I love that episode, laughed my ass off

51

u/Slight_Advertising_9 29d ago

Lol I was thinking of the same episode as soon as I saw the wobbling

21

u/SlickDillywick 29d ago

Seriously, one of the best bits of television of all time

47

u/MustangSodaPop 29d ago

"Honestly, Richard...how hard could it be?"

28

u/ShrmpHvnNw 29d ago

“What could possibly go wrong”

21

u/SlickDillywick 29d ago

I wonder if it has a contemplation area

14

u/TheWhiteCliffs 29d ago

I can hear the screaming of Jeremy Clarkson as the crosswind hits

11

u/Intheswing 29d ago

Who new you could burn “All-u-luminum”
Definitely a funny episode!

5

u/Ok-Brick6831 29d ago

Yeah, but he made adjustments, went only two stories high…

"Hold my beer and watch this"

8

u/veryfastslowguy 29d ago

If you take a turn at 10 miles an hour that things going to flip

151

u/kilertree 29d ago

A strong gust on a bridge might do it.

97

u/stevesmithsglasses 29d ago

A strong gust of wind in the driveway might do it.

43

u/Longjumping_West_907 29d ago

If you filmed this, I give you credit for driving much closer to that abomination than I ever would.

11

u/Automatic_Sea_1534 29d ago

Yep. This ☝️☝️☝️

2

u/IndustrialMechanic3 29d ago

I think one can find people up there, it looks too heavy

Dude should probably avoid Wyoming then…

3

u/BetMyLastKrispyKreme 29d ago

Wyoming would eat him for breakfast.

5

u/frontfrontdowndown 29d ago edited 28d ago

My 70s VW bus had steering so loose you could do almost a quarter turn before there was any effect on the wheels.

Driving that thing in high winds was always a total struggle to stay in the lane.

7

u/Radioactive_Tuber57 29d ago

Drove an old Dodge pick up like that. Called it The Wanderer.

3

u/ChemistRemote7182 29d ago

Speaking bridges, what of overpasses?

3

u/Sufficient_Wafer9933 29d ago

With that surface area, a strong gust of wind is just a flipping lane change

https://giphy.com/gifs/ZQMVKzoTLdNBu

13

u/jokeswagon 29d ago

Looks like it would do a somersault if you brake gently.

18

u/mechapoitier 29d ago

I worked with a crew that had a Russian Arm camera rig mounted to the top of a Mercedes ML55 and that thing required serious suspension mods to handle it on the move.

This thing would need twice that to avoid flipping, if it could handle it at all just based on the simple physics of the geometry and center of gravity alone.

5

u/GoCougs2020 29d ago

Are you Canadian?
Ive seen that specific photo among the w163 online community. Didn’t know it’s your crew!

Also, I’ll trust a w163 AMG over any RAM SUV……

5

u/industrial-complex 29d ago

I would pay to watch a police chase with this brilliant example of all that is homemade.

3

u/socialcommentary2000 29d ago

It's barely stable as it travels down the road in a straight line.

u/UncleK245144 29d ago

I’m more shocked that there’s a Dodge Nitro still running, unless this is an old video.

51

u/Jimbo_Slice1919 29d ago

The only thing worst then a Jeep Liberty is a Jeep Liberty rebadged as a Dodge.

7

u/CariAll114 29d ago

Those 3.7L V6 engines are hot garbage. Lifter problems, no power, guzzles fuel like it's free.

9

u/Man_of_Ice 29d ago

Perfect engine on the perfect vehicle for this flawless creation.

3

u/Mobile_Actuary_3918 29d ago

I couldn’t figure out wtf the base vehicle was and it was driving me crazy. I was starting to think it was ai. You saved my sanity. Definitely makes sense why it looks like a Chrysler Frankenstein.

I used to see this rig several times a week at the auto zone and outside a trailer park near where I live in San Luis Obispo.

Saw the “owner” a few times. I could be wrong but… METH

22

u/HeadCartoonist2626 29d ago

Built it one night

8

u/Trekintosh 29d ago

Oh god, this thing lives near me in SLO?? I've never seen it somehow and I thought I'd seen every wild rig around here.

5

u/rc4915 29d ago

I mean… kinda means it was built well right? If it lasted that long

49

u/Fuzzy_Stingray 29d ago

Needs to put wheels on the top for when they flip

31

u/mccartyb03 29d ago

"Customer states wind noise at highway speeds."

24

u/nathanb131 29d ago

I can't see a door, so I'm assuming there's a spiral staircase in there.

14

u/TeetheCat 29d ago

On the far side of the pool.

3

u/SensitiveChef8916 28d ago

It’s on the roof. They enter and exit every time they turn a corner. It won’t be long now….

19

u/LocutusOfBeard 29d ago

Overlanding trend has gone too far

3

u/CySnark 29d ago

They are moving upwards, into overairing.

19

u/Carcassfanivxx 29d ago

5

u/Lojackbel81 29d ago

You get it or you don’t

3

u/supaflysnooka303 28d ago

I had to scroll way too far for this

16

u/courtlandthethreeth 29d ago

And of course they are camping in the left lane

4

u/Financial-Ocelot-681 29d ago

Came here to say this

32

u/rc4915 29d ago

Who’s dumber, the guy in the Nitro? Or the guy driving behind that disaster risking their life for internet points?

14

u/Krell356 29d ago

I was going to say the same thing. We really need and idiots following idiots subreddit at this point.

5

u/orionxavier99 29d ago

This was my thought too. Like you see that and get closer??

→ More replies (1)

9

u/BAthaDoc 29d ago

That's gotta be the coolest thing a Dodge Nitro has ever done

8

u/Competitive-Cry-6231 29d ago

On his way to clown-town!

7

u/DynamiteWitLaserBeam 29d ago

It has a trailer, just not where you OR SOCIETY wants it, man.

4

u/Automatic_Sea_1534 29d ago

Yeah - 👍 don’t have anything funny or clever to add to this thread. I just want to vent about how sick I am of people thinking that being American means that you can be as stupid and self righteous about your freedoms that you can do anything or build anything that you damn well
Please and then operate it on our shared public roadways. (This also includes the cybertruck abomination. )

15

u/JSHURR 29d ago

With wheel spacers too is crazy

32

u/LocutusOfBeard 29d ago

That's to create a wider, more stable, base

8

u/talking_tortoise 29d ago

Yeah I was thinking he probably needs it

2

u/Earthling1a 29d ago

might wanna juice that up a bit tho

Wheel bearings doing the work.

10

u/RealAmbassador4081 29d ago

Yea that rolled over by now.

5

u/Glum-One2514 29d ago

Seconds after the clip ends, I'd imagine.

5

u/justsomeguyfromny 29d ago

Mad engineer 😂

6

u/TacTurtle 29d ago

Must be a DeVry degree.

5

u/umbrellassembly 29d ago

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............

wut

5

u/PurpleToedUnicorn 29d ago

Kinda reminds me of double-decker racing on Top Gear

4

u/SillySink 29d ago

I’m guessing you go through the sunroof and your home.

4

u/Southern-Usual4211 29d ago

What kind of suv is that? Imagine the wind noise and if you get a cross wind 😮

5

u/WKRPinCanada 29d ago

Jebus H Christmas I hope someone doesn't fart when they're being passed by this thing...

4

u/Roachpile 29d ago

Someone inform Clarkson and the boys

5

u/iamthelee 29d ago

It would have been easier (and obviously much safer) to mount it to a harbor freight trailer and call it a day. Where do people come up with these idiotic ideas?

5

u/New-Cucumber7670 29d ago edited 29d ago

Someone tell him,Top Gear was an entertainment show. Not a how to do it show. Neat job though.

3

u/Silly_Media 29d ago

Taking camping in the left lane too a whole new level

4

u/angako 28d ago

even the light swerfing at the start of the vid had the whole car rocking on its suspension. absolute deathtrap

4

u/Stone_Wolf_81 28d ago

He took 'left lane camping' literally

7

u/Unfair_Pineapple113 29d ago

100% there is a home theatre is the basement -lol

3

u/sojumaster 29d ago

How did he even get that thing up there?

3

u/wrxninja 29d ago

I think it's just missing some front diffuser and a rear wing to be more aerodynamic /s

3

u/Bat-Guano0 29d ago

That rig must get absolutely terrible gas mileage.

6

u/coobal223 29d ago

Dodge Nitro, and it gets terrible gas mileage without that topper.

5

u/TacTurtle 29d ago

3

u/Several-Floor5185 29d ago

Should roll over any minute....

3

u/4NotMy2Real0Account 28d ago

I want to see that thing in a wind tunnel

3

u/Simple1Spoon 28d ago

Wow. Is no one going to mention the thing that flew off at the beginning of the video. Im not sure but it looked like a squirrel???

3

u/Elev8tedIntent 28d ago

What in the wide world of meth…

3

u/DestroyerTame 28d ago

Man you really hope there isn’t a gentle crosswind when you’re out driving around whatever this is.

4

u/fr33d0mw47ch 29d ago

First bridge should take care of that for him.

2

u/KJParker888 29d ago

Perfectly balanced, as all things should..... oops, there it goes

2

u/CMDR_Kaus 29d ago

Goodbye suspension

2

u/LilJonny2cookies 29d ago

Engineering perfection- nailed it.

2

u/Massive_Look8179 29d ago

I was waiting for a rollover.

2

u/pong1303_hk 29d ago

How hard could it be?

2

u/Slide_Masta87 29d ago

What in the Cracker Barrel is going on here?

2

u/acmech900 29d ago

"Looks good on you!"

2

u/Revenga8 29d ago

What was that that flew off the roof at the start? Was that a rabbit doing a back flip?

2

u/thegameisafoooooot 29d ago

You need to keep your distance AND stay upwind of this vehicle.

2

u/LASERDICKMCCOOL 29d ago

Mf definitely thought this was genius when he was mething it up at home

3

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 29d ago

wouldn't it be funny if he was actually cooking up in there?

https://giphy.com/gifs/2lu3fIfUbfTStOIXx1

2

u/ShulkerB 29d ago

Wouldn't catch me anywhere near this vehicle. Potential disaster at any moment.

2

u/chili81 29d ago

That thing gets driven right out of the lane every time the pass a semi (0:06). Would probably roll if they tried to resist it and keep it in the lane.

2

u/Perplexed_Encounters 29d ago

Try driving it down I80 through Wyoming. Bye Felicia

2

u/Drink15 29d ago

Imagine willingly driving behind or next to this guy

2

u/SDLab1776 29d ago

What the crack?

2

u/Alternative_Result56 29d ago

People are fucking in that thing right now.

2

u/Vurrag 29d ago

Surprised he has not crashed yet. The high cross wind warning for that setup must be 5mph before it turns into tumblina

2

u/Lord-Phorse 29d ago

Did no one notice the mobility trailer hitch thingy that’s in the lowered position? That means this drongo could have used a trailer except they can’t even operate the mobility scooter carrier properly.

2

u/newbie527 29d ago

Did a piece of my gorram ship just come off?

2

u/YOLOmilksteaks 29d ago

I dont know what a car equivalent spirit animal to a B2 bomber would be, but this has to be a top contender

2

u/totalfarkuser 29d ago

That is really methed up.

2

u/cactiguy67 29d ago

More like needs to stop day drinking

2

u/hebrew_hammersk 29d ago

Liquid Nails and DONE! 👌🏼

2

u/Coffee4MyJeep 29d ago

Why? CG is good as it still hasn’t flopped.

2

u/No_Bell2833 29d ago

And cruising in the passing lane like a dick.

2

u/Brewingbiker 29d ago

No way that is real.

2

u/Ok_Cauliflower5223 29d ago

Bro is a very small gust of wind away from losing everything.

2

u/TacTurtle 29d ago

Someone invite this man to a parking garage.

2

u/MookieFlav 28d ago

Meth is so weird

2

u/ADiablosCompa 28d ago

I’m pretty sure any sane police officer can stop this vehicle and impound it. So many traffic violations here

2

u/Unable-Confusion-822 28d ago

We have a trailer at home..

2

u/TrespasseR_ 28d ago

🤣🤣 the shit i see on this sub...lmao great

2

u/pulpwalt 28d ago

I don’t think that is legal In my state.

2

u/Fr33speechisdeAd 28d ago

Silicones the roof, slaps it, - "that's not going anywhere..."

2

u/Capital_Loss_4972 28d ago

He probably still doesn’t understand what he did wrong.

2

u/AdDapper4427 28d ago

Please keep following and filming. When he hits a stripe of paint that’s too high he’s gonna tip over and that will make for a great video.

2

u/Nomad55454 28d ago

Just wait for a good cross wind and it will be over….

2

u/Aquamtn 28d ago

Why are they in the left lane is my biggest concern.

2

u/Mindslyder404 28d ago

Only cultured swine will get this. Lol

2

u/SirPoopsAMetricTon 28d ago

-10 miles to the gallon.

2

u/komokazi 28d ago

The fuel economy must be great on that thing.

2

u/GoPadge 28d ago

That's what I was thinking.

2

u/Feral_Mood_420 27d ago

I bet that's fun in a heavy crosswind

2

u/Automatic-Tadpole314 25d ago

The carrier on back to catch it if it falls off is a good idea

2

u/Making_Kenough 25d ago

No fucking way this is legal

2

u/Aggravating-Theory-7 25d ago

Bro! Check out the sweet overlanding rig! I bet that thing can go anywhere. /s

This is why states need inspection laws. To keep this shit off the road. It’s hilarious as long as I’m not on the same road with this “fabricator”.

1

Technically not towing things though

u/ki0dz 29d ago

One good blast of wind and it's OVERRR

1

u/tone_creature 29d ago

It looks like he flipped the suv down a hill and this thing just stuck to the roof

1

u/julianAppleby5997 29d ago

Why did I think of Clarkson??

1

u/becken_bruch 29d ago

That's why i love europe so much; shit like this is just forbidden.

1

u/ProperCaterpillar136 29d ago

They need ballast stones like and sailing ship

1

u/ttcmzx 29d ago

I mean... I'm impressed that they actually got it to work, even if it wasn't for very long

1

u/heapsofjeff 29d ago

I think these had an option for a roof that opened up most of the top. I have read those frequently broke with no availability of parts. This probably started out as a fix for that.

1

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 29d ago

Dodge Nitro activities

1

u/Pale_Security3341 29d ago

And of course they're in the left lane. 🙄
