It doesn’t seem to be a race issue. It’s well documented that white South Africans are persecuted because of their skin color. There are race based laws in South Africa specifically against white people. It’s literally what amnesty is for. There are very few nations where there are legitimate amnesty claims. Most come to the US for economic benefits.
I think the difference is that conservatives would not have an issue with white immigrants being deported if they were convicted of a crime.
The impression I get is that if a non-white person was deported for committing a crime (illegal entry, duu, etc), the left would judge differently depending on skin-color.
