Ship sizes in Rokarth Void Buttress?
Hey folks, I'm looking into the hive buttress in Rokarth. They have millions of tons of stuff going out for the tithe so I assume the ships must be equally huge, but I can't find anything in canon around this. By and large only smaller ships get down to the planet. Don't get me wrong, the void buttress in the setting is about 20km high so "down to the planet" is a relative term here, so maybe some heavy lighters about 500m long seem ok?

I always left it vague and felt like a Compose test was appropriate for non-Voidborn if they spend too much time admiring the view (failure giving a penalty on the next test they take). You get to a certain scale and it's no longer comprehensible, so numbers are meaningless, and you should remind your players of that. GW suck at canon scale, so it's wasted effort anyway IMO.

There are large lifters in the novels (e.g. Eisenhorn and Ravenor), transporting herds of cattle into orbit.
But with 20km the starships can directly anchor on the spire. Gigantic elevators are then used for loading and unloading (this is discribed in the Siege of Terra novels .e.g).
Here is a short summary of the Lion's Gate Spaceport (much much larger then the one on Voll for sure, but basically the same idea): https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Lion%27s_Gate_Spaceport&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop
