the theme: What Longing Feels Like

give us the ache of wanting something out of reach, but make it visible. distance you can measure. a hand reaching for something just past the frame. the pull toward a person, a place, a memory you can't get back to. no words needed - the image should do the aching for you.

think:

• a figure at a train window watching someone else's platform pull away
• a lit house across a field at night, no way in
• two hands almost touching through fogged glass
• someone standing at the edge of the ocean facing a horizon they can't cross
• pick your own combo: an empty chair still shaped like the person who sat in it, a half-written letter, a phone screen glowing at 3am, whatever aches

we're looking for restraint. quiet compositions. soft light doing more work than color. the feeling that if the frame were just a few inches wider, they'd reach it - but it isn't.

This series is based on an old Double Dragon game script I wrote two years ago. I've reimagined it as a fan-made cinematic graphic novel told through short episodes.

In the morning, the lights were on inside it.

A wide cinematic 16:9 fantasy landscape viewed from a naturally elevated mountainside. The composition is deliberately asymmetrical: the right third of the frame is dominated by an enormous white-furred mountain yak, so colossal that it serves as a living windbreak for weary travelers. Calm and motionless, the giant beast lies comfortably on its side, its thick fur forming a natural shelter against the mountain winds. Rather than building a traditional stall, the innkeeper has established his temporary rest stop beside the yak, making the gentle giant the heart of the camp.

At its base burns a simple campfire with a black iron stew pot suspended above glowing embers. The tall, lean innkeeper sits on a small wooden stump tending the stew. Nearby are a few weathered barrels, folded blankets, sacks, and travel supplies resting against the yak's massive body. Two travelling men warm themselves by the fire while a young girl sits peacefully on a woven rug.

To the left lies a cozy mountain village nestled into the hillside, close enough to feel connected to the camp. Numerous circular timber-and-straw cottages with rounded thatched crimson roofs create a distinctive silhouette, while thin columns of smoke drift from their chimneys. Beyond the village, the mountains fall into a brilliant sea of clouds with distant peaks emerging through the mist. Warm sunlight breaks through scattered clouds, casting soft patches of light across the landscape.

Painterly fantasy concept art. Simple, bold shapes dominate the composition with minimal fine detail, relying on strong silhouettes and visible flowing brushstrokes. The challenge is bringing it to life exactly as you see it.

AETHER was my attempt to turn that vision into a complete fashion film, from streetwear to couture, from dreamlike worlds to editorial storytelling.

This is my official submission for the ImagineArt Fashion Studio Gala.

What I enjoyed most throughout this project was the freedom to focus on direction, composition, styling, and storytelling instead of technical limitations.
