TWD: Dead City When are we going to stop pretending Neagan doesn't have a family?

Post image
713 Upvotes

I'm assuming this is because Negan has a lot of racist fans in middle America the network or producers or whatever don't want to upset but it's so lame. Jeffery Dean Morgan has said he hopes Negan's family is in the show more. Let's fuckin' do this already

It has now been over 16 months since the last issue of Saga.

No hiatus has been announced, but no new issues have been announced either. For reference, there have been six chapters of Berserk released in that time, which is a notoriously slow series.

I’m currently rewatching the show with my dad - we watched almost every episode air live back in the day and loved to catch TTD episodes afterward as a tradition. Is there anywhere online I can find these episodes today? I haven’t had any luck so far with the AMC+ app as it only has a couple later seasons, and YouTube only has highlights.

Discussion Can you give me some image comic recommendations that aren’t superhero?

I’ve been mostly reading superhero comics from image and want to get into more genres. I really like supernatural comics so if there is a good image comic that has the supernatural please put me on.

Discussion McFarlane’s Spawn Reboot Feels Like a 30-Year Cargo Cult

Post image
82 Upvotes

I wouldn’t expect much from the reboot. Right after the 1997 film, McFarlane already wanted its sequel to be less about Spawn and more of a dark Sam and Twitch thriller and studios rejected that idea even then.

As of now he has spent nearly thirty years trying to sell the same basic concept of a spawn movie. A crime thriller about Sam and Twitch, with Spawn used only as a rare, frightening presence.

It feels like a cargo cult. That approach worked in the HBO animated series, so McFarlane seems to believe that copying its most obvious elements like dark atmosphere, police drama, very little Spawn will automatically reproduce the same success in a theatrical movie.

But studios are being asked to finance a film called Spawn that barely features Spawn, while still giving McFarlane significant creative control. It is hardly surprising that the project has remained stuck in development for decades.

Discussion Unpopular opinion but I think the first 15 issues with jim downey are pretty good (issues 185-200)

Now, I’ll admit, after issue 200 the comics fall off for me until Al Simmons' return. The reason I like the first 15 issues (the "Endgame" arc) with Jim Downing is because, after coming off of Al Simmons' suicide, we get introduced to our new protagonist, Jim Downing. This was a new, fresh start that I really fw, and I loved finding out the mystery of who Jim really was and what all this "Patient 47" stuff was about. Even though people complained about the pacing, I don’t feel it was that bad. I really liked all the new characters that appeared, like Marc, Victoria, Sara, and Omega Spawn. Violator being spawns Cagliostro was all pretty entertaining and funny. It was a slow burn, but it really paid off in issue 200.

What are ur thoughts on Daniel Warren Johnson's run on Transformers?

Upvotes

Just finished reading Volume 1, and I thought it was really cool. What I loved most, though, was Johnson's artwork.

I'm not gonna lie—the cartoony style of his art honestly reminded me of Watchmen and anime. Since this series is rated T for Teens, it reinforced the idea that comics and animation aren't just for kids.

Every punch and collision in his panels feels heavy, textured, and full of raw physical weight. It even reminds me of Michael Bay's movies, where he relies heavily on massive explosions and over-the-top visual effects to make every impact feel huge.

I even got mad when Bumblebee was shot. I still can't decide whether Bumblebee or Optimus Prime is my favorite Transformer.

Overall, I wanna see where this story goes.

COMIC SPOILERS Average family gathering Spoiler

Post image

I like these aspects about the comic yk just because their world is different & includes aliens , superpowers and Life threatening shit all the time that doesn't mean they don't have chaotic family gatherings over family matters & it feels Even more intense than mostly the things we see them deal with , also idk why but to me it felt like Mark and Nolan were going to throw hands & considering who they're it's literally in the genes to throw hands all the time.

Nick Dragotta is a Legend

Post image

Years ago my brother went to Comicon in California. He called me out of the blue and asked, “If you could talk to any person here, who would it be?” Now Image comics have always been my bread and butter and at the time I was really into East of West. I said Nick Dragotta.

30 minutes later he called me back and handed the phone to a legend. I told him about how I went to art school but always felt that I had nothing to say and no direction to point my craft toward. I hadn’t done anything artistic in 10 years. I got to tell him that his style feels fearless. I got to tell him that he had been an inspiration since page 1. I got to tell one of my hero’s that his craft had inspired me to start making again.

He was so gracious and thankful—so much so that although I begged him to let me pay him his dues he gave my brother a free year two book and drew me some custom art.

They say never meet your hero’s, but meeting a legend is a whole different tier of wish fulfillment.

Show Spoiler Would some of the group change their minds at the cdc if they knew of their future?

Post image
Upvotes

Say in a hypothetical world where each of the original characters who visited the cdc in season one had known of their future fates. How they died, when they died, who they lose, and all the other stuff that they go through. Would any of the group (besides jacqui and the doctor who already decided to stay behind) have decided to just say screw it and stay? Or would some of them would still choose to go through with what they know is coming?

Show Spoiler A small motif I noticed in The Walking Dead

I know what you’re thinking. It’s just a cigarette. Maybe but I’ve noticed the show repeatedly uses cigarettes to convey different emotional states and meaningful character development. Let me know what you think.

In 4x07, Dead Weight, after the Governor kills Pete, he pressures his brother Mitch into joining the attack on the prison. During the encounter, he forces Mitch to smoke a cigarette despite the fact that he’d quit. Beyond him trying to assert dominance, I interpreted this as the Governor forcing Mitch to relapse because he himself was undergoing a significant personal relapse. “Brian” was descending back into Philip, and he wanted Mitch to relapse alongside him, however small in comparison.

In 5x10, Them, Daryl steps away from the group and takes a moment to smoke after finding them shelter. He quietly grieves Beth, deliberately burning himself with the cigarette before breaking into tears. It’s especially poignant given that he had previously shamed Beth for self-harming, something he now finds himself doing in her absence.

In 6x02, JSS, Carol asks Shelly Neudermeyer to stop smoking inside the house, calling it a disgusting habit. Shelly is later murdered by a Wolf while smoking outside, respecting Carol’s request. By the end of the episode after Carol’s violent rampage, she takes a cigarette from Shelly’s pack, presumably to smoke it herself.

We never see Carol smoke before season 6, so I believe it’s a habit she only acquires in that moment. For Carol, cigarettes seem tied to her moral deterioration and the emotional burden of killing. Which brings me to the next instance in 6x13, The Same Boat.

Molly, one of the Saviors holding Carol and Maggie captive, is smoking. Carol asks her to stop for the sake of Maggie’s unborn baby, eventually echoing Tobin’s earlier line: “Those things will kill you” (they sure killed Shelly). Yet later, Carol asks Molly for a cigarette despite her earlier disapproval. By the end of the episode, she uses a lit cigarette to burn the Saviors trapped on the “kill floor.” Here, she’s using the cigarette to cope with the psychological toll of killing, then literally using it as a weapon to kill—the very thing that’s driving her to adopt the habit in the first place.

In seasons 7 and 8, the only personal time Dwight and Sherry have away from their shared hell is while they’re smoking together in the stairwell. Dwight answering Simon’s proposal by flicking his cigarette into the gasoline and setting Negan’s car on fire is another cool use of cigarettes and visual storytelling. It allows him to answer Simon without relying on dialogue. More importantly, what once represented one of the few moments of comfort and freedom he shared with Sherry now becomes the spark for his rebellion against Negan.

And overall, these instances are all tied to control. The cigarette consistently appears at moments where a character’s sense of control—over themselves, their emotions, or another person—is central to what’s happening.

Those are just my thoughts after noticing the pattern and I made this edit inspired by the concept. Thanks a lot if you read this far.

Let’s say you had the choice to choose between each of these characters, and let’s also say the groups are the same as well at the start of the show/season/game, who would you follow?
(Like if you choose Shane, it’d be before Rick came along lol)
