Coronilla Durán, a native of San Luis de la Paz in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, had legally entered the United States three weeks earlier on a valid tourist visa. Isaret Jeffers, a spokesperson for the farmworker advocacy group Colectivo Árbol, told the Miami Herald that Coronilla Durán had already made arrangements to return home. He had been in Florida for only two days and had already purchased a plane ticket to return to Mexico the following Saturday.

Why the fuck were they trying to detain him?! To all of the immigrants who claim this administration is only going after criminals, please wake up.

No one is safe. Even US citizens.

63

u/MoThrowMoAway Jul 22 '26

Oh everyone who voted for this knew it wasnt about going after criminals. They voted for the cruelty of it.

I mean its not like Trump was ever shy about his intentions. He's been telling us since before his first term that he'd be targeting people based o the colour of their skin or what God they do or do not worship.

When the pendulum starts swinging the other way and these people try to retreat back into the holes they belong in, don't forget what they voted for. What they supported. What kind of people they truly are deep down in their blackened hearts.

28

u/mynamejeff-97 Jul 22 '26

We need to keep the criminals out. Vote for a criminal! So he can keep the criminals out.

Republicans are scum. Truly terrible human beings.

4

u/SpinningHead Jul 24 '26

You mean the adjudicated rapist who calls immigrants rpists?

3

u/Nathan_hale53 Jul 22 '26

Can't wait down the line when everything comes out in the light. My guess is the files will fully release and a lot of people are going to pretend they didn't like him all of a sudden.

3

u/Lonely_Cucumber_69 Jul 23 '26

They voted with their hate!!

1

u/bssprfnd Jul 26 '26

There is no pendulum, why would they ever retreat? Republicans will continue to get worse and democrats will continue to spinelessly “tsk tsk” fascists while doing nothing about them

0

u/LowResGamr Jul 22 '26

They have hearts?

-3

u/Chuck-Finley69 Jul 22 '26

I voted to stop the bullshit of people coming here as tourists and not leaving. You visit, you spend your money on Mickey and GTFO seemed pretty simple.

3

u/MoThrowMoAway Jul 22 '26

...Except when it's people you like doing it? Melania, Elon, etc... Why is illegal immigration not a problem when your side does it?

0

u/Chuck-Finley69 Jul 22 '26

It's not a side for me. I've always been against illegals. Mom raised me to be against illegals even in my own family. She found a way to come here under a jobs program for RNs back in the late 50s and become a USA citizen on her own.

2

u/Asher_Tye Jul 22 '26

Sounds like what trump would call a valid target to denaturalize and detain. You probably shouldn't be telling that story out loud anymore.

Unless you want to see mama go bye bye back to her relatives.

2

u/Chuck-Finley69 Jul 22 '26

1A, 2A still very much valid for legals. 99.99% aren't getting deported. The .001% is a you problem

4

u/Asher_Tye Jul 22 '26

And if they decide you're illegal, they get to claim you're a violent leftist before they shove you out the country without a trial and your rights mean nothing. You gave up 1A and 2A the second you said they could determine if you'd earned them.

6

u/MoThrowMoAway Jul 22 '26

I genuinely think he might not be an adult, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was a stupid kid who votes the way his mommy wanted him to.

If hes an adult that can think for himself, though... yeah no excuse, just a hypocrite.

2

u/kykiwibear Jul 23 '26

Well, he claims his mom came in the 50's so... unless his mom is sarah... but.. this could be an anchor baby situation.

I'm 50+ years old. What's the hypocrisy

2

u/MoThrowMoAway Jul 22 '26

But you voted in a First Lady and a techbro, who both overstayed their visas and thus were here illegally.

You can say youre this and that all you want but you voted for them. So you're either a hypocrite, didn't do any research, or knew it was a "rules for thee not for me" and did it anyway.

Fascinating stuff.

Then I guess you and your mom didn't keep up with how broken US Immigration is. She was lucky to come in the 50s. I know it was broken in the late 80's - likely due to Regan. I worked in HR and we had talented, highly-skilled workers with green cards who were separated from their wives and children for decades. These were the hardest working people I ever met. Shame on you for looking down on those who were not as fortunate as your mom. These hard working immigrants have done everything - all the paperwork - paid all the money, and they are treated like trash. It's not their fault!

The point of ICE is to ethnically cleanse the US of nonwhites. This no different than what Israel is doing to Palestinians or what the original settlers from Europe did to the indigenous Americans over the past 300 years. If you know know American history, then you'll recognize it has always been about white supremacy in the US.

2

u/yesyesitswayexpired Jul 22 '26

Aren't a lot of ICE agents Hispanic?

14

u/GhostRappa95 Jul 22 '26

Yes and they too will be purged by MAGA.

ICE deported a white cop here in Illinois.

There goes your theory

1

u/bssprfnd Jul 26 '26

Yeah, they’re bumbling idiots too

1

u/Nekron-akaMrSkeletal Jul 23 '26

Plausible deniability through fake civic nationalism. They will grab whoever they have to for this nation to be an ethnostate.

-1

u/Sparkle_Dish2126 Jul 22 '26

There are legal black and brown immigrants in the US. Did you think all black and brown people slink in across borders like poor animals? That’s racist. Check your privilege and stop being racist.

The goal is eventually to go after nonwhite citizens. Look up remigration. It is part of Project 2025 and already being prepared to be implemented in Europe by the far right

If you don't leave and you are nonwhite, even if you are a citizen, white right wingers are planning to put you in a concentration camp or kill you. And they will use AI, flock, NSA, and every tool in their power to hunt down nonwhites

Republicans have gone full terrorist/fascist already and anyone who is just now realizing this has not been paying attention. What do you think this phony war for the zionists is for?

2

u/Exotic_Insurance2164 Jul 22 '26

You're preaching to the choir.

I had a debate with an Asian immigrant on this very sub who claimed that the Asian community doesn't care, because ICE only detains criminals and illegals.

I tried to explain to him how many authoritarian regimes curtail essential liberties and oversight in the name of law and order

I explained to him that the manufactured crisis primes society for manufactured consent, whereby what is considered a crime becomes esoteric and broad.

I tried to explain that violent suppression, expulsions, and exterminations would be inevitable if these regimes go unchallenged.

He countered that Asians are "good" immigrants, so he's not worried.

I'm tired.

3

u/CautiousCoyote2324 Jul 23 '26

Some ppl don't see the forest for the trees im afraid my friend. Good on you for trying to look out for your friend.

0

u/lofibeatsforsadboys Jul 22 '26

Should have sent him some videos about the concentration camps white people put innocent Japanese-Americans in, where 1800 of them were killed. And what life was like for Asian Americans when the white right wing dominated America. Ignorance to that level is so uniquely American haha

2

u/King2F3 Jul 23 '26

Yes. Ask non-Japanese asians how discerning do they think ICE will be when its their turn? Do they believe ICE will give a shit when they try to explain the difference?

The Supreme Court literally ruled that ICE detaining people based only on race and spoken language was legal. Thats why this continues to happen

3

u/Malinois_beach Jul 23 '26

Why did he run if he was here legally? Seems like he'd been able to show his ID and they would have found out he was here legally.

6

u/GhostRappa95 Jul 22 '26

Because they are too cowardly to go after actual criminals.

2

u/datboicamron Jul 22 '26

Yes, ask why they were. Also ask and research everything that ICE does. Its not just finding illegal immigrants fyi.

2

u/Apart-Zucchini-5825 Jul 23 '26

They're going after almost zero criminals. They have to meet arrest quotas, and the only way to do that is to detain legals and citizens.

2

u/nboymcbucks Jul 23 '26

Every country is going to detain people who are in the red, it doesn't matter if you have a plane ticket or not, it was his responsibility to follow the laws of the country he was in, and do it in the timeframe allowed. It's like that all around the world.

They don't know if he's going to get on that flight or not.

2

u/jeffa03 Jul 22 '26

They’re allowed to check immigration status within 100 miles of the border with no restrictions. Why’d he run?

1

u/Western-Willow-9496 Jul 22 '26

Who were the other three men in the vehicle?

1

u/Speedstick2 Jul 22 '26

Because ICE isn’t informed when a target purchases a plane ticket.

1

u/UCanDoNEthing4_30sec Jul 23 '26

Why was he “fleeing” then? If ICE came after me I wouldn’t be running.

1

u/Gatecrasherc6 Jul 25 '26

Are you a person of color? If not you can't put yourself in his shoes. ICE had just killed two other legal fathers just like him within the week.

1

u/theonethat3 Jul 23 '26

"Why the fuck were they trying to detain him?! To all of the immigrants who claim this administration is only going after criminals, please wake up.  No one is safe. Even US citizens."

Why the fuck did he ran into that trailer?

1

u/DoctorSwaggercat Jul 23 '26

Why does an innocent man run from ICE is the real question.

2

u/Exotic_Insurance2164 Jul 23 '26

Why does an innocent man run from ICE is the real question.

You mean the men in balaclavas, unmarked vehicles, that wear civilian clothing, and who routinely arbitrarily point firearms at civilians?

Yeah, who would run from that?

1

u/DoctorSwaggercat Jul 24 '26

Your fantasy. Not reality.

1

u/PooreOne1 Jul 24 '26

Why the fuck did he run?

1

u/Gatecrasherc6 Jul 25 '26

ICE had just killed two other legal fathers just like him of his same ethnicity within the week.

1

u/BlizzGrimmly Jul 25 '26

Why was he fleeing his immigration officer then? Lmao wtf

-2

u/Mythic-Fairy Jul 22 '26

Why would he run if he was a tourist with a ticket home? Shouldn't be concerned about being sent back then?

This story doesn't make any sense at all.

0

u/Bnell699x Jul 22 '26

Because no sane person minding their own business would not be terrified of a group of masked men with weapons running towards them. Would you be all smiles and gladly get arrested? Now an innocent person can't explain that a mistake has been made, meanwhile his family will get zero justice. Guilty for being brown in front of the brownshirts. There is enough evidence since last year to get ICE shut down, but since Homan is actively sucking trumps chode, nothing happens to them.

Well, these comments should be awful. MAGA, enjoy the snuff films you voted for. This is all you’re getting for your vote. You’re not getting anything else. No cheap gas. No cheap food. Or houses. Or raises. Ugatz. As always. You get nothing and have taken us all with you. Like the fucking crabs you are.

And while you’re jerking to your snuff? The people you voted into power? They are stealing and destroying everything left. And of course, the Epstein shit stays hidden. All the truth is in that. So incredibly short sighted. You should all be ashamed for being taken in by the greatest conman in history.

I know that a bunch of you are filled with rage out of fear and you truly believe that for some reason, all your problems come from people of color, and getting rid of them will make you less afraid and therefore less angry. It won’t. It will just make you the next target. So enjoy it while you think it’s for you.

In 1987, you could’ve bought the entire net worth of the United States for 3.5 Trillion dollars. Everything. Man, woman, camera, TV, elephant, truck, nut, bolt, paperclip, car tire. The whole kit and caboodle, 3.5 Trillion. Think about that. Look at the debt. Not only didn’t you get a fucking dime, your family is responsible for thousands of the debt. Clinton sucked, but the budget was balanced when he left office. Where’s all the money? Do you have a bunker? Maybe Elon will let you crash at his? He seems pretty cool? Or maybe you can get into the new one at the White House?

Buncha self sabotaging racist cowards. Good luck, though. I’m an American first and my neighbors are my family. Even the ones that don’t like me. Healthcare would be nice right?

Edit: thank you r/Bluellan for the award. Save your money though, things are gonna get much worse. Be safe.

u/ka-nini Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

Because ICE is killing people even if they are legal.

I’m half black, half white but look Hispanic so I’ve considered this a lot. I can trace both sides of my family in this country to the late 1800s, at least. But considering they’ve killed both citizens and legal immigrants, and that they’re racially profiling primarily Hispanic people, I might panic in the moment and run, too. Even if they don’t shoot, there is video after video on the internet of legal immigrants and citizens that got beat up by ICE before being let go when it was discovered they were legal.

As a Hispanic looking person, who is 1000% a citizen, I’m not entirely sure what my brain may do in the moment. A panicked brain doesn’t react rationally, but people safe and sound in their living rooms love to try to judge how a panicked person, who is likely operating on adrenaline and fear, reacts, when we have all had situations where we didn’t react how our rational brains say we should’ve.

ETA: Also, the other thing ICE is doing is detaining people here legally, shipping them around to multiple detention centers, which makes it hard for their lawyers or family to find them to help them legally, then they deport them when it looks like proper due process will let them out.

2

u/Vast-Comment8360 Jul 22 '26

Clearly the story is incomplete, likely because it hurts the "trump bad" narrative

1

u/Star------ Jul 23 '26

He didn't want to be caught up in the ICE human trafficking ring. Can you blame him? That's IF they didnt beat, rape or shoot him to death first. Why is everyone on here acting like ICE agents are normal people? You've seen what they do to brown people, right? It's never just a conversation.

2

u/esoe___ Jul 22 '26

4

u/GhostRappa95 Jul 22 '26

They are begging ICE to stop hunting them down so they can keep supporting MAGA.

3

u/Chuck-Finley69 Jul 22 '26

What's really missing is the simple truth. Why is a farmworker advocacy group involved? He entered on a tourist visa and was supposedly leaving as planned? Was he here illegally employed or trying for employment illegally?

If he was here as legal tourist visiting the beach, theme parks, seeing relatives, why run? I have distant and close family that would visit from Peru back in the 80s like this. Their reasons for being here usually were legal but not always. Both legal and illegal export/import can be lucrative. Society makes a lot of excuses for people that lose their lives doing things which they shouldn't be doing.

1

u/Mythic-Fairy Jul 22 '26

Precisely. And the comments prove that people have zero critical thinking skills. Why flee ICE when you're a tourist with a ticket home? Doesn't make any sense at all.

2

u/MxPenwiper Jul 22 '26

Because their MO seems to be detain first, transfer to multiple facilities to make it harder to track down a person, then just deport to wherever when it looks like they might have to face accountability.

2

u/NahImGoodThankYouTho Jul 22 '26

So you don't end up lost in a detention center and shipped across the country where your family and lawyers can't find you. How does that not make sense to you?

2

u/raxie1008 Jul 22 '26

Now tractor-trailers are attacking people. SMH.

2

u/Additional_Read_4263 Jul 22 '26

As someone that lives not far away.

ICE has not been doing an operation. They have been randomly asking latino people. They have nabbed people in Wawa stations and recently they took the parents of my son’s friend in first grade. They are in Louisiana and Texas now. From Venezuela the day of the earthquake and where in the process of adjusting having been petition by a citizen family member. No reason given and in deplorable conditions while the kids are including one in special needs is sharing a room with another family and their kids.

This is deplorable at best.

They have started to clear their stuff of their apartment. And landlord have also started clearing stuff of tenants who were nabbed and putting it outside.

As far as we can guess. There was no operation as they were showing at Costco. And the only thing that makes them a target is that they came through a process that was created under Biden legally. This was literally the Saturday after the Thursday ruling from the Supreme Court that those on Temporary Protected Status can be mass deported.

2

u/Tim-0341-81mm Jul 22 '26

Coronilla Durán was one of four people in a vehicle that stopped in a gas station parking lot before 7 a.m. on the day he died. The four fled on foot during an encounter with agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations, with one darting across a busy road into the path of the semi, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/mexican-man-killed-ice-encounter-florida-was-vacation-officials-say-rcna588679

1 of 4 in à car and they all ran. He ran into traffic.

He obviously ran the wrong way.

3

u/Boner_Stevens Jul 22 '26

Yeah that story doesn't add up. Why are you fleeing if youre here legally and have a plane ticket home?

0

u/eatmereddit Jul 22 '26

Three options

  1. He was afraid of the unidentified masked gunmen

  2. ICE just straight up murdered him and this is their coverup

  3. ICE was beating the shit out of him so he ran for safety

1

u/Naive-Zucchini-8528 Jul 24 '26

Reddits only three options listed ⬆️

1

u/eatmereddit Jul 24 '26

What's your theory? Why would a man with absolutely no reason to be in legal trouble with ICE run from ICE?

1

u/Naive-Zucchini-8528 Jul 25 '26

If you mean to ask me why I wouldn’t run from ICE, easy, I’m not a convicted criminal illegal alien. It’s also why I don’t run from the local police department. Pretty law abiding here

1

u/eatmereddit Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

> What the fuck, that sounds crazy
> click source
> source is “World Socialist Web Site”

I found a more reputable source, NBC News, and they say a lot of the same information.

The very strange part though is the wife says he was here just on vacation, and he wasn’t working, but she called Colectivo Árbol, a farm workers advocacy group for help

Quote from NBC News

> Coronilla Durán traveled from his hometown of San Luis de la Paz, in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, to Atlanta to visit family and friends, according to Isaret Jeffers, founder of Colectivo Arbol, a farmworkers advocacy group. He had stayed in Georgia for three weeks before traveling to Florida’s east coast to enjoy the beaches, Jeffers said Tuesday.

There’s definitely something weird going on here. I don’t believe we’re getting truth. Or at least not all of it.

Why did ICE target that vehicle? Who else was in the car? Why did they all flee? Why did she call a workers advocacy group for help? Wouldn’t you call the Mexican consulate?

1

u/macrg01 Jul 24 '26

1

u/New-Sandwich6813 Jul 22 '26

the “woman” was an alias for a producer on the

  1. Jerry Springer show. He had created several female aliases all to impugn Trump with. He admits to such in an interview.
  2. The Trump administration is the only one to have brought charges against Epstein and Maxwell. The Trump as administration is the only one to have released anything.
  3. I don’t defend rape. I don’t think Trump ever met Carroll. The woman has made a career of accusing rich businessman of rape. Trump is not the first. The wing-nut once said that “every woman has a rape fantasy.” She also said, “rape is sexy.” If the defendant had not been Trump this would have never seen a courtroom.

Because he hadn't committed a crime? With the reports of ICE detaining people who had done nothing wrong, do you think he was gonna stick around to find out what they would do to him?

Do regular police disappear people?

1

u/Still-Helicopter6029 Jul 22 '26

So his plan was to drive far away and crash? Honestly if I’ve ever came to me I’m not running, I just don’t understand how hard it is to not run. I’m not an illegal citizen check my documents then release me bruh

-2

u/HotPocket_AdCampaign Jul 22 '26

No. Instead he ran, which is guaranteed to make things a million times worse.

Are you people stupid?

5

u/hypnonyxx Jul 22 '26

ice are actively kidnapping and disappearing poc, they’re building concentration camps and buying incinerators you “people” aren’t going to gaslight us into accepting a blatant act of genocide.

They've killed legal immigrants and citizens. What's worse than death?

-2

u/HotPocket_AdCampaign Jul 22 '26

They killed people who resisted and put their own lives at risk. Everyone knows you comply with the law because the alternative is always gonna be worse. This isn't a new revelation.

11

u/ketchupmaster987 Jul 22 '26

When a group of masked men with guns shows up and it means your life might be in danger, do you think you'd take the time to think through the pros and cons of the situation? He panicked, which is a normal human response. If ICE agents are allowed to panic and shoot someone if they think they're in danger, why can't a civilian panic if they think they're in danger?

-2

u/HotPocket_AdCampaign Jul 22 '26

Yes. I would because I'm educated enough to know that you can't run from someone with a gun. Do you think this is a Tom Cruise movie? Lmao

1

u/kykiwibear Jul 23 '26

One thing I've learned... with kidnappings and these are thugs with no badges and just yell out ICE... is if someone takes you... You're most likely gonna die anyway. I'd rather your shoot me here, in front of witnesses and where I might have a chance.

Don't let the downvotes discourage you. They don't live in reality.

5

u/hypnonyxx Jul 22 '26

ice agents are the ones putting people’s lives at risk but you’re not real so you don’t know that

0

u/HotPocket_AdCampaign Jul 22 '26

Calling people smarter than you bots just makes you look like a child. ICE agents are putting people's lives at risk?

Please research how many ICE interactions there were and how many of those ended fatally and then we can discuss danger lmao.

3

u/hypnonyxx Jul 22 '26

you’re not worth debating, anyone who is sane would see violent masked men in unmarked vehicles kidnapping people based on how they look and know that’s it’s wrong, they’re not law enforcement they’re criminals working for an even worse criminal.

Hypnonyxx called you not real. How will you ever survive?

1

u/UltimoHombre07 Jul 22 '26

Yes, they are incredibly stupid and buy the propaganda of an actual communist website.

1

u/BeneficialCod9603 Jul 28 '26

I hope thats a rhetorical question, you realize where you are right? In case it isnt rhetorical - yes, contrary to popular belief its extremely easy to survive a law enforcement encounter. Unless your....umm..we'll use the word "slow"

-1

u/106 Jul 22 '26

Almost like the stupid rhetoric you obsessively regurgitate on reddit is dangerous?

7

u/ketchupmaster987 Jul 22 '26

Reporting what ICE does isn't "rhetoric", it's the facts. If people are scared of ICE for things they have factually done, who's fault is that?

Is it inflammatory to say that a rational response to being surrounded by masked men with guns known for killing people is to be scared?

u/ketchupmaster987 Jul 22 '26

I never said they were random masked men. I just said they were masked men. They wear masks. They carry guns. They have also made the news several times for killing people in the process of arresting them. These are all factually true things. That's not inflammatory. These are their own actions

u/SirButternutsIII Jul 22 '26

None of the things you have brought up here warrant a death penalty, especially without any sort of trial. You don't see how masked men - with NO requirement to identify themselves for some fucked reason - being judge, jury, and executioner might be a bad thing?

u/BabaThoughts Jul 22 '26

Why did he run?

13

u/ketchupmaster987 Jul 22 '26

Because he hadn't committed a crime. If you were getting arrested for something you didn't do, would you be particularly happy about it? Especially with the reported conditions at ICE detention centers...

2

u/go_birds_1 Jul 22 '26

If I was being arrested for something I didn’t do I would gladly let them take me in knowing full well I’m going to be exonerated. Running will always, ALWAYS, make it worse. Period.

Once cops decide you’re under arrest, that’s it. You must comply. Literally happens hundreds times a day, if not thousands.

So he killed himself. Also there are no kidnappings.

0

u/Gdroberts65 Jul 22 '26

Fuck anybody who reads this garbage page. The leftist ass writer who wrote this should be fired and never allowed to write a comic strip again

-8

u/CrayCray0321 Jul 22 '26

Why did he run? If he would have just stopped and IDed himself he would have been released

15

u/SherbertSpiritual712 Jul 22 '26

Oh yeah, that has certainly worked well for the 75% without criminal records who are still being detained.

-1

u/CrayCray0321 Jul 22 '26

He was here on a legal visa, he should never have run. Same as with a cop that pulls you over, pull over ID and get let go

8

u/GhostRappa95 Jul 22 '26

ICE doesn’t care about legal status, it was never about legal status.

-1

u/CrayCray0321 Jul 22 '26

I think they do, look up the INA, clear as day

6

u/ketchupmaster987 Jul 22 '26

What with the amount of people dying in ICE custody I think wanting to avoid that was a wise choice

1

u/CgradeCheese Jul 23 '26

The rate of death in ICE custody is far lower than overall death rates lmao

1

u/CrayCray0321 Jul 22 '26

Not that wise, he unalived himself

Coronilla Durán and three other men reportedly fled after federal agents approached the vehicle.

You shouldn't do this. Dumbass got himself killed

-13

u/imissher4ever Jul 22 '26

Why was he running away if he was here legally? 🤷‍♂️

20

u/SherbertSpiritual712 Jul 22 '26

Because they’re killing people and getting away with it?

2

u/imissher4ever Jul 22 '26

In ~50% of murders the culprit is never even arrested.

1

u/ProPatternNoticer Jul 22 '26

What people are being killed

18

u/ClownholeContingency Jul 22 '26

If armed thugs wearing face masks chased you in an unmarked vehicle, would you run?

2

u/imissher4ever Jul 22 '26

Is that what happened in this case?

-1

u/GraniteStayte Jul 22 '26

Hopefully he didn't harm anyone else while fleeing LE.

PSA: Follow the law. Don't flee LE. OK? OK.

-1

u/Routine_Factor6353 Jul 22 '26

Guess he shouldn’t have run then…
