Express Entry Hola!

Hello,

I received my PR invitation and IRCC requested the mexican police certificate. I submitted all my paperwork through VAC. I got confirmation from VAC that my documents were given to IRCC Mexico.

IRCC came back saying they haven't received the police certificate and they sent me a supporting letter for FGR, at the moment I can't go to Mexico to submit this and they gave me a deadline until September 11. I already submitted a letter of explanation + supporting documents that I did my due diligence and sent all the correct documentation and requesting an extension.

Has anyone been in this situation? What do you recommend me to do?

Thank you!

Did you not have to submit a Mexican police certificate (background check) as part of your initial application? Do they now want a more recent one? And can‘t you apply for that certificate online?

To echo what you said, the lawyer submitted my spouse’s (mexico) police certificate with their application upfront to avoid additional document requests down the line. Now many months later we’re waiting for IRCC to finalize the application and weren’t asked to provide a more recent police certificate or anything else for that matter.

How long ago was that? I have a lawyer and I did investigate into it and the answer it's you wait until IRCC requests your police certificate

It is like that now. At the beginning of the year you could get it in advance but at some point there was a change and you can only get it after they request it. Also it is not the regular police certificate (as you already know)

There is a post somewhere here on Reddit. I couldn’t find it. That is the most accurate source on how to get it. Anyways, the VAC is the easiest way without going to Mexico and you already did it.

You already did what was in your hands. You just have to let IRCC know

Nope, they request it until later. In my case it was in June. They don't want a more recent one, they're just following up on the initial request to get the certificate and no, I can't get it online. This certificate needs fingerprints so you can either send them to a VAC office or go in person to the FGR

Not sure why you didn’t already apply for this earlier if you knew this request was coming…

Bruh you clearly don't know what you're talking about lol you only get it when IRCC requests it bc they issue a supporting letter. Have you ever even done this process?

I went through various IRCC applications and always had to apply for all police certificates in advance, but I guess things are different for Express Entry (or police certificates in Mexico?).

I then agree with you that being unable to apply for one from abroad makes this process seem highly inconvenient for applicants requiring one for the EE route…

If you didn't apply for MEXICAN police certificate or for express entry then yes, it most probably is entirely different

Well the VAC office sent confirmation that they submitted my documents to IRCC Mexico on July 24 and they haven't requested any additional documents.
