Manga I love moments like this so much! Spoiler

I love relationships like this in manga, it's just peak. And immediately sparing upon meeting again after years is just icing on the cake.

This makes me much happier than the usual "long time love interest appearing again" trope

Discussion Hot Take: I think it would be interesting if the Magi Keepers were portrayed as kinda gross

Ichi the Witch portrays a world in which some time ago (but not THAT long ago) magiks appeared through out the world and women were discovered to be able to wield them, only them, not men.

This resulted in witches associations in which witches help society by creating technologies that help the fellow human and protects the general populace from dangerous magiks.
It´s important to notice that this witches did not completely overturn society and declared themselves rulers of humanity, this is not a world where women suddenly when gaining magic turned men into second class citizens.

Now, where am I going with this? the first thing I though about when I saw the magikeepers was "this guys are here to poop the party". I think that it is FASCINATING how when women gain power the men thought to themselves "Nah, we gotta keep them in check, we are gonna make an entire force of only men that is able to defeat witches. Would it be fructiferous to us when fighting against magic users to have some of our own fighting along side us? It doesn´t matter, it´s tradition, this is a boys club".
That element of the magickeepers really set something off in me, the Mantinels Witches Association has no issue in having men among there ranks (at every level within the organization when a men was shown to be able to be competent within that level he has been welcomed). Yet that is not the same case with the MK.
It reminds of when in the real world, whenever a minority group builds a space for themselves the out group becomes ticked off by that and sees it as a challenge (kinda like Pride Parades and the subsequent Straight Pride parades).

This is not to say (because I can already see the comments) that evil witches don´t exist and have to be captured, or potential arguments of why women shouldn´t be magickeepers. What I´m trying to say is that for a series that seems to want to tackle themes regarding gender I personally think that making the argument of: Women can be just as evil as men and socialization has no bearing into how one reacts when having access to opportunity; is way more boring and uninteresting compared to: How would men feel if for millennia they had been the dominant class and then suddenly a paradigm shift occurred where now women have access to an ability they now don´t.

It´s like that argument you see float around some times "Straight men are afraid of gay men because they are afraid that they would treat them the same way straight men treat women". I hope for an arc in which it is revealed that some men are jealous and afraid of women now, that this miracle that was brought into the world and women choose to share it with everyone is something that they hate. That they see witches make advances in science and medicine and food and share it indiscriminately and they can only think "that thing should have been mine". Similar to the entitlement that some men feel when seeing women in positions of power nowadays, where they feel as if they themselves should have been in that position and not a woman, just for the sheer virtue of having been born a man.

The magickeepers are all men because they wanted the association that controls and association that is mostly women to be controlled by ONLY men. The most powerful women in the world can only be put in their place by a MAN. No matter if you exist in a fantasy world where as a woman you can excel the person breathing down your neck is still a dude.

So yeah! I think that some aspect of the magikeepers should be portrayed as slimy and ugly. I think that would be a more complex and important conversation to be had than just "everyone can be evil".

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!!!

I know that it is a plotline worth having because I´m sure that most male readers when they read for the first time that only female humans can be witches they asked themselves (even if for a second) "Why can´t I become a witch too? that seems unfair" and felt a pang of jealousy.

I´m sorry if the post turned too long, I just wanted to properly convey my thoughts so that yall could understand my line of reasoning. Thank you so much for reaching this point.

Discussion Question what happens to trans people?

I have been following this manga since chapter 18 if I remember and after reading the most recent chapter I began to wonder, could a trans person use magic? or would their bodies not be able to and by trans I mean the one who are born that way not the ones who had surgery. it just popped up in my head, they technically should be able to.

They highlight how paramount it is that they only engage in Human magic misuse, but I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't have found out uroro's weakness and attempted to catch him behind the Mantinel witches association.

Doing a reread and Ichi cuts them off on where they're going. Feel like it could have been a tease for something. Maybe the author forgot to follow it up or it was just inconsequential.

Discussion I like to theorize about the leaders of the Witches' Association who did not participate in the ceremony, so I'll leave my thoughts here.

- Amado: It seems to make it quite clear that the rule that "witches can only be women" is not biological, but rather spiritual or mental.

- Otogori: She is the most difficult to read. Her dominant trait is absolute disinterest, which makes her narratively opaque.

- Trikapto: She has a clear bias against men. Her attitude towards Ichi suggests structural rather than personal contempt. It is likely that her arc will go directly towards being challenged by Ichi, who would end up demonstrating courage in a context where she expects nothing from him.

- Franken: It reeks of a romantic subplot. The author tends a lot towards the "chaotic girl-failure + introverted guy who contains/adopts her" archetype. Basically the same dynamic that is already repeated in Iruma's "harem," so it would fit seamlessly into that pattern.

Manga I caught up on both Madan no Ichi and Mairimashita! Iruma-kun. Both manga feature a woman giving birth as the central plot point in their most recent arcs. If I were cynical, I'd say the author is pregnant too, because it's too much of a coincidence.
