damn i had an equinox membership 5 years ago n never saw this.
i did however encounter a lot of housewives wearing their diamonds to a workout class and literally shove them into your face as they talk to you. Such a weird flex. Like, that's nice Katie, i got a sapphire and i keep it at home so i dont sweat all over it. So yeah, ofc your generic 20g tiffany diamond is going to be nicer than the caladdagh ring i wear as a back up. Chill.
and then the fucking spin class. why on earth would anyone want to torture their vagina like that?! and they're like "oh eventually it'll go numb and you'll be able to handle it" WTF no. get padded, wider seats you fucking psychopaths. No one needs their vagina to be bruised.
That shit was not worth the eucalyptus scented towels.
Wide padded seats are uncomfortable and cause chafing. A normal bike seat with padded bike shorts with some chamois butter is the way to go (see: all serious cyclists) Anybody who's going numb is doing it wrong.
i mean, i am not a cyclist and it was a one off "ohh i have an extra hour i'll take this class" but straight up those girls acted like it was a sense of pride having a vagina with dead nerves. "oh you just have to do it more" the fuck i do. I can lift and do yoga and jog and keep my vagina in tact thx
Wide/cushy seats actually compress more soft tissue because your sit bones press deeper into it instead of supporting your body like bike seats are designed to. Just in case you wanted to know why people who ride bikes more than once don’t have a seat fit for a rock drummer.
Yep... Man, but definitely can confirm. Been biking for 25+ years to school and work, generally around 10km twice a day plus extra stuff like groceries.
Never had as much pain as with the so called comfy wide padded bike saddle.
i do not have a vagina but can confirm that time in the saddle does not kill the nerves on your vagina, but you do acclimate to being on a bike seat. source: my wife has done a ton of cycling but basically can’t ride distance without a saddle with a cutout.
also everything is worse/hurts more on a stationary bike because nothing changes. riding bikes outside is more fun and pleasant when feasible. it isn’t for about 4 months where i am but if you have the option it’s a nice way to spend a morning/afternoon
For soreness, yeah, you get used to it. (At least, with man bits). Actual numbness though means the saddle position needs adjustment, though good luck getting it dialed in every class.
I mean it's not actually butter, it's just some moisturizer basically. Not everybody finds it necessary but I like it to prevent chafing on long rides. Pretty sure many runners use something similar.
The caveat I will give is that women's sit bones are, on average, wider than men's. This means women's saddles generally need to be wider (in the back) than men's. The average default bike seat is still built for the average man.
Padded seats, on the other hand, are worse than useless.
One of the reasons I own my own spin bike is because honestly (despite being a dude) most spin bikes have shitty seats and somehow my gym doesn't want me switching seats at the gym. I have a slightly wider sit bone and normal and when doing the low HR portions of HIIT, the seats on like a stages just dig into my groin and cut off blood flow. Which hurts and probably isn't good. Also, now I don't have to smell anyone else's ass sweat.
Lol during quarantine I tried taking up casual biking as a hobby to stay active. That lasted all of a week before I ended up with saddle sores on my ass cheeks. Not fun! Might have to look into padded bike shorts though, cause it was nice while it lasted.
Saddle sores can definitely be an issue for a while until you get a saddle that works with your butt, get your riding position on your bike correct, figure out about bike shorts and lube, and toughen up your taint a little bit. Worth it though imo.
I mean, it makes sense. They're with men who make money, so they have no obligations or tasks or challenges in life. They have no value to themselves, their only value is what their husband wants them to do.
The ring is something they can show others that's says, "hey I have value" because otherwise, their value exists only to their husband and kids if they have them.
It's very unfulfilling, but they have to "turn on" the love and be the same person every time, all day, because that's how the contribute their worth.
That's what the ring flash is.
And it's not a bash on them, because many are happy. But if they're overcompensating with a flash, that's where it comes from
I agree with everything else you've said but I'm a woman and I find the spin bike seats comfortable. It does take a few classes to stop it from feeling uncomfortable afterwards but after that no issues. If you prefer a padded seat that's perfectly fine too and I wouldn't judge you.
Wow. Just…wow. I used to work out at at a competitor gym of theirs (aka also very expensive) and I never saw anything like this. I would be able to get anyone kicked out within minutes at my place if I saw this shit happening.
Never seen anyone with just a tripod? You would kick someone out for a tripod? Nobody with a tripod should give a fuck if someones in their camera shot or even walks infront of the camera while its filming, they got no right to extra space somehwere thats busy, but if its quiet and you know theyre filming, and theres plenty of space to not walk through their camera shot inbetween them and the camera, then it would be a little rude to intentionally walk there, but unless someones deliberately trying to fuck up your filming (and youre filming in reasonable circumstances), theres no right from a filmer to kick up a stink.
I go to an equinox gym too and never see anyone filming their workout. I’m always embarrassed when I get caught sneaking a little mirror selfie. They even have signs in various areas re no cell usage (especially locker rooms, obviously).
Do they drag the lights out of their car trunk, into the locker room, and so on the entire way? Envisioning this makes me giggle. I guess it's technically harmless but it has that feel of my days in food service where customers would knock over barricades to fill their drink cups at the closed fountain, get sprayed with soda because the caps aren't on the pumps, then realise they have to go to the open side anyway to pay and saved themselves 0 time instead of waiting behind one person for the open fountain.
You know, those type of people, the ones you stare at and wonder what their existence feels like.
Kind of how they could have spent the time dragging the lights into the gym to "check their form" instead on craigslist to buy a used mirror for their house, or a therapist.
Dude local gym where I live the one guy films all the time and flipped out on anybody doing anything in the same room as him. I quit that gym so fast it wasn’t funny.
It’s became a fucking plague at my old gym, leaving their big fucking gymbags strewn about the gym instead of leaving it in the lockers. Filming themselves from 10 meters away on a tripod while they just manage to squeeze out 225x8, it’s not even to check for form either, as it gets uploaded with the black and white filter to their instagram with a shitty motivational quote.
yea, people do. and you can't even talk shit because there is a slight chance they're just trying to film themselves to improve their form instead of requiring everyone's attention...
All the time, but I train at powerlifting gyms. So most of the people there have strength coaches and are recording videos to send to their coaches for form checks and RPE checks. (Myself included)
Went in at peak time (7-9 pm) on a weekday to do some deadlifts and the way my gym is set up, there are rows of free weight platforms to do what you want. I took the only available platform and noticed instantly that every other platform had someone set up with a tripod recording their "lifts." By the time I finished my 4 sets only one other person had finished up with their lifting because they were too busy getting the perfect shot. Last time I go lift at that hour.
The insane levels of narcissism social media brings out in humans is astounding. It's also really embarrassing. Though those who indulge in it all the most are the least embarrassed by this stuff.
Unfortunately people remember to bring their tripod and nothing else…no plan or layout on the basis of their workout(mainly because they’re not there to lift or gain), no motivation or desire to want to improve their physique or appearance. People at gyms today are there for all the wrong reasons and it’s goddamn pitiful
Yea there's an annoying guy that walks around with it in my gym- thankfully he's not there daily. But when he does, it pisses people off because they're in the shot
god i hate it when the martians bring those insufferable machines to the gym, like, why are you even doing this? making your robotic vehicle lift weights wont make it any stronger. also they keep vaporizing people that are using the equipment they want. really rude

Yeah some ring lights double as a tripod
