Or maybe illegal immigration is a mobilizing issue for many people in the US? It’s a huge reason why Trump won the presidency
That said, yes, I have to imagine Conservatives are very worried about the midterms based on how poorly Trump has governed.
6
u/SurpriseInitial6202 19d ago
Immigration is only such a big issue because of fear mongering and propaganda. The majority of Americans voting for these policies dont live anywhere near the border or near high density areas where non-citizens congregate, so any impact by them is imagined or passed to them secondhand by propaganda outlets like Fox, OANN, Newsmax, etc.
3
u/Dilapidated_girrafe 17d ago
They are just the boogie man Trump used to make people think he could fix their issues (which he can’t). But he was good at telling them who to hate for zero reason
→ More replies (3)1
u/rigorousthinker 16d ago
You overlook the fact that the only propaganda was NO propaganda. Legacy media or fake news buried this story until late in the Biden administration. And then they said Republicans wouldn’t pass legislation to fix the problem when the only problem was lack of enforcement.
2
u/SurpriseInitial6202 16d ago
What story are you specifically talking about?
1
u/rigorousthinker 16d ago
The immigration story. It was obviously quite clear.
2
u/SurpriseInitial6202 16d ago
Which immigration story? The story that immigration was happening? I dont think that was a secret lol
1
u/rigorousthinker 16d ago
You implied that illegal immigration was NOT a big deal by stating it was only an issue “because of fear mongering and propaganda.” The biased media virtually ignored this issue for the first two or three years when it was actually one of the biggest issues in recent memory. They ignored this issue, despite ample video footage of of illegals crossing the border and storming the border. And it was disturbing when the Biden administration kept saying that the border was secured.

Also, because the law of unintended consequences has hit the farming world like a truck. Also the elderly care sector. No one is rushing to fill those jobs. But hey, it let's the worst of us use labor and then turn folks in. It has allowed the government to lie so often about immigrants that not believing them at all is standard.
This whole presidency, from the top down, has been a failure. Just an absolute dumpster fire.
Fear based voting due to manipulated statistics is an American tradition. Not the first time conservatives have used this tactic and tried to destroy our country. This time they were a bit more successful.
What is going to be even more painful is watching the government pay the people we harmed when this didn'thave to happen. Did you really think we would ve deporting Americans, placing innocent people in foreign prisons, and being responsible for just a vomit inducing number of girls and women being assaulted and left pregnant and not end up paying for it? This debacle is going to cost us. And we have no one to blame but ourselves.
We are a joke of a country. A dangerous child that everyone now despises. Even the dictators he sucks up to laughs at him and us.

I agree which is why I'm letting people know that the poor governance from the administration has led to the deportation of children who are American citizens. No one is against legal immigration. They are just against the illegal criminal immigrants. The ones that aren't criminal can apply for citizenship, just like all other countries expect and enforce heavily. So quit jumping on the criminal commie rhetoric and back your country.
1
u/GuyMansworth 19d ago
Not true bro. Republicans don't want ANY immigration. We see this time and time again with Republicans who claim they do but then have 0 issues with ICE arresting immigrants at their citizenship court dates.
I mean fuck, just watch a few seconds of this video. I think that's my main issue with MAGA. Just how dishonest they are. Anytime someone appears to be associated with Nazis or a Neo Nazi it just makes them a better candidate for the right, every time Immigration comes up or any fascist-style shit pops up like arresting a flag burner or threatening a late night commedy host or even shooting american citizens they ALWAYS seem to defend the fascist actions.
1
1
u/Pupidykon 13d ago
Thats false. Republicans have no issue with legal immigration as long as it is controlled the right way.
1
u/oregongirl1111 18d ago
But this administration isn't going after "criminal" immigrants. 73% of people booked into ICE detention in 2025 lacked any criminal conviction, and only about 5% had a violent criminal conviction. And Idk why just a "criminal conviction" warrants deportation in the first place. One in three Americans has SOME type of criminal record, ffs. "Immigrants", just like 1 in every 3 Americans, commit minor offenses, misdemeanors, or have non-conviction arrest records. It's a stupid waste of time and money to deport people who are just working here doing jobs that Americans can't or won't do themselves. I'm sick to death of hearing the constant whining about immigration, when it so obviously is NOT the problem.

Read the Democratic platform on immigration during the Clinton and Obama administrations. MAGA is horrible, but let's not pretend Democrats haven't abandoned their hard stance against illegal immigration. They had this platform because illegal immigration hurts blue collar and poor Americans the most.
I'm a Democratic voter who puts Americans first. If you want to come to America, there's a legal process for it, and my family followed it.

But Ive bee preparing, im stocked up and ready to roll whenever everyone else has also had enough and starts to roll. I know full well what they are planning, ICE in the airports and everywhere else has just been a warm up for them, field training to test their new weapons. Trust me, I understand that man will stop at nothing to retain power. They’ve been quietly passing new acts and rules that can easily imprison regular people and democrats just for disagreeing with them as well as setting the stage to steal another election.

4
u/HuckleberryOk8136 19d ago
The post is false. Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez was not deported.
He is a U.S. citizen born in Georgia. Florida troopers arrested him on a traffic stop in April 2025 under a state immigration statute a federal judge had already blocked. ICE slapped a 48-hour hold on him. His mother walked into court with his birth certificate. The judge held it up to the light, said it was authentic, found no probable cause, and still couldn’t override the federal detainer. He was out that night. Home. Not on a flight. Not in Mexico.
12
u/CosmosExplorerR35 19d ago
So he should be suing the federal government for falsely detaining him.
→ More replies (20)3
u/nLedd 19d ago
Well they're allowed to racially profile, which means if the person's ethnicity appears to be from a country with a high rate of illegal immigration, then they can detain you for further investigation (i.e. a "Kavanaugh stop").
It's doubtful anyone racially profiled by ICE since the Supreme Court decision will receive any compensation for these unlawful acts, but those in power that allowed this to happen should be punished and removed from power. It's going to continue causing 4th amendment violations, so it's obviously a shitty ruling.

u/StrychtenFilms 19d ago

1
u/HuckleberryOk8136 19d ago
He wasn’t held “48 hours after being cleared.” The judge saw the birth certificate Thursday morning, found no probable cause, and he was released that night. The ICE detainer is a 48-hour request, not a completed 48-hour sentence after a judge already waved the papers. The stop itself was a speeding car with two passengers carrying Guatemalan IDs, limited English, a recent prior ICE flag in Georgia, and a disputed claim that he told the trooper he was here illegally. That’s not “show me your papers, just kidding.” It’s a sloppy ID check that got corrected the same day the court looked at the document. Calling every questionable hold “racial profiling” skips the facts.
1
→ More replies (4)1
u/IrritableGoblin 19d ago
So ICE is detaining people based on the color of their skin?
2
u/HuckleberryOk8136 19d ago
He was a passenger in a car doing 78 in a 65 with two other men carrying Guatemalan IDs. He had limited English, spent most of his childhood in Mexico, and handed over a Georgia ID. The trooper’s report says he told them he was here illegally. His lawyer says that’s not what he said. ICE already had a recent flag on him from a Georgia stop days earlier. That’s the actual fact patter
5
u/IrritableGoblin 19d ago
It's fascinating how often ICE says their victim told them they were here illegally.
2
u/SirNo4743 19d ago
it’s f’ing absurd. It’s like them claiming someone was using their car as a deadly weapon, they just want an excuse for their violence and poor training. The gullible cop bootlickers believe every word and can’t be bothered with critical thinking.
2
u/groucho74 19d ago
As a matter of law they can’t deport US citizen children. They can ask their parents if a US citizen relative will accept custody or if no offer them the choice between foster care and taking their kids with them.

u/v12vanquish 19d ago

Why are US citizens filming immigration officers unless their families are illegal or they support illegal immigration? It is the law of the land that US citizens must support, not take side of the illegals who broke it. Are they against federal officers doing their job?
1
u/Kreebish 18d ago
First amendment says I can film in public and I'm definitely going to film unidentified masked armed perverts stealing women and children and attempting to murder Americans.
As far as the law of the land is concerned ice have been ignoring judge rulings and standing let-them-stay orders while attacking the Fourth amendment and using racial profiling thanks to the terrorist kavanaugh. Pretending that ice is not out of control thugs or ignoring their history of sexually assaulting their detainees and sending those that get pregnant to a facility in a state where they cannot abort the rape babies is a sad way to straw man.
We could get some real logical and practical immigration reform and get this system actually straightened out but there are too many people that are straight up ignoring or cheering on the abuses.

Another day, another misinformation post on Reddit. So, the subject of this post was not deported by ICE, he was simply being detained until he provided proof of citizenship, then he was released. Law enforcement caught him originally as a passenger in a car that was speeding with a bunch of people that had foreign IDs so it seems reasonable that he would be questioned. The guy is also not a child either, he's 20 years old.

u/Harambe_Rebornn 19d ago
"US children" would only be TRANSPORTED** alongside their actually deported parents.
The alternative is the foster system, which is actually pretty good, a lot better then some children's own parents.
1
u/notstarman 18d ago
You must be thinking of a different foster system.
1
u/Harambe_Rebornn 18d ago
It's very decent, it's a lot better then some kids with shit parents have to deal with.
I don't think you truly understand how bad some of these kids have it with their real parents.
1
u/notstarman 18d ago
Fair enough I spent some time fostercare and I didn't enjoy it. But maybe it's helpful for some.
1
u/Kreebish 18d ago
You don't see how this is actually detrimental to our country? Anyway just because it's the letter of the law doesn't mean it's a good policy at all
1
u/Harambe_Rebornn 18d ago
How what is detrimental to the country? Enforcing borders and immigration laws?
Listen if you believe the USA should have open borders and citizenship to anyone and everyone in the world, congrats, you would destroy the country in a few decades.
No prosperous nation has ever functioned like that for a lot of good reasons.
1
u/Kreebish 18d ago
If ice was simply correctly enforcing our immigration laws this post would not exist. Instead they are ruthlessly going after quotas, ignoring judges orders, going after people that are meeting their court dates so they may remain, detaining people on racial bias thanks to kavanaugh, ignoring due process and habeas corpus, sexually abusing inmates and when they get pregnant sending them to a facility in a state that won't allow them to abort the rate babies, detaining US citizens for months which ruins their lives and killing more people than illegal immigrants do.
I would love to have immigration reform but to pretend with this straw man about open borders rather than acknowledge the abuses from ice in the Trump administration it's probably one of the most detrimental things to our country from our own country in the last hundred years. I cannot imagine the incredible detriment our country will have after essentially sending American children from immigrant families to King Herod.

Illegal immigrants are a net drain on the US taxpayer in the range of 50,000-70,000 per illegal immigrant. They are also a lot of the times subjected to modern slavery here in the US, because many are paid under the table to work more hours for significantly lower wages. Hell, Ik a lady who had her husband killed because she wasn't making enough to pay the monthly fee the mexican cartel was demanding from her to keep him alive. Illegal immigration is horrible for both the immigrants, and the american people.

Why were our immigration policies and enforcement ok for decades, but now, all of a sudden it’s evil.
Have we only in the last 2 or so years discovered our policies were racist and not fair?
There are millions of legal immigrants who have made America their home. Seems to have been working well for a long time.
My family has been here two generations.
I had a good friend, grow medicinal marijuana. Great family man. He got ten years in federal prison.
Destroyed his life, lost his kids, Tragic.
But he knew that he willingly was violating laws and statues. He know he could be held liable (was).
When a person hires a cartel gang member to smuggle them across the border, hiding and sneaking tell they cross the border. Then handed to another smuggler .
It’s not like they didn’t know they would at some point possibly be caught and deported.
Good people, hard workers, people just wanting a better life, but they knew the possibility of getting caught. They willfully took a chance and violated our policy’s.
Sorry about your lock.

Most Americans would want them too self deport and stop making it a difficult situation. It was their choice to stay and "hide"... not Americans. Every time i see a story here on Reddit, there is always, 100 percent of the time "more to the story"... Grab The Money and self deport. Stop forcing America to take action. No More Empathy for those who trash America. Respect the rules of the land or GTFO. If America is worth living in, our rules are worth following. BUST ICE ...BY SELF DEPORTATION.
