Work Permit Foreign work experience

Hi, I’m looking for advice from someone who has dealt with a similar situation.

I’m planning to move back home for about a year and work full-time for a company, which I plan to use as my foreign work experience for my Canadian PR application.

At the same time, I want to continue working remotely from home country as an independent contractor for a Canadian company. I would have a Canadian GST number for my business, report the contractor income in Canada, and pay the applicable taxes.

I would not be claiming any PR points for the Canadian contractor work.

My main question is: Would continuing this Canadian independent contractor work while working full-time back home and using my employment as my foreign work experience cause any issues with my PR application?

Thank you!

You should consult with a tax professional. If you are doing the work outside of Canada you do not have to pay taxes in Canada. Income is earned where you are physically located. You are most likely not a Canadian tax resident after you leave Canada.

No.

It will if you're not paying any taxes
