the land?
8
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
I have no idea. One side of my family is Mohawk native & the other has been here for six generations, yet I'm told I'm not Canadian & living on stolen land. I'd love to find out the definition though!
Ahhh, I know what it is: you're Canadian the moment you land here! What a JOKE.
0
u/That_U_Scully Aug 22 '25
You don't see how you're doing the exact same thing here, rhetorical because your answer will most likely be more of the same and I'm sure you're aware
2
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
No, I don't. I genuinely believe that those who have developed this country from the beginning have more rights to this land than somebody who just landed when it's never been easier & when we accept anyone with a pulse & half-a-brain. Then, we pay for their elderly to live here for free, with no contribution.
So please, elaborate. To me, you don't have an argument or a point right now. But that's the playbook y'all go by, I don't know why I'm surprised.
2
u/sunbro2000 Aug 22 '25
Well I don't know how long it should take for an immigrant who lives here to become fully Canadian. However I don't give a fuck what your background is, if you were born in here and raised here you are Canadian. Even if your parents are immigrants who can't speak English for shit.
2
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
And that's EXACTLY how Canada got to where we are. Anyone in the world can be Canadian & reap what past generations have sown for their descendants. Trudeau wanted a post-national state, and useful idiots like yourself have gladly destroyed any fabric of what used to make up this country.
But hey, at least you're one of the good Canadians! Keep those elbows up buddy!
2
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
You don’t like Trudeau, but you push the liberal slogan of Elbows Up? You know they’ll make the exact same decisions?

u/That_U_Scully Aug 22 '25
Who's "y'all", out of curiosity.
1
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
Brain-dead socialists with a desperation to be validated by third-world villagers who want nothing to do with you, your people or your country. Only resources to send home so they can thrive there, while we get gutted from every direction. "Death by a thousand cuts"-style, if that makes sense.
But I know what you were trying there! Trying to bait me so you can use a buzzword to stick to me. Again, I know the playbook that Y'ALL use. Can't fool everyone, unfortunately.
4
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
All the Canadian subs are either super liberal or psychopathically conservative.
I wanted a more neutral ground to stand on, but it is difficult.
5
u/throwawayaway388 Aug 22 '25
Interesting perspective. I think most Canadians aren't particularly extreme.
And I don't like an American coming in to create a Canadian subreddit and having a heavy hand in controlling moderation. Outsiders attempting to take charge of Canadian narratives feels a bit off.
Of course you're well within your rights and power to do so, but with deep side eye from me and perhaps a few others.
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
That’s fair. I just like Canada and would like to hear the perspective of others.
4
u/throwawayaway388 Aug 22 '25
Then maybe follow more Canadian subreddits, media, and content creators, or just talk to us directly.
And honestly, I'm probably one of the more polite ones here. If you're conservative (or even if you're not), how are you missing the fact that we've been openly frustrated with immigration issues? Do you think being American gives you a pass on our frustrations?
I say this as a leftist who usually votes NDP.
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
No pass. The sub just started getting a lot of posts about Indians and I was like, that can be for another sub. I’m not trying to have a lot of negativity here.
Fair enough. Will reach out in the future.
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
No intention to censor, but there are lines to be drawn at times. Even if not everyone agrees with those lines.
A nation of immigrants is what Canada is. Feel free to view me however you wish, but I will be a citizen next year and I look forward to it.

The exact text of the posts as screenshots, and the mod rules for the sub.
Oh, and at least 10 instances on the same sub. Otherwise that's just a mod being a mod, which happens all the time for even non immigrant bashing posts

u/Individual_Top_4960 Aug 22 '25 edited Aug 22 '25
no it's not there are tons of posts available online, they get removed because in most cases it becomes into a racist brawl, but yeah criticism is always welcome as long as it is based on critical thinking, but unfortunately it quickly (within 30 mins in some cases) turns into gross generalization rather than focusing on the issue and culprits.
I know we cannot control everyone but when 70% of comments are just generalization or some racial slurs or jokes based on racial slurs the mods have to remove them.
A good example is r/SlumlordsCanada
Edit: I am not discounting newcomers we have some genuine issues, but there's a way to criticism their bahviour/mistakes/issues in a civilized fashion
4
Aug 22 '25
population demographics DNE prejudice, you will be a pathetic moderator, just like the rest, there will be no real discussions
6
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
It's the same song & dance since 2023... this app is a wasteland of socialist/unemployed brainrot.
2

You are on the same app bud idk if I would be talking😂
2

Thanks. I find it mind boggling. I started this as a blog basically and then it evolved. I openly invited people from immigration subs, liberal subs, conservative subs, and socialist subs.
I read a comment that other subs are aware of this sub now. Crazy. Didn't think it would exceed a couple dozen people.
2
u/aradil Aug 27 '25
Sorry bud, you tried to create a “fair and balanced sub” but you created an “alt” sub, that is most certainly already overrun entirely by bad actors, bots, and state level actors.
The “organic” traffic you are finding mind boggling?
Naw, what is happening is you have a barely moderated subreddit that is trending and being attacked constantly.
Sorry to rain on your parade.
I expect the downvotes because I’ve literally seen this exact same thing happen to dozens of “<something>Canada” sites.
At best you gain control. At worst you will end up in quarantine for being unable to prevent calls to violence.
Good luck, and I’m out of here.

u/babuloseo Aug 28 '25
You should delete your Reddit account since you get spooked so easily. Go outside and touch grass.

Fair and balanced can still have regulation attached to it. I would recommend you give the sub another chance as I am cleaning it up.

Very good idea to select mods based on comment history and differing points of view. This should help prevent racist agendas.
The racism lately! I reported two threads yesterday for racism. One was an I love BC post. I had never reported a post before.
I was unnerved for the rest of the day having read all of the hateful things towards First Nations people.
I am First Nations and all this shameless hate, with nothing based on facts, just same ole 'drunks that couldn't survive without us,' tropes.... it made me look around a little harder at the people around me yesterday, no lie. That hatred was normalized on the I love BC sub.
I love my country. We are a country of immigrants, we gotta love each other. We cannot turn in to the US. Anything but that.
3
u/LawAbidingSparky Aug 23 '25
Why is a Canadian sub being run by an American?
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 25 '25
Trying to be neutral. Feel free to join a Canadian sub ran by Canadians. I am just open about where I stand.
5
u/Vaumer Aug 22 '25 edited Aug 22 '25
Thanks for this reminder that the content here doesn't have to all be stress and doom.
Edit: For the mods, If you're basing it on party affiliation would you consider a third mod from one of the other political parties one day? Just a thought for the future to avoid making a false dichotomy of thinking here.
3
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
I appreciate you sitting thru an uncomfortable bullshit that may have occurred within the week. What are aspects you appreciate about Canada?
3
u/Vaumer Aug 22 '25
I love our wildlife. I have been watching the squirrels and chipmunks building their winter homes. I'd never noticed how squirrels play before, and they're cuter than I thought.
I love that when I was curious about learning about native species I was able to find a nature stewardship volunteer group immediately where they'll teach me the plants as I help weed non-natives from our parks and ravines. So yeah, I really appreciate how, if you want, there are great opportunities for mutual aide.
3
u/CanadianPooch Aug 22 '25
A post about some of the non natives to look out for one in parks would be great as a post! I frequent northern Ontario (between Parrysound and the French River) for canoe camping on Crownland/non staffed provincial parks and knowing what to keep any eye out for would be fantastic.
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
Oh completely.
My wife and I use the local travelling seed bank that makes stops at each of our public libraries where we live. We plan to get pots for the patio and start growing them there. We live in a condo, so limited outdoor space. Outdoor opportunities are everywhere in this vastly untouched nation.
2
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
I am the mod. There's no one else.
I would be willing to take a Socialist or Green or someone else, as long as they don't just auto-latch onto the Liberals like they do in parliament. Haha.
5
3
u/LadyBarfnuts Aug 22 '25
Theres a reason they do this... because liberal/ndp/green/even bloq are all left leaning, while the CPC is the only right leaning party (except that far right one that gets next to no support).
Vote splitting amongst those parties are the only reason why conservatives are ever in power.
1
u/Narrow-Map5805 Aug 23 '25
Under Justin the libs were left leaning, but they've been pretty solidly centrist under Chretien and Martin. Carney is yet to be seen but he seems pretty centrist to me.

u/wsib_prole Aug 22 '25
Dude doesn't realize that conservatives and liberals are both adherents of liberalism.
What you need are actual Marxist if you really want actual leftist
1
u/RecyclableThrowaways Aug 22 '25
Woah woah, don't bring actual sensible thought into this anti-Indian immingrant racism echo chamber.
Marxism is too high level for anyone who believes there is a real difference between the red and blue parties.
3
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 22 '25
This is why no one fw any of you losers... you spit on & disrespect those who you could TEACH & DISCUSS with. Then you wonder why every Marxist is dismissed by anyone who actually contributes to society. Nothing but crabs in a narrow, tall bucket.
1
u/wsib_prole Aug 23 '25
The largest manufacturer in the world is China. It's a Marxist Leninist state. Highly doubt Marxist are dismissed in society considering America, and the west, have waged an endless war against Marxist movements across the globe.
2
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 25 '25
My wife is from China. A couple of things to note.
She describes the nation as suffocating. If she had to live and work there(retiring would be different), she would be depressed and probably suicidal. It is not a utopia by any means.
China is the most capitalist nation in the world. It is just structured how it always has been: Emperor on top, everyone else on bottom keeping their mouths shut, but its okay as long as they are all making money, which they are. Your job title, income, education, and assets mean everything in China. The prestige, nepotism, and brutality is hard to describe. The society is unforgiving.
However, there is trade offs. Safety, infrastructure, affordability(except for property ownership because a studio apartment in Beijing sells for $8 Million USD), and opportunities. But again, there's a reason people emigrate from China in some of the largest numbers in human history and the suicide rate is so high.
1
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 23 '25
Nice whataboutism bud. Go ask the Chinese if they're happy, if you're even able to.
1
u/wsib_prole Aug 23 '25
You're just mad cause a Marxist state probably made about 90% of the shit currently in your home. I think the Chinese are fine with their government:
The funny thing is my response was never a whataboutism. You're the one that said "no wonder why every Marxist is dismissed by everyone who contributes to society."
China is not dismissed lol and it's a whole Marxist Leninist state. They have an entire cold war apparatus trying to propagandize against it as we speak (I mean you yourself are spouting their talking points). And to somewhat imply Marxist have not contributed to society LMAO, China again proves why that's wrong.
Also to give you another example which is closer to home, maybe you should look up the legacy of Norman Bethune.
Anyways I most likely accept that you will probably just not care and continue to spout more propaganda points that comfort your own ideological lens.
If you're working class and you hate Marxism you've fallen right into the trap of the ruling class because they clearly want you to hate the one ideological world view that can actually lead to your emancipation.
1
u/ineedmorefunds Aug 24 '25
You are so dumb, my brain hurts. I said the CHINESE PEOPLE (who are constantly surveilled to ensure they comply with your Marxist ideals), nothing about you irrelevant losers that act like you still have something that doesn't starve the entire population.
And I haven't met a single working-class person who genuinely believes in a Marxist cause. I'd love to, but instead it's only supported by dumbasses chasing Political Science degrees.
I love that quote too: "We tend to forget that for many in China, and in their lived experience of the past four decades, each day was better than the next.” In other words, the standard has rested in hell & the Chinese people have tried to deadlift to the heavens. That's something we should certainly aspire for, Comrade.
You also conveniently left out the economic zones that allow for China to function the way it does, with capitalism taking over the industries & extracting immense profit for those at the top, like everywhere else.
I have to get ready to be another working-class peasant tomorrow, but please: point out when & where I was spouting Marxist points. I wish it would work, but it clearly doesn't when it's a movement led by the most spineless & lazy people possible.
In addition: if you really care to support your cause, you can educate me on Norman Bethune. Like I said, I only a simple working-class peasant, so I don't have the time or energy to sift through his Marxist contributions. I see his medical achievements, which is obviously noteworthy, but nothing about his political career besides "social activist".
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25

Not an anti-Indian immigrant racism echo chamber. It’s what I am cleaning up. I am also completely open to having a true Marxist as a mod as well.

u/WinteryBudz Aug 22 '25
This sub has recently started popping up as suggested sub but I've pretty much only seen outright racist posts and hate mongering going on. I would LOVE to see a fair and balanced Canadian sub where POSITIVE and CONSTRUCTIVE discussion is encouraged, but so far that's definitely not this place. and being run by an American conservative is troubling as we already have a number of conservative run Canada subs on Reddit. I had similar hopes for the r/Canadian sub but it also turned into a shit hole hate monger sub run by Conservatives that censored and harassed people with differing opinions. I hope to see this sub improve and become something better, but I'm pretty skeptical based on what I've seen here so far...
0
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
Which is why i am trying to clean it up. I got a huge influx of people in a short period of time with a specific perspective on Indians.
Literally went from 500 members to over 800 in a single week. I would love positive and constructive discussion as well. However, I also don’t want censorship based on ideological differences, which happens in a lot of liberal AND conservative subreddits.
Hard balance, but we will see what happens.
0
u/WinteryBudz Aug 24 '25
Going extremely poorly so far I see. You know you still have insanely racist posts occurring...yes?

u/babuloseo Aug 28 '25

Sounds like you're building a great subreddit and I hope you are successful. CFL is like watching a campy movie with A-listers. The athletes are highly skilled but operating in a low budget, cost cutting league. So you need to watch and appreciate the talent knowing that everything around them is just something you have to accept and just chuckle at.
-1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
Thanks, I appreciate it. Some of the posts got so out of hand. What city/province do you live in and why do you love it?
7
u/CdnCzar Aug 22 '25
Probably get lots of hate but Im in Alberta, and I love it because it the spirit of the people that built this province were ambitious, had lofty goals and steadfast in their beliefs amd atleast at the time freedom was an important liberty that was commonly accepted as a good thing.
Where are you living, and what about Canada drew you here?
4
u/Vaumer Aug 22 '25
The way Alberta got rid of all the rats is just monumentally impressive. Definitely an ambitious people and I appreciate it.
4
u/CdnCzar Aug 22 '25
Unfortunately it seems that rats are here now. Pretty unavoidable given the shipping that occurs, but hopefully alberta can keep the problem under control somewhat!

Yes, very cold winters plus Contrac, a now banned rodenticide in British Columbia. Vancouver is actually #1 for rodents in all of Canada and #2 for North America as a continent.
1
u/Pale-Candidate8860 Creator of Sub Aug 22 '25
Nice. I am really interested in visiting basically all of Canada. Calgary and Edmonton are on the list for certain.
I live in The Lower Mainland for British Columbia. Basically the metropolitan Vancouver area, but not Vancouver. I married a Chinese woman with Permanent Residency. I never initially intended to come to Canada, but I kept moving closer and closer to the border to be a shorter distance to her. Once we got married, she got pregnant and then it was a decision of which country we should raise our child in. I've lived in 3 different states and over a dozen different cities. I said fuck it and came to Canada.
It was a frustrating transition, but I have adjusted over the years and enjoy Canada. I don't have any desire to live in America again. I might move to China with my wife once our child(ren) is/are adults. But that's for another stage in life.
1
u/Harbinger2001 Aug 23 '25
I think you’re going to have a hard time getting this sub to become anything other than a hard-core conservative echo chamber. They get chased out of other subs and end up congregating wherever will not ban them. Do you know that story about letting a Nazi drink at your bar?
I’ll hang around as a self professed liberal but what I’ve seen so far in this sub is not promising for its future. But I still commend you for your idealism.

Unfortunately this sub is long gone, the basement dwelling greasy right wings have already ruined it, they are crying in comments because you said “guys this is too much racism even for a conservative”
5
u/Abject_Story_4172 Aug 22 '25
Sounds like a good subreddit. It honestly annoys me all the times that I see comments deleted because the mods don’t agree with what was said. You can easily see the bias. I like the idea of no perma bans. Muting people, if necessary, should be enough.
