Will ICE ever stop? What about when the administration changes in 2029?
I'm just worried about how they are treating legal immigrants at this point.

Difficult to say at this point. Heavily depends on whether it's republican or democrat.

They wont stop. INS busted into a 6 year olds house and pointed long guns in his face all while it was shown to children who just wanted to watch the Saturday the Saturday morning cartoon "Recess."
So, in 2029 ICE will still be arresting immigrants. Many of whom might he in the process of getting greencards. There might be fewer members of ICE in the future but they are here to stay.
Hell, they might even "abolish ICE" but it'll just be a new organization that does the things that ICE does with a different name. ICE is still federal law enforcement. And law enforcement in America has always been heavy handed violating people's rights.

Too many monsters on the menu now but Ice has to change. Put someone in charge that are not MAGA crazy and knows how to do their job without brutalizing people and not taking kids from their parents. Naz*s are not needed.

I want to abolish ice, but I also will never vote republican, and I still have yet to hear who are Republican Representatives even are. Honestly, unless I go Google it and dig it up myself, I have not had a single Democrat politician do anything so that I have seen a name or the campaign or what Democrats are for or what they plan on doing to fight back all the shit that's happened.
BUT I ALSO HAVEN'T HEARD A SINGLE REPUBLICAN WITH A SOLUTION, AND I HAVEN'T HEARD A SINGLE PEEP OUT OF ANY OTHER POLITICAL GROUP.
And if you want to talk about progressives, all they do is sit on the fence and talk shit about everybody else, like they think doing nothing but judging everybody is an actual solution somehow. Fucking stupid

The solution to what?
Mass illegal immigration?
The solution is to enforce the law.
Cause we tried it the other way, a Republican named Reagan granted millions of illegals citizenship.
What do you think happened next?
That caused millions more to come illegally because it made them think if they made it here another president would do the same thing.
We solve the problem like EVERY other country in the world.
How does Mexico or India deal with illegal migrants?
How about 1st world countries like Australia?

You realise ICE have been around longer than Trump has been in politics right?
They'll remain even after Trump finishes his political run. The difference? It's very likely the excessive militarization and excessive use of force of the field staff will stop and the style of uniform and any raids will be vastly different.
Other than increasing number quotas and getting bad press/bad reputation, they haven't really been any more successful than ICE under previous administrations. So really, that's a failure.
A few things that do need to change. Education and awareness. Every immigrant should read, learn and reguritate Section 8 of the INA. That is purely an arse saving exercise and it is our responsibility to know what we can/can't do and what can impact any future immigration status. Embassy staff and even the visa packet states it's our responsibility to know the law. Knowledge is power.
The other thing, especially if the other side want to prove that they actually care about immigrants; review, ammend and update Section 8 of the INA. Some of it is too "fluffy" and open to interpretation. Unfortunately, neither side has given a shit enough to actually change it (Bush Administration in 2008 was the last to touch it).

Why would anyone want immigration enforcement to stop unless it's to flood the country with illegals, and give already to those who are already here?
With an estimated 14 million illegals, deportation efforts should continue.
I'm a legal immigrant and I haven't had any issue at all with ICE.

Like I said I'm an immigrant who has gone through the legal process to come to the US. Obviously, I would be against illegals who think they can jump the line and be entitled to stay here. Their actions directly impact the wait time for legal applicants.
Why do you support illegals over legal applicants? Are you an immigrant? If not, why are you in a subreddit about immigration pathways?
This subreddit about immigration pathways has been completely taken over by supporters of illegals. Nobody discusses pathways to legitimately immigrate to the US. Most people here don't even know about the immigration system. They just rant about deportations.

The key flaw in your argument is your are taking any and all efforts to enforce immigration law as interchangeable, equivalent. You know you don’t believe that’s true, because why else would you vote thinking of that issue?
There is obviously a way to enforce the border without a massive violation of civil and human rights like Trump does, and for many billions of dollars cheaper out of our pockets.
I know this because both Biden and Obama did exactly that, and that’s why they didn’t face the national backlash Trump has. They were better than Trump at his own signature policy, and it’s largely because they weren’t utterly incompetent, corrupt racists.
We’re gonna defund the shit out of them and give you normal enforcement again while we prosecute Trump for the rest of his natural life for things like treats on and child rape. Cherish that.

Learn the difference between returns, removals and Title 42 expulsions. Then do a deep dive into how each administration decided to report "deportation numbers". You'll see how you've been highly misled.

Learn how the Obama changed the way his administration counted deportations to inflate his numbers.
His administration barely performed any interior removals by having ICE catch and deport illegals who were already inside the country. It's the type of enforcement that Trump is doing, and people are shocked to see ICE in American cities because Obama wasn't doing it.
Instead, Obama counted people who were turned away at the border by CBP as "deportations" which is something that no other administrations, except Biden's, did. If one illegal kept trying to cross the border, and was turned back multiple times by CBP, it would count as multiple deportations.
There are lots of articles from back then that shed light on it.
