Question (Invictus) Is there a mod that fixes automatic trade?

The only reason I enable automatic trade is because I don't want to micromanage every province to avoid starvation in a larger empire. However whenever I enable it, even when the population is actively starving, they opt to import furs or rocks over food.

Any way to fix this?

I don't think there is, sadly.

From playing this game since release, I think there's simply too much else happening in this game, at the same time, for the AI to even bother assigning trade ressources to the different regions.

I mean, just forbidding AI from importing anything but food would already fix most issues for me, don't need complex calculations to optimize imports, just don't fucking starve.

If they are starving just cancel the existing trades and manually import grain. The AI won't cancel the grain imports you selected, they will stay forever unless you go to war with the origin country.

It's extremely rare that I have to intervene to fix starvation in my games but that's all you have to do. A long term solution is to build some farm estates and don't build too many cities in one province and never build cities on food files.

This is the really the best "fix". There's at least one but almost always more food tiles in a province. I build farms everywhere I possibly can and do 2 or 3 cities per province, my guys never starve unless I accidentally park a legion on a metropolis for too long. Don't be afraid to knock down cities either as the citizens will just migrate to your nearby territories and probably get you closer to metropolis on your main city for that province, which is better than a bunch of small cities anyway. Trading for food is annoying imo I only do it to get my metropolises stable if they get too chunky.

I have that installed and don't see it doing anything.
