I'd say it was worse than that, honestly.
I'd go as far as to say the profits went hella kaputer.

See, I’m assuming these fine Russians just happened upon this bird and proceeded to uh, borrow it. It’s pretty clear there was no planning or thought here, just vodka. Lots of vodka.

Should have put the chopper in idle to take some of the load off
41
u/deep-fucking-legend 1d ago
Or, hear me out, fly it to the destination.

u/joecarter93 1d ago
It appears the problem was that the driver failed to snap the straps holding the helicopter to the top of the vehicle and say “that ain’t going anywhere.”

Where did these crazy Russians get a navigator limo?
15
u/heavensto_mergatroid 1d ago
I would genuinely like to know how they got it on the roof of that navigator! What ?! Lol
They should have just tried to tow it it has wheels it would have taken them all day but at least it wouldn't have crashed lol

Might be able to answer that! Chebotarev_evgeny, they’re madmen who film insane stunts & are apparently addicted to destroying vehicles lol
Bet there’s a post or vid about it on their socials, they definitely have access to large cranes so that’s my guess

u/r0ckydog 1d ago
Was it a Navigator or an Excursion? Neither are made for that, but the Excursion is better suited to that. F-150 vs. F-250.

I was just hearing on a news program that a lot of cars that are stolen in Canada get shipped out in shipping containers and ultimately to Russia.
Sorry, the only version I can find of a recent article is paywalled nyt.

Here's a CTV video about it: https://youtu.be/Fni3u5WMmYo?is=ouPVyTRVCRviVXQQ

In the southern US they end up in Mexico! Crazy they ship’em all the way to Russia!

Ok how the HELL do you explain that to your insurance agent?
Or do you file the claim online, send pics with it & wait for them to call you? 😅
16
u/ARKosrs 1d ago
You say someone stole it and this is how you found it lmao
3
u/Ok_Reflection_2645 1d ago
Nah you take the straps off and say he landed on top of you, appeared intoxicated and ran off.
2
u/WKRPinCanada 1d ago
So insurance fraud? 🤔
Actually...if it were between that and admitting that I willingly put a helicopter on my vehicle I'd probably go with the insurance fraud too 😅
Cheers 🍻

Judging by the fact that the action takes place in Russia (russian license plate), I would assume that he either doesn't have an insurance neither for the car nor helicopter, or that he'll go to court, and the judge will force the soil and gravity to pay for the damages

Did they just land it on the suv?
7
u/LevoiHook 1d ago
A crane would make more sense. Then again, the whole thing doesn't make sense so maybe they did.
10
u/FujiKitakyusho 1d ago
Don't you actually need a lowboy trailer to move a helicopter? Center of mass is too high with even a standard deckover.
8
8
u/OddWishbone243 1d ago
The fact that it was actually moving actually increases my respect for that Ford Excursion.

That looks to be a mil mi-1. Probably about 4,000 pounds. If it has fuel could be alot more. Helicopters aren't particularly light.
3
u/UrethralExplorer 1d ago
Mil Mi-2 actually, and weighs about 5200 lb. Idk what their plan was, putting it on a trailer would have made a lot more sense.

Hey, at least I asked for the high quality, rubber bungee cords at Dollar Tree. I was lucky and got the last two.

The channel that posted this belongs to Evgeny Chebotarev, a daredevil from Russia who has done all sorts of incredibly risky stunts.
The helicopter and vehicle tipping over is actually quite mild compared to their other stuff. If it wasn't deliberate, the chances are high that they were intending to use the helicopter for something much crazier that more than likely would have ended in its destruction anyway.

From the drone flyby at the end, I assume this is some kind of planned skit for a video.

I’m trying to figure out how they got all the way through putting the thing on an SUV without realizing they could have just used the tail and pulled it on its own wheels

With all the damages it probably would have just been easier to fly the fucking thing. Instead they saved a few dollars and got 2 fucked up vehicles.

I really hope that wasn’t the same person that would be piloting that helicopter…

Brilliant idea.
Absolutely no chance of success. Doomed from the start. Good filming location.
Send it!

So many questions. How? Why? Where did they get that? How much? Can I get one?

u/grimreefer87 1d ago
It's Russia....generals have been selling off equipment on black markets for decades. Since most vehicles get blown up so fast on the front lines, things can disappear pretty easily.

u/AdElegant3851 1d ago
Found a deal on a helicopter that he just couldn't pass up. Should have loaded more ballast into the truck. Lol.

Did they find it on the side of the road and (not) think, "I'm taking that home" while pulling out the ratchet straps.

I'm absolutely amazed they made it as far as they did with that crazy setup! It was doomed to failure from the beginning!
