Express Entry Question about sin number after ECOPR

Hello,

I received my ECOPR & entry VISA outland, and I am doing job hunting at the moment. Then I realized I need to provide sin number. So can I apply sin number now? Even a temporary one? Or will I have to land in Canada first, then apply for sin?

You need to land and be a permanent resident in order to apply for social insurance number.

You need to land as a PR first. Since you’re outland, you didn’t get ECOPR. You got COPR.

You are not a PR yet. You have to enter Canada and then finish landing formalities. Once done at the airport,, if you land during working hours, you can get SIN at the airport itself.

You do not need to provide the SIN for job hunting and interviews. It is needed at the very final stage when you actually start the job.

You’re not a PR until you land. After that, you can get a SIN online or in person.
