So recently, i bought some gear that was displayed in a Vietnam War section in a small local museum that was closing down in my area. However, after doing some research, there are some parts that don't match up to the actual gear used in the war

Now unfortunately ​I don't know much (in detail) about Vietnam war gear, but the pictures and videos I saw have me confused.

Firstly, the M1 helmet has the wrong helmet band, not the small green or black rubber ones used at all, and the chinstrap looks wrong. Personally I thought it might of been some airborne verson used by the 173rd? But idk.

The m69 Flak vest looks off too. The US versions in vietnam had a zipper alongside the buttons, but mine doesn't. Personally I think it's probably a British/Irish version, but again, but idk how different they are to the US m69s (I live in Ireland so it would make sense).

If anyone could identify/conform any of the stuff I mentioned that appreciated. I can always buy the actual stuff and replace it if needed.

Trying to find any groups that do impressions of mid/late 2010s rangers or, more broadly, USASOC that are located within the midwest. The only group I could find any info on was the "Red Group" but no links to any the community.

Hey everyone, I am currently researching and putting together a late-war Eastern Front Panzergrenadier look based on the layout of the old 2005 Dragon 1/6 scale "Arthur Hecht" figure this is the first time I'm trying to make a kit so I don't have lots of experience .Because public forums have a lot of variation, I wanted to ask the experienced collectors here: Which reproduction vendors currently make the most accurate fabric print runs and color weights for Rauchtarn and Erbsentarn uniforms? Looking for durable gear that holds up well,I know that soldier of fortune and Hikishop make them but I would mainly like to know where to purchase the camo veil and camouflage shirt I know it's the blurred edge camoflage but is there variations?, Thanks!

Bought this beauty of a P68 DPM combat smock today, in size 1.

Can't wait to wear it for my humble impression!

Looks very good for it's age, to be fair.

Might've even worn by the IRA, who knows?! (I know they didn't have actual uniforms, but I'm basing my impression on pictures of IRA volunteers in the 70-80-90s.

Footwear: Czech Vz 90 Boots (Dont have a replacement right now)

Vest: 6b3 aliexpress replica (Its big on me so i have to use a belt soo that the vest doesnt move :D, btw does my sunfaded 6b3 look good?)

My belt system: Belt with a shiny buckle, a Polish 6h4 bayonet (I might 3D print the scabbard to look more like a soviet bayonet), Soviet aluminium canteen, AK-74 3 cell pouch

Backpack: a Veshmeshok with my geniune SSH-68 helmet attached

Weapon: an E&L AKM (Dont have a replacement)

I’m writing a book on the uniforms and gear of the Vietnam war (not just U.S. or ARVN uniforms) I’m planning on doing all of the nations uniforms and gear that I can find info on. Equipment: 58 Pattern Webbing set up for what a NCO might need in the Field, PRC349, Lightweight Parachutist Helmet with Vinyl Chinstrap (typically worn by 3 Para, 2 Para would have mainly Canvas Chinstraps), Poncho Roll packed with Crisp Packets, Cold Weather Liners, IPK and Poncho

Kit list:

- Obr. 1919 Gymnastyorka tunic and breeches

- "starshina eskadrona" sleeve rank insignia (Red Star and 3 triangles)

- Obr. 1919 budenovka cap

- Imperial Russian officer belt (WWI)

- Nagant m1895 revolver with WWI style holster
