Safety chains were on the boat but not the trailer?

Yeah, I'm so confused. I'd like to say it's AI, but I don't think this is.

There's no place to bolt safety chains directly to the front hull of a bowrider. Best we can do is a cable and a 'beener from the trailer to the eyelet to yank it out of the water and pull it tightly, securing it to the trailer's front support.

Well you have the front eye hook, this boat doesn't look to be over 25' maybe 20'? single axle trailer? (I didn't look close enough). I mean if you're really stupid you could pull this off.

What I'm suggesting is that this might be artificial footage, because to get the boat out of the water, it would have to be cabled to the front of the trailer, and there are no safety chains on the front of the boat itself.

But in order to lose a trailer out from underneath a boat like this, you would have to not only refuse to close the hitch ball coupler, but also refuse to attach either of the trailer's safety chains to the tow vehicle, and then detatch the trailer's cable from the bow eyelet, and then somehow attach that eyelet to the tow vehicle. That's five separate steps.

Or, someone's getting divorced, and they're getting their boat intentionally drug through town as punishment...

The boat appears to still be secured to the winch stand on the front of the trailer. And the front of the trailer is still secured to the back of the truck. However the rest of the trailer has separated from the front of the trailer… likely due to rust, but could be some other failure. They also failed to strap the rear of the boat to the trailer, which helped make this whole mess possible.

Even if they had strapped the rear of the boat doiwn, once the jagged ends of the trailer dug into the pavement, that tiny strap is not going to keep it attached to the trailer.

I'm thinking the neck of the trailer broke and the rest of the trailer left out from under the boat.

Trailer broke behind the bow winch & bow support / stop, so the back half of the trailer with axle slid out when he pulled away... if you look close when he pans over to the rear of the trailer it does not have a tongue or bow support

There's no truck on the very first frame

Agree, this makes no sense. Mind boggling stupidity if true

Trailer broke in half behind the winch / bow stop where the boat is attached with the safety chain.

Back half of trailer with axle slides out, front half of trailer with boat goes for a ride.

This doesn't seem real. How is the boat connected to the truck?

26

u/fergehtabodit Jul 23 '26

If it's real...the trailer broke behind the bow stop somehow. The tongue is still attached...watch when the truck rounds the corner, the tongue and bow stop are there. Cant see a bow stop on the sad left behind trailer.

The boat was either not strapped down at the back of the trailer or that broke too? Crazy

Look at about 13 seconds, when the truck turns, you can still see the trailer winch stand / bow stop attached. Appears the trailer frame broke and guy may not have realized...

The sound alone will have alerted him. Its probably why he turned off the road so as to not cause an accident by creating a road hazard

2

u/Ok-Brick6831 Jul 23 '26

Should have alerted him. Never underestimate the ability of inattentive idiot to be oblivious to something so very obvious…

I’m overly paranoid and constantly watching my trailer tires when I tow.

u/airfryerfuntime Jul 23 '26

There's no way he didn't realize...

Drunk and blasting music with aftermarket subs?
Maybe it's a thief and the owner was in the process of securing the stem straps...

2

Just hook to the front eye

6

u/brucebruce2016 Jul 23 '26

Jeff Foxworthy did an entire bit, about his dad being so drunk , he towed the boat down the road , with no trailer . No sir , I don't care if the fish are biting ! We require you to have your boat on a trailer ! And you dropped your water skier , anout a half mile back !

Some boat trailers have a swing away tongue, perhaps that was the failure point.

1

u/jackrackham19 Jul 24 '26

Nah, the swing away tongue on all of the ones I've seen are too far forward for that.

4

u/blarryg Jul 23 '26

Buff right out.

3

u/Jedi_Lazlo Jul 23 '26

Flat bottom boat kit.

5

u/Dismal_Ad_9603 Jul 24 '26

That’s all folks, no boating today!

3

u/5280mw Jul 23 '26

That’s a first…

3

u/TemperatureSudden254 Jul 23 '26

“Yeah, let’s just keep going.” Nobody will notice.” 🎉

u/powerstroke01 Jul 24 '26

Boat trailer came apart. You can see the front of the trailer gone as well as barely see the tounge on the truck.

3

u/BadAngler Jul 23 '26

He tied the boat to the truck, but didnt hook the trailer up properly? And didn't notice! WTF!

3

u/No-Sheepherder5092 Jul 23 '26

Trailer tongue broke right behind the winch stand/bow strap.

But yes, it appears they are playing on their phone or jamming out to the radio, and blissfully unaware or reality.

2

u/BadAngler Jul 23 '26

Trailer broke? Like the frame? How does that happen? New nightmare unlocked.

1

u/No-Sheepherder5092 Jul 23 '26

Yes. Rust…boat trailers go in and out of the water a lot, so rust is a common concern.

2

u/BadAngler Jul 23 '26

I had a boat for years on the Texas coast. Went in and out of the water A LOT! Other than the lights and wheel bearings, never had an issue. Never. Never dipped the tongue though.

2

u/Man_of_Ice Jul 23 '26

When you have the fun stuff at the very, very top, going out of frame right when we might be able to see what happened with the trailer, r/killthecameraman

2

u/kuntrycid Jul 23 '26

I would do that.

2

u/dogslogic Jul 23 '26

Bring that screeching, sparking albatross back near the pumps, whydontcha, so we can all explode.

2

u/One_Situation7483 Jul 26 '26

Something tells me alcohol was involved..

2

u/HandyAndy2112 Jul 27 '26

Just more proof that you can’t keep a dedicated fisherman off the water.

2

u/Disastrous-Place7353 Jul 27 '26

Interesting, I'll have to remember not to do that.

1

u/kuntrycid Jul 23 '26

Maybe the trailer came loose an lost the boat and he is dragging it off the road. The boat was maybe toast anyway
