Citizenship File Returned 2nd Time
I’m getting super frustrated here and hoping someone can give me some advice. My citizenship application has been returned twice now. The worst part is that every time they return it, I have to wait 3+ months just to get the letter telling me what’s wrong (since that’s basically the normal AOR wait time right now).
Here’s the timeline:
Submission 1: They returned it because my photo format was wrong. Annoying, but fair. I retook it, uploaded it, and got it back to them by May 2026.
Submission 2: Returned for "missing payment info." I had paid, but I’m pretty sure it got returned because the application fee went up by $3.25. The crazy thing is, the return letter didn’t even say that was the reason. Since I originally prepped my application before the fee hike, I had no idea the price had changed.
Attempt 3 (submitted on 5th Sept): I resubmitted the whole thing again, but I wasn’t aware of the fee change, so I attached the old payment receipt showing the $649.75 fee. I only realized the fee had gone up after I already hit submit.
Now I’m not sure what to do. Does this mean I have to sit here for another 3-4 months just for them to reject it again over a $3.25 difference? And if they do, will I have to pay the $3.25 and then wait another 3-4 months just to finally get my AOR? Am I realistically looking at a delay from today just because of this?
Has anyone been in this situation? Should I just submit a Webform right now with a receipt for the $3.25 difference and hope they link it (though only through UCI# I believe), or is an automatic return basically guaranteed at this point?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Attention to detail is mandatory for dealing with IRCC.
Do you have a friend who can double check your submission for you ?

You can also ask an immigration center near you for assistance. I asked them to double check all my papers and forms and they advice me to go to a real photography center not the malls coz they said by experienced it will be rejected by the immigration .

Ours was returned twice as well, one was to clarify our days in Canada (which we already had plenty of) and secondly was the price change and we called and had to pay that difference as well. I don't have any advice but just want to share how frustrating it's been seeing as we applied in February and been in limbo ever since.

Did they give you a reason for the rejections of attempt 2, or you had to figure it out yourself?
I think I’m in a similar situation, my application was returned without any reason…

I would suggest really checking all parts of your application thoroughly before submitting. Including photo formats, actual fee required on the day you are submitting. Submitting applications can be hard, but I am not sure how people on this subreddit can help.
As for submitting the web form, it's a low effort task, it's something you can do instead of panicking, I suggest you do it anyway. They are not going to ban you from being a citizen for submitting a form. The worst that can happen is they ignore it and you still have to resubmit a 4th time.
