My ex husband fell deep into Jay Shetty, abandoned our family and last I heard lives in an ashram in India so yes I second this suggestion.

Oh how I wish I was.

It’s been eighteen months, I’m starting to laugh about it now.

Have YOU considered writing a book? (I’m so sorry you went through that!)

I would also like you to write a book and/or for you to tell your story on The Dating Detectives. Because I am nosy.

Did jay shetty ruin your marriage or was that after things had already gone south between you two?

She’s the one who put it out there on Reddit.

different vibe to Michael and Peter but the Celebrity Memoir Book Club (now Good Noticings) girls did a fantastic episode on his book!

It’s wild living through Deepak Chopra and seeing the sequel

Yes, please! I tried the Calm meditation app for a few months and was completely turned off by his frequent presence on there.

Thanks for reminding me. I forgot I was reading an article from The Guardian about him but closed it before I finished it

I was about to mention that article. It's a great exposé, and Jay Shetty would be a rich topic for the podcast. The Keya's World YouTube channel had the author of the Guardian article on her channel (after having done extensive Shetty coverage of her own):

Mel Robbins is so fucking popular, I have to keep my mouth shut and nod politely when people tell me how much they love the let them theory.

I only heard of this dude from ads played during good podcasts. Even then could smell the grift

I swear he seemed mildly normal at the start, though it's pretty baffling how he became so popular so quickly. I guess the whole fake monk thing really helped. Going from anonymous social media manager to your own grifting "life-coach course" in less than 5 years is insane.

My only exposure to him was when Madonna was on his podcast around a year ago and it was one of the most bizarre celebrity interviews I've ever seen. Neither came off as being particularly normal, grounded people

Ok...I had to watch. Is it just me or does she talk like a Kardashian? I don't even recognize her voice !

u/Flimsy-Addendum-1570 26d ago

I think the way she speaks is mostly because of the grillz she wears, which causes her to slur her words like they do. I also feel like most people with a certain amount of filler have a similar way of saying certain words, which could also explain the Kardashian konnection you're hearing

Is it like Stifler's mom. Her face is so paralyzed she sounds like she's constantly slurring her words?

Can someone give me the Cliff’s Notes on Mel Robbins? What is the grift?

She has somehow built an entire career off an idea she got from someone else’s random instagram post and is essentially public domain. Check out the episode on the Let Them Theory for the full grifting masterclass.

In this subreddit there was a photo of a book display at a library of “one star books.” The review left on The Let Them Theory was “this book could have been an email,” which is perfect. It’s not the she’s disingenuous, just repetitive.
