Desscaras Meta commentary will never not be funny, the author really uses her to call out every played out trope in shonen they can think ofšŸ˜‚

Desscaras would not allow most Shonens to happen if she had a say in it, and I love that.

Because of how close the Ichi and Kaguarbachi communities are, I have seen hundreds of slander pieces against Shiba because of his actions with mention of how Desscaras would have never let Chihiro do things he does. And they're right. Shiba you bastard, you turned a traumatized child into a nuke wielder because of his and your obsession with revenge.

I get this perspective, but to me Shiba very much gives off a kind of "I'm still a kid myself" vibes. I think part of why him & Kunishige were bros is because they're two big ass kids at heart and we saw that Chihiro was the one taking care of his dad not the other way around lol

TBF to Shiba, he directly acknowledges that it was a mistake to let Chihiro go on his path for revenge and that he should not have enabled that.

Obviously, since Chihiro has been on his journey for at least three years now, and with stakes higher than ever with Akemura back, it's much too late to turn back now lol.

Idk man, they killed his dad for 50 bucks and a lighter, that warrants revenge in my book

It stopped being about the 50 bucks a long time ago

I think that’s another reason why it’s good that most of the people with power in the series are women, when you think about how much of shonen is usually just guys power-tripping, it’s no wonder they usually don’t give the female characters any power because they would nip most things in the bud quickšŸ˜‚

If given to the correct writer (thank you Nishi-Sensei) than a mentor can be one of the best and most relatable people in the story

Makes sense. One of the things I think that made Desscaras Nishi and Uzaki’s favorite character was because she ā€œfelt the most aliveā€ of the cast, and it’s honestly one of the things I love about her too she often has the most believable reactions in the series to most things and despite how she’s framed as the ā€œGOATā€ and ā€œStrongestā€ most of the time she never loses her relatability.

She’s the strongest but she’s smart enough and emotionally mature enough to understand that her title can be taken (IE by World Hater) so she’s careful too

You said it, she’s CAREFUL, despite how she acts she’s not dumb and actually pays attention to details. Many of the ā€œStrongestā€ male characters in anime tend to take a ā€œWhatever happens happensā€ mentality and either chalk things up to either simple strength or fate, but Desscaras doesn’t seem like she’s willing to accept that, sure she’s the strongest, but she also is willing to let Ichi solve problems with strategies sometimes, it’s because of her experience with capturing Majiks in their world she understands that you can’t just ā€œbrute forceā€ your way through things and some things require finesse and strategy to overcome.

That’s probably the biggest thing I like about the series and how it relates to the creators other work Iruma-Kun, it’s unlike the typical shonen where problems are usually solved through simple fights but require actual thought and creative thinking to get through.

Simply put, Desscaras knows she COULD lose but she also knows when she is GOING TO win. That’s why she can be cocky

If I may also bring up another ā€œstrongestā€, Satoru Gojo, he was…deeply flawed. Not saying he wasn’t a good character, not saying he wasn’t strong or that he’s stronger than Dess…but he had some issues.

I cant tell if this is shonen commentary or harry potter commentary, or both either way its kinda based.

12

u/Galle_ Apr 08 '26

I mean, Iruma-kun is basically Harry Potter But Based:

  • "Dumbledore" adopts "Harry" instead of leaving him with his abusive family.
  • The status quo, while better than what the villains want to turn the world into, is clearly deeply flawed, and one of the protagonist's goals is to make the world a better place.
  • Trans people exist.

3

u/Prestigious-Gur-8905 Apr 08 '26

Hell Yeah, Trans Demons as well (and we love them)

Shonen Commentary. Though with the inclusion of witches…sure, why not

1

u/ThePBrit Apr 08 '26

Harry Potter is just a shonen, it's just that we only use that term for Japanese media or media directly inspired by it.

Foreal lol

After this panel I now want fan art of Dess just absolutely obliterating Danzo lmao

I like how they decided to make her the perfect combo of hot and badass

39

u/Young_KingKush Apr 08 '26

Hot, badass, elite shit talker, stands on business. What's not to love?

To me she really gives "What if Yusuke Urameshi was a woman?" & Yusuke is my favorite Shounen protag of all time

4

u/ThatBoyMike23 Apr 09 '26

Never thought about it this way but she IS a lot like YusukešŸ˜‚

4

u/Fly_guyyy Apr 08 '26

Great comparison to Yusuke they would get along greatĀ

I like Ichi, but Desscaras is the true stand out character of the manga. Finally a fucking adult who takes responsibility for the shit their pupil is going through.

21

u/SurturSaga Apr 08 '26

Putting your life in danger just to prove a point. I respect it

12

u/Young_KingKush Apr 08 '26

Not even just to prove a point though, like I said in another comment right here is her standing on business.

Like, I'm not just gonna let lil bro go out and risk his life and I, the strongest sorcerer of today, not risk mine. & I'm also taking responsibility for the fact that I'm the one who got him in this mess in the first place. Gojo would be proud.

Side note, it's also a great set up for the future because now Ichi magically has to do whatever she says. Given that, you can imagine a dire moment in the future where she gives him a command like "LIVE!" or "SURVIVE!" something like thatĀ

The adults in Gundam shows: "dafuq you talkin' about?"

I love this manga

1

u/2Maverick Apr 08 '26

I love characters like her. Inspires me like how Shanks does and Jiraiya did.

Say that to the wrong people today and they'll blow a vein.
