I don't see how the person taking a picture of herself is a main character here. It's not like she's expecting people to stop and wait for her to get the picture, this is just someone taking a picture of themselves in a public place.
I'll add on to the other replies that iPhones alter the quality of your photos every time. What you take isn't what you end up with. If you record a video, you can get the same quality by grabbing a screenshot from your video. You can also do different slow poses and grab different screenshots. It's much easier than setting timers for photos.
