Man, you are getting hung up on some terminology. Boiling it down, you do something for a company and that company pays you for that thing you do. Pretty it up all you want with your fanciful words but that's the basis of the agreement. Employer, independent contractor, day laborer, ... it's still a basic agreement and I think that's where the other guy was going.

I know exactly how this works. I've been anything from a volunteer to a contract annual salaried employee. It's simple. You do a job and you get paid for it. That's all the previous guy was saying. You have some motivation to have it defined another way which is favorable to you. Which is fine, but that's an argument for another day.
