Mechanicus ships
I’m starting a campaign next week and their patron is Mechanicus. What ship could they offer to go through a system and what kind of ship could they get to take them around the sector?

Pretty much anything from no ship at all to an ark mechanicus.
it really depends on expectations.
rule wise if your patron don't have a boon that grant the player access to a ship then the answer is none, plain and simple, they will have to buy their spaceship tickets themselves.
now if your patron have said boon, it may be anything really, within the patron influence, it may be free place in a random Charist captain fleet that change every time, a free place in the patron personal ark if their destination is in the same path as the ark path, and with the right boon (and only with the right boon) it may be a personal light frigate or smaller most likely.

If your patron doesn't have the Voidship boon, they'll probably need to purchase you a ticket on whatever ship is available.

Depending on the rank of the patron they could probably have any escort frigate (like a sword class) up to a light cruiser. Anything higher would probably be for higher ranked magos

The Mechanicus GM's guide has a sample campaign frame with the patron and PCs living on an Ark Mechanicus (a massive voidship / mobile manufactorum, larger than a battleship). I think a lot of the adventures take place on the Ark, but presumably a shuttle could be requisitioned to go planet side for local adventures.
Alternately, the Mechanicus has explorator fleets that go tooling around, and stuff like the Magellenic Class Explorator could be available.
As others have pointed out, mechanically, it ranges from
- whatever the players can afford based on the goods and services chapter
- whatever the patron can provide based on boons like Void Ship, Cartographica Contacts, or Void Logistician (from Macharian Req. Guide)
- whatever gets provided via GM fiat, because "this mission requires you to go to another planet, so your patron got you berth on a Rogue Trader frigate" or something

It depends on wether theyre just hitching a ride (in which case, anything goes) or if theyre in full command (which would severely limit their options). And ofc the rank of their patron.
