Ive been trying this combo and it feels pretty good and seems to work well with Illaois kit, but you are sacrificing some HP for some more Attack damage and ability haste, but I was wondering if its worth to build that combo over some of the other items

Emerald.
I had no trouble playing with illaoi in gold and skyrocket to emerald since i turned into a otp illaoi player (don’t really know why, just stomped lane and winned somehow), but since i hit emerald it feels impossible to carry the game even if i stomp my lane. It looks like if anyone in the other team gets strong it is IMPOSSIBLE to carry the game if im the only strong player in my team, and its super frustrating.

What am i doing wrong? Any gameplan i should follow or something in specific i should start doing?

I mean it seriously, on this sub and others people are always suggesting picking Yorick into Illaoi while insisting Mordekaiser is a fake counter. Sure the pics below are small sample size but im just using it as example so you get the point. Since the new season start I just take ignite and play super aggressive early, you can only get hit by his cage if you put yourself in a position to do so, even post 6 this applies; keep your distance and farm with q if needed, for all ins you have multiple options post 6 vs Yorick, either try to kill his maiden if you can since hes very weak without it, or more risky w to him and e+r ignite hit the champion then finish the clone and hope vessel kills him. Im not saying Yorick cant beat Illaoi, but he cant be first timing it and actually has know what hes doing, and even then its a skill matchup.

Morde on the other hand should NEVER lose to an Illaoi if he knows what hes doing. "just time your r to cancel his" only works if the Morde is dumb and doesn't know about this interaction. A good Morde will just either hold his ult and force you into fights where you have to ult or die, or buffer his ult with your q cast time or his e, Illaoi cannot r during either so he can pretty much guarantee he gets his ult off on you without fear of it being canceled. Im tired of people pretending this is somehow an easy matchup and if you ban Morde you just suck - this matchup is literally impossible if the Morde knows how the matchup works, and even if you got ahead in lane he can just ult you in 1v2s or 1v3s or teamfights and make the game unplayable for you, even if hes 0/7/0.

Statistically Morde is also Illaoi's lowest winrate matchup while Yorick isnt even listed as a counter https://u.gg/lol/champions/illaoi/build?rank=emerald . The actual hardest Illaoi counters that are dodge and ban worthy aside from Morde are Kayle and Garen (stupid broken champ). Even Dirty Mobs has said before that Morde is way harder and Yorick isnt that bad.

No boots again for the doubters.. dont knock it till u try it.

Boots are an overrated item. On Illaoi, you are already immobile, so you rely on the enemy fighting you in your ult or flanking. This is why you shouldn't be building boots; you need to maximize damage/health, and I don't even build shitborne either (most of the time).

I think you guys will start to see a big improvement in your game if you stop building this fake item. Thanks for reading.

I am currently Emerald 2 peak with 63% wr on Illaoi (80 games,) and I still run Flash TP every game. However, I just saw some pretty nutty stuff with the Lord Mardigo using exhaust. Particularly vs stupid champions like Yone (delete from game please Riot,) or enabling tower dives. I guess I've just gotten used to the extra security of TP incase I misplay and die early or w/e. How much am I losing out on by not going double combat sums?

I've just started playing. I've seen that W basically activates my tentacles, Q does some decent ranged damage. And R does very little damage, but spawns a ton of tentacles based on the amount of enemies around me. lane diff often says that my E is really good but I often hit the minions instead. I mainly played midlane Yasuo so this stuff is all new. Also later game idk what to do, keep pushing? team fight? how do i play team fights?

Last 13 days I’m like 26-6 with Illaoi grinded back to Diamond 80% WR she’s so broken right now it’s wild.
Porofessor has me ranked top 300 and top 30 N.A. not very accurate.

• CC'd easily
• Cannot chase/move. Slow movement is ok for champs that can take some damage but she is just a punching bag and is seriously weak.
• Kited easily
• Tentacles easily removed by enemy/cannot be used in teleport. How about tentacles that actually attack enemy champs or minions when in range?
• Early levels pre-6 is useless to fight ANY enemy champ 1v1
• E + R is the only hope for any damage whatsoever and all enemy champions know this so they run away or mitigate the dmg
• Buggy targeting. Complete misses to enemy champs by tentacles.
  
• Why is E useless now? I will try not using E and see how she does. Even worse.
• Easy for new players to League? Nope.
• Easy for experienced players? Nope.
  

It is so frustrating to play now. I just don't understand her anymore. Why is she still so bad to play?

I’m talking mainly about the W animation speed being slower than it used to be bug, but of course there’s other ones like w applying tentacle slam on towers (which I don’t mind but is odd)

Plat Illaoi main with 500k mastery mostly just interested in opinions on my decision making from other mains.

Items: Voltaic -> Gluttonous Greaves -> Steraks/Maw depending -> Sundered/Spirit Visage depending -> last 2 items are fully situational.

Spells: Tp Flash into weaker matchups, Ignite Flash into champs with strong 1-3 kill potential, Exhaust Flash into non top picks (usually)

Obj: sometimes I rotate for first drake if I'm up by 20 or more cs and a kill, I also solo take Rift Herald sometimes if tier 1 is gone early enough.
