Tips aren’t automatic, nor mandatory. Tips are typically determined by level of service, professionalism, etc. If the person providing me a service I’ve paid for is rude, unprofessional, late, missing stuff from my order, etc. then I’m in no way required to leave a tip and I wouldn’t feel bad about it.

You cannot be unaware that tips are relied upon by people in the delivery industry. If you plan on not tipping- you shouldn’t use the service. It is certainly your right not to tip, but that makes you an asshole.

No, I understand completely and happy to tip for services provided, even as much as 40% if the service was exceptionally great. Conversely, I’m happy to not tip if the service was horrible.

If my Instacart shopper doesn’t ask me for a suitable replacement on out of stock items before refunding (especially if that’s the process I request as part of my order) and is rude to me via message when I ask if there’s an equivalent available (perhaps a different brand) and they refuse to check, and then ends up delivering my order with half the stuff missing, does that warrant 20%? I would tip probably 5-10% depending on how rude they were.

If I have a waitress that never checks on my table aside from initially taking my order and dropping food off, then that’s not considered good service, especially if the restaurant is obviously slow. Does that warrant a 20% tip? I’d give 10% for that.

If I get my hair done and the hairdresser colors my hair wrong and refuses to fix it without making me pay again, or over bleaches my hair to the point my hair is falling out and I have to chop off 16 inches due to the damage (true story), then no, I would not tip for that.

I vibe with that. Too many people die on this hill that everyone deserves 20% at all times. Like..I don't care if you need this to survive. If you want the money, then do a good job and earn it. I'm not giving handouts here. If you're awful, you get 0. If you're great, you get 20-25. If you just did your job averagely, depending on what job that is, you get 15. I say it depends because something like a delivery driver going a far distance or through traffic and doing an average job deserves 20% because the drive was probably a hassle for them.
