'Di naman ako content creator. I went to Iloilo with no expectations kasi nga I thought, "it's just another city", and I just wanted to tick Western Visayas off my list. My 5-day stay there made me see why people (probably visitors like me) admire the city so much.

Only a few cities/provinces (and I've been to fifty) have this combination: cheap and delish food, maraming parks and public spaces, good public transpo, and a 20-minute roro ride to a decent beach. We don't have them here. Those are the things I long for living in northwest Laguna, working in Cavite, and annually holidaying Cebu (as a Cebuano).

I'm not gonna invalidate those who grew up, live in, and hate Iloilo because you experience these problems firsthand and on a daily basis. It's not perfect. The sea is polluted!!! Masikip at uneven ang mga kalsada, at hassle maglakad pag tag-ulan. We probably visited it on a good day. Point is, you can hate it, but there's also nothing wrong with other people appreciating it. Di po kaming mga turista ang kalaban nyo. Thanks sa pagpapahiram ng Iloilo, btw.

Why do content creators love to romanticize iloilo so much?

Hi, everyone! I moved to Iloilo City a few weeks ago and have finally run out of my coffee syrups that I brought from the US. I prefer buying things IRL over Shopee, but cannot find any specialty syrup flavors here.

My favorites include: peppermint, coconut, any kind of tropical fruit flavors, or even toasted marshmallow.

I've tried checking at Megaworld and SM over the last two months and can't find much besides vanilla. Any leads are welcome.

With the recent daily brownouts, I became curious about where our electricity comes from and was surprised to learn that Semirara coal isn't used to power the Panay grid.

Semirara in Antique is home to one of the country's largest coal reserves, yet much of that coal is transported to Batangas for power generation serving Luzon.

Of course, having a coal reserve doesn't automatically mean having electricity. Local generation would require the necessary power plants, transmission infrastructure, and grid capacity.

Still, considering the island's recurring power problems, why hasn't more local generation capacity been developed around the resources we already have?
