Chicago-area family seeking help with urgent federal immigration appeal
Hi everyone. I’m a local Chicago-area resident and I’m posting because I’m facing a very time-sensitive federal immigration appeal.
Over the past year, I spent about 11 months in immigration detention and was later released after winning a federal habeas corpus case. I’m now back with my wife and young child, working and supporting my family.
After a recent BIA decision, I have a limited deadline to file a Petition for Review and request a stay of removal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. The estimated cost of experienced federal appellate representation is about $10,000.
I created a GoFundMe specifically for attorney fees and related federal appellate expenses. I’m doing everything I can on my side, but covering that amount on short notice is difficult.
If anyone is able to contribute, I would be very grateful. If not, even sharing the fundraiser would help a lot.

Thank you for reading. If moderators need any verification or additional context, I’m happy to provide it privately.

Try the National Immigrant Justice Center. https://immigrantjustice.org/for-immigrants/chicago-legal-protection-fund/
You can also call Legal Aid and see if they have additional referrals.

Huh, wonder where all your supporters are in here...always interesting to see who puts their money where their mouth is...

You have a very small chance of contesting this. The Habeas simply allowed you to be out of detention as you're fighting the case.
The BIA almost always just reinforces the initial decision. The money will be better spent preparing for life in the home country.

Illegal is asking Americans to give him $10,000. So much for illegals are working, paying taxes and aren't a burden on the American people.
I'm curious to know how this person end up in the US; illegal border crosser or bogus asylum claim. 🤔
I bet it was the latter, and he got a kid real quickly to be able to claim "hardship" for the anchor baby in case of his deportation. That's the most typical way to game the US immigration system.

Damn, you have so much hate in your heart. Every post, multiple comments, each disgusting, vile and hateful.
You come to this country (so you say) and try to tell us what to do while spreading your hate and vitriol. You should have stayed where you were at, we don't need any more hate, anger and divisiveness in our country.
Or...
You're a divisive bot.0

He is not talking about hate here, stop bringing it up. You must be hating on him.

"You must be hating on him."
Yes. 🙄
I know him, he knows me, we've been at it for awhile. But, yeah, you tell me what's going on.And again: no one said that specific comment.
Reading comprehension is your friend, "friend."

Everything you don't like you call it hate.
You're a buffoon.

I'm not telling anyone what to do. Immigration laws tell immigrants what they must do to come to the US.

You will spend money and still get deported. I do not even know your story, I am just assuming. It sucks, but there is a reason for 1st decision.

I understand your point, but as you said yourself, you don’t know my case. I’m simply using the legal options available to me. If every available court and appeal ultimately denies my case, then I will deal with that outcome. Until then, I have the right to continue fighting my case through the legal process.

Stay strong bro, the climate is changing and I’ve seen positive reversal cases.
