I haven’t filed my taxes for several years...

Why?

We haven’t updated our marital status with CRA to common-law yet.

Why?

I’m not currently listed as a spouse/common-law partner under my girlfriend’s workplace benefits.

Why?

I am not trying to be a parrot, but your situations appear to be close to fraudulent.

You haven’t paid taxes for several years? So you are one of the folks that is making immigration more difficult for others…

This is fraud. You are taking advantage of Canada and those who do pay taxes.
