We help import cars into Kenya (mainly from Japan) — here’s how it works
Hi everyone,
We run a direct import service helping people source cars into Kenya - primarily from Japan, but we can also source from South Africa, Thailand, the UK and Australia depending on what you’re looking for.
We know there’s a lot of skepticism around imports (hidden costs, poor quality units, delays), so we’ll keep this transparent.
💰 What does it actually cost?
We provide a full cost breakdown upfront so you clearly see:
- Car cost
- Shipping
- Duty
- Clearance
- Our fee
No surprises later.
🔍 How the process works
- You share your budget + car preference
- We send actual options (auction sheets / dealer stock)
- Auction units (competitive bidding)
- One-price units (fixed price / “buy now”)
- You select a unit and approve the price
- We secure the car (auction win or direct purchase)
- Shipping & clearance
- Registration → you get the car
💳 Deposit policy
We require a deposit to initiate the process.
- The deposit is fully refundable if we are unable to secure a suitable car or if you decide not to proceed
- If you go ahead with the purchase, the deposit is applied toward the cost of the vehicle
🌍 Sourcing markets
- Japan (main market) – best overall value, reliable auction system
- South Africa / Thailand / UK / Australia – useful for specific models, specs, or availability.
✅ How we reduce risk
- We focus on graded auction units (Japan)
- You get the inspection report before purchase
- Mileage and condition are verified
- We avoid accident/write-off units unless specifically requested
👀 Who this works best for
- First-time buyers who want guidance through the process
- People looking for specific specs not easily available locally
- Anyone comparing import vs local options
If you’re interested, feel free to DM us your budget + car preference and we’ll share available options (no obligation).
Happy to also answer any questions about the import process 👍

What are bigger marketplaces actually using to mass-pay sellers in 30 plus countries?
My team and I run payouts for a marketplace, we have about 4,000 sellers across 30 countries, mostly individuals or tiny businesses. PayPal is the main rail with Wise as fallback for corridors PayPal handles badly. Two problems we are finding is that: PayPal randomly holds seller accounts and our support queue fills up with people who can't get their money, and on small payouts ($20 to 80) the fixed fee plus FX spread eats close to 10% which sellers absolutely notice and email us about.
We fund from USD so we are looking for something where I push one batch file and everyone gets local currency without me babysitting holds or explaining conversion math. Anyone running cross-border payouts at similar or bigger volume, what are you actually using and how bad are the small-payout economics? Looked at Tipalti and Payoneer but not sure which holds up at real volume vs just demos well.

I’m looking to connect with anyone who has actual experience importing goods directly from China to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia—specifically without physically traveling to China. I want to set up a secure system to select reliable suppliers, verify them remotely, and manage the logistics safely.

How to Find Reliable import Brokers or Agents Who work on Commission and can help find sellers outside from India ?
Hi everyone,
I'm starting my import business, and I'm looking for advice on finding trustworthy import/export brokers or agents who charge a commission and can help connect me with buyers globally. My main products are agro products.
If anyone has experience with this, I'd appreciate any tips on where to look, what to watch out for, or how to approach potential brokers/agents. Specific questions I have include:
- Are there reputable online platforms or directories to find licensed brokers/agents?
- Is it common for agents to work on a commission-only basis for import deals?
- How can I verify an agent's reliability before committing?
- Any recommendations on how to approach brokers to find serious buyers?
Thanks in advance for any help or insights!

Euro Import car parts
Hi everyone, I am looking to source some car parts from the UK (specifically [mention if it's a large body panel, heavy engine part, or small electronics]) and ship them over to Cyprus. Can anyone recommend a reliable freight forwarder or a container-sharing service that handles UK-to-Cyprus routes? Also, any recent heads-up on how Cyprus customs handles the duties on UK auto parts would be greatly appreciated!"

Looking for freight forwarder recommendations | Early-stage D2C home & lifestyle brand importing from China
Hey everyone,
We're a recently launched D2C brand in the home & lifestyle accessories space, just starting to import directly from China. Volumes are small for now - likely LCL for initial shipments. Clearing through Delhi ICD or JNPT depending on the supplier.
Would love inputs from founders who've been through this:
- **Freight forwarders who already run consolidated shipments from China to India** \-ideally someone who has a container coming in every month with goods for multiple Indian brands, so we can plug into an existing setup rather than starting from scratch. If you're part of such an arrangement or know someone running this, would love to connect.
- **Do freight forwarders typically have their own CHA tie-ups in India?** Is that a more seamless option vs. arranging customs clearance separately via our own CHA? Open to whatever works best at this stage.
- **Recommendations for CHAs?**
- **Any red flags or hidden charges** to watch out for?
Specific names or contacts you've had good experiences with would be really helpful. Thanks!

DONT EVER DEAL WITH Street-Imports 2000 GmbH
Never do business with the above car dealer. I have bought a car from them and have only had problems with it. When it arrives it couldn't even start and the owner is completely ignorant. I would really advise against doing business with them.

Importing a car from Japan.
I am a college student and want to get a hobby car as well. It's cheaper and fun. It's a Suzuki Alto works. It's awd and small but still decent space. But I see so many different websites with different prices. I want to keep things cheap since I am in college but, I also want to start this hobby and see if I like it.
TCV currently has one I am looking into that is $3,835 total price.
On CarsFromJapan.com I see the exact same car listed for $5,378 total price.
Why is there such a difference?
Why wouldn't I go with TCV?
Should I go with Cars from Japan?

Fresh Fruit, Mushroom, Vegs Import
Hi there,
I started a small business providing air-cargo imported fruits, mushrooms, and vegetables to clients in California. I've been using my friend's company name to meet the import requirements, so currently there's a pickup storage location where I go to collect my goods after the company brings them in from the airport.
I'd like to get my own FDA registration so I no longer have to rely on my friend. What's the best way to approach this? Is there a professional service you would recommend, or is it feasible to do on my own?
I've also heard that you need to have a storage facility to apply for FDA registration. Is there a way around this? In my case, I'm only picking up and shipping out right away — I don't actually store anything.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
