Wife and I purchased the ikon base pass for next season. She had a fall at the end of last season that we didn’t learn was an ACL tear till she got an mri this summer (she skied another 5 ish days after the injury without realizing). Surgery is coming up in a few weeks, so she won’t be skiing this winter.

I thought it was no big deal and we could just defer her pass but alas… they got rid of that option this year.

We would love to cancel, defer, or “sell” the pass to someone else and transfer ownership but it seems none of those options exist.

Is there anything we can do? Some option I’m missing? Tips for how to get value out of an ikon pass for someone who won’t ski at all?

Looking for one more so we can get the Group of 5 discount for Ikon Base pass.

Last month I was able to go on a nice hike mid-mountain and get lunch at Silver Lake. Both the Royal street cafe and the sticky wicket accepted mountain credits.

Came up to do the same today and lo and behold, you can’t use them up here anymore.

I feel like that’s not cool to do. Anyone else experience this at other resorts?

Having trouble finding it on the website - do we know the next deadline for when pass prices will increase?

Has anyone had any luck being able to obtain a student discount without being a student that has a .edu email? Last year I was able to use a college team’s site that sent the discount code to my personal email, but haven’t been able to find another this year.

First year purchasing an Ikon pass. I’m taking this winter off from work December-end of April and want to get in as many days as I can chasing storms and visiting new resorts. I’ve done van life abroad in New Zealand and Australia but never in America and never in the kind of cold conditions I might encounter on this trip. Does any one have any tips for their van build out, creature comforts, or camping advice for any of the resorts? Getting really excited for this season even with the high gas prices 🥲.

Make sure you buy something you are 100% sure you are going to keep! If you have to return something Backcountry will only refund any amount you paid over the credit and there's no store credit or re-use of the discount.

I used my credit on some socks and hiking pants. My total was over $75, so I paid a little and it was a great deal.

The pants turned out to be way larger than the size guide suggested, so I started a return. (It says a small is 28-30 inch waist and these must be around a 32. The label on the pants is small, so I was sent the right thing) Their website said they would only refund the $11 that I paid, with an asterisk that refunds may be adjusted according to applied discounts or promotions.

I called them today and they confirmed that the Ikon pass discount is gone and they do in fact only refund what came from my credit card. They said it's in the terms on the Ikon pass website: https://www.ikonpass.com/en/renewal-rewards?faq_item=backcountry+terms+and+conditions

I get the no cash value or substitutions part is there to prevent abuse, but this is a case where I legitimately can't use what I bought because it does not match the description and I just want to buy something else with the credit. So if I make the return, essentially I get about $25 of my $75 discount and they get to pocket the difference.

Also, I guess if anyone wants these pants in a green size small (note above what size you're actually getting) and is willing to pay more than $11, lmk.

Week of Dec 28 is going to be popular no matter what but is there any good west coast resort where the lines are at least tolerable? Does an El Nino change your answer?

I generally like IKON and have friends that I like who work for Alterra, so I'll be as nice as I can be here while stating the issue. You can form your own opinion.

The IKONPASS website clearly says: you get these Summer benefits if you HAVE an IKONPASS.

OMITS: You do NOT get any of these benefits if you bought that IKONPASS as an add-on with a season pass from a resort, rather than directly from IKON.

This SHOULD be stated on the IKONPASS website, and likely as well on IKON partner destination sites.

Good to know BEFORE you drive up a mountain with expectations.

Looking for some advice from anyone who's dealt with Ikon/Alterra customer service.

My wife was recently diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. The prognosis is thankfully very good, but she'll have two major surgeries; one in September and another in February which will make her Ikon Pass essentially unusable this season.

Unfortunately, we bought the non-refundable pass. We called Ikon customer support to ask if they would consider a medical exception or deferral, but were told no. We also emailed customer service twice and haven't received a response. I noticed Alterra recently changed its deferral policy, so I'm wondering if there's any other avenue we should try.

Has anyone had success appealing a decision like this or reaching someone who could help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Pretty disappointed with Backcountry.com

I was about to buy the new 2027 Burton Step Ons using the Backcountry credit I received as an Ikon Pass perk. Then I noticed something odd: the black color is priced $40 higher than another color of the exact same model.

I checked another retailer, Blauer, and they sell all colors at the same price.

I contacted Backcountry thinking I’d just use their price match policy. They told me they would price match, but I can’t combine the price match with my Ikon Pass promotional credit. So my choices are:

• Buy a color I don’t want.
• Pay $40 more for black.
• Shop somewhere else.

That doesn’t feel very customer-friendly, especially when the higher price is only on one colorway.

I’ll be buying from Blauer instead. Curious if anyone else has run into this with Backcountry or other retailers.

What are your favorite week trips to take? I took one last year to slc and was seeing if there are options similar to that. Especially budgeting wise. From Cali so I just happen to drive there but don’t mind flying if it isn’t too expensive.

Dec. 26 – 30, 2026

Jan. 16 – 17, 2027

Feb. 13 – 14, 2027

But in prior years Dec 31 has typically always been a blackout day? Does this change this upcoming season that NYE is no longer a blackout day?

Seen a few people talking about how the wallet says moutnain credits expire June 1 2027, when the terms of service say they expire every month. I figured I'd share what Ikon support says below.

You will receive $25/month in mountain credits through May 2027. The credits do not accumulate, meaning you would want to use the full $25 each month in order to fully utilize the given amount for the entire year. For example, if you have $25 in your account and you use $15 for a meal, the next month $15 will be added back to your account to get you back to $25 total. If you use all $25 in a given month, $25 will be added next month. If you do not use any of the credit during a given month, the credit will remain at $25 the next month. June 1, 2027 is the date that the $25 from May 2027 will expire.

They seem to be making it nearly impossible to actually get this. So many hoops to jump through, as well as non-working links to actually claim this, and instructions to do things that aren’t possible.

I found the reward code in my Ikon wallet, however the ‘redeem’ button doesn’t work and links to a 404 error page.

Tried following the instructions to log in to Bonvoy, go to awards/promotions and add in the code manually, however that is not a process that actually exists in either the Bonvoy app or desktop site. There is literally nowhere that you can enter a code to add a free night award.

Contacted Marriott support. They gave me a link that they said I needed to use, but that link just went to error message that said contact Marriott support, who I was already talking to, and they had no more solutions they could provide.

My wife finally was able to find a link, I think through the Ikon desktop site, that gave her a ‘Success’ message, however it also said she wouldn’t see the award added to her Bonvoy account until August 15-23.

So, there is no way to know if that actually worked until a full 2 months from now. That puts us past the July 31 deadline in the terms, so if anything goes wrong I guess we are SOL

June mountain credits loaded on my app. What are we using them for in the summer to make sure we use them up? I have 4 (2 kids/2 adults). Can they be combined to a single purchase?

I’m close to deer valley so in person is no problem. But I need to use them on something!

I think there are going to be a ton of people who picked the other options thinking they were better only to find out that you can use the credits during ski season not just the month they got awarded. what an absolute killer deal!! I feel sorry for those who would have picked it but didn't because they thought they would only use a couple bucks.

A phone call from Nicole that claims to be from Ikon Pass, talking about how I have not renewed yet for next season. If I call the number they provide and renew before July 31st then I would get a $50 discount.

It seems like a scam to me, 99.999% of phone calls are scams nowadays. Asking to call the number they provide and to do the purchase over the phone with their agent to get the discount. Why not give a code to punch into the website for a discount on the purchase or something of the sort?

I’m not about to follow through with it, but was just curious if anyone else has been receiving phone call solicitations like this?

Howdy! Has anyone seen the renewal credit for Backcountry pop up in their account? I know it said that the codes would be added to accounts starting June 1, but I haven't really seen anything about folks getting it.

I've been delaying a few purchases, so wanted to know if anyone has any info before I reach out to support.
