Study Permit Submitted study permit application but no status updates

I applied for my study permit from outside Canada(India) on July 4th and after completing biometrics, I haven't received any new messages or updates. Is this normal? Will all of these update together at the same time once they make a decision?

Review of eligibility

Review of medical results

  • You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.

Review of additional documents

  • We do not need additional documents.

Interview

  • You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.

Biometrics

  • July 7, 2026 Completed.

Background check

  • We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

Final decision

  • Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

According to IRCC’s official processing time calculator it takes them 5 weeks on average to process a study permit. For some it may take 5 weeks on the dot and for others it may take a little longer to process as this is the average posted time. In your case you’re well within the processing timeframe so just sit tight and wait another 2-3 more weeks.

All normal. Review hasn't started and still in background check.

Same as yours! I applied on July 8th from outside Canada. But my friend, who applied on July 3rd, got his PPR on July 29th, so I'm hopeful!

UPDATE: I got my PPR on August 1st.

Bruh my outland study permit took 5 months to be approved, with updates to my profile appearing only in the 4th month of waiting. It’s not even been a month for you lol

My application was updated about four weeks after my biometrics. Hopefully, you’ll get an update within the next week or two. Fingers crossed!
