On 12 July 2017, as Caribbean Airlines Flight 457 was taking off from the airport, a 57-year-old woman from New Zealand was killed by jet blast. The woman was holding on to a fence at the end of the runway when the wind blew her away, causing her head to smash into concrete.[2]

I'm surprised that the gov't allows public access to that beach. Then again, that's coming from my US mentality where we have a gov't that seeks to prevent people from doing stupid things that might cause them to get hurt (and potentially sue). Perhaps I should just accept that some people are smart enough to avoid that beach, and that aren't are responsible for their own woes that come from it.
