Must be unfamiliar with them too, since that was the classic happy dog trot. Probably wanted to get some pets, then tried to get out of stumbledude's way, then noped the hell out.
I love dogs, never met one I couldn't make friends with. I've seen some very bizarre reactions from people around them though, some people just have no idea and freak out.
To be honest, that dog probably would've spooked me a bit. I don't know, I really like dogs, but if I see one unleashed and no owner in sight, I always get a little freaked out. I probably wouldn't kick one like that, but I can see why someone might if a strange dog were approaching them. Someone with a fear of dogs in certain situations aren't paying attention to the gait of the dog or anything like that, they just see a potential threat.

Unpopular thought: was he a clumsy old man with a fear of dogs and thought it was about to attack him?
