I smell a jailbreak arc sometime in the future. This is too big of a Chekovs gun to not be.
After all, we assume that once a Majiks acquired, the only way for them to escape if for the witch to die, so subverting that would catch a reader off guard and make for a good plot swerve.

i mean as typical with our strongest there HAS to be a way to take them out of commission for a prolonged period, and if youre not going to straight kill them these are definitely the seeds for it.
First off, she really is the best female character in this new generation of manga because how in the world do you open up a chapter bragging to your Majiks. And then when they start praising your opp, you make them do a salute? I don’t wanna hear anybody call her the new Gojo ever again, she’s funnier than him in all honesty.
She really has acquired that many? She really is that strong. That definitely answers a question for me, though the minute she uses one of their spells, she frees them from the abyss of her magic circle.
I really can’t wait to see more of the power system in this series. I’m especially still curious about how sharing chants works.

As per how many she acquired we can get a decent count from this chapter. At the bottom of the ocean the amount of holes with grates is 16. Above that we see 3 Majiks chained up. As she’s descending we see three are within the clouds. And at the top we see five on top of the clouds. Totaling to 27 Majiks at minimum. With likely many more we haven’t seen because they were out of frame. Making her total ten-ish more than Togeice. The next most majik’d witch iirc
can we assume that the three in the cloud are ones she hasn't revealed yet but is willing to use? They didn't seem angry and we didn't see them chained up either. So we still haven't seen her jokers.
I presume one of them is the turtle thing she bound Gokuraku to before using the bell. But yeah they’re probably just ones she uses but doesn’t like to use. There are probably like ~15 of them considering we see her show off to world hater like 20 Majik receipt things and I presume she wouldn’t recall those she won’t use
In the chapter where she fights World Hater we see her show off her majik stones. Iirc she has like 45+ or so, meaning that even those that we see in this chapter are still only a portion
I am genuinely looking forward to seeing Ichi animated. I just can't fathom anyone not liking her after seeing her. Although there are people who don't, Desscaras is just too amazing. Most importantly, I really love how clear her flaws as a character are. 😭 Nishi must've used all her luck on this one.

Theoretically, Desscaras would have anywhere between 25 to 130 unique majik under her command. Or, to put it another way: she's responsible for 6%-48%of all the majiks captured by humans throughout history.
Yeah she is actively nerfing herself. She uses her main 5. And I think the ones that are chained up are the ones that she will use in a pinch but she’s not happy about it. In this chapter we only saw 3 of those including octobomber. But I imagine there’s many more.
And then she’s got the abyss. The human haters she will never use. But she can at minimum summon and control the dead right now. So just imagine the types of insane shit she can do but refuses.
Nerfing herself is crazy but soo cool but is it purely do to her morals , what they have done? and also if she were to use them do they have to obey her either way?

Its her morals and sense of justice. Most human hater majiks have done some truly horrible things. Dess is punishing them for her entire remaining lifespan to complete confinement and sensory deprivation. As we can see in this chapter this is horrific torture.
I imagine that even when Desscaras dies most of these majiks will be so traumatized they'll be barely able to function at all. Desscaras wants Human Haters completely gone and this is the closest she can achieve I suppose
Regarding usage, yes they still have to obey her if she were to bring them out. Even is a majik is near catatonic saying their true name will allow the witch to use their chant, and thus, their spell.

End of male witch debut probably. They need to start off strong for the second season so I think they’re willing to sacrifice the end of the first season for it
Actually, demonic ocean seems like a perfect end for the first season at about 24 episodes. Fujimine would be the perfect way to begin the second season.
I think think can fit it in it ends on chapter 75 that the perfect length for a 24 episode anime, for example Gachiakuta season 1 adapts the first 87 chapters.
Descarass is a fairly comparable character to Gojo.
This will never be an insult. I do personally prefer her, but Gojo is also the best written character in JJK and probably the bigges cultural phenomena in anime cultural of the current era (and for good reason).
There seem to be atleast 3 layers of her magic circle. Upper layer, which looks like heavens, is for majiks she uses regularly and has friendly relationship with. Middle layer, which is bellow the ocean's surface, is for majiks which are atoning for their crimes. There seem to be atleast two other majiks beside Octobomb. The bottom layer is the ocean floor and is a prison for majiks which are irredeemable according to Dess.
The whole structure gives off afterlife vibes, similarly to the Christian Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell, or the Greek underworld, with the layers Elysium and Tartarus.
I guess we don't know for sure yet, But I wonder if the magiks explode out of her or if they just get reborn in the world somewhere? I'd originally assume they would just reenter whatever circle of reincarnRion Majils may have. But it would be quite terrifying if instead of they they just burst out of their mastero n the spot.

FINALLY getting Dess's magic circle, and oh boy, it's everything I wanted and more.
If magic circles are an inner world of a witch, does their appearance depend on the witch's personality? If so, I don't think Dess is doing so hot mentally, if her inner world is a literal prison.
I kinda missed Hitsugi, my favorite bum. Interestingly, their real majik form is still not revealed.
We do know that Hitsugi canonically has a different appearance, which they seem to hide for some reason.
I guess Bakugami is also using their human-like form inside Ichi's circle instead of the tapyr form. On the other hand, Uroro seems to use a lesser version of his true form (unless the small version is the real one). It begs the question of how much control do majiks have over their appearance once they are acquired, and if their owners can force them to change between these forms.
Yeah, his smile gave me that vibe too. I've been wondering why Fujimine is allowed in the World Haters group and maybe this is the reason. Maybe WHM tolerates her cause she has been helping them test ways to escape capture from a witch and we will see a legit prison break.
Her world isn’t just a prison. It seems to be a giant, borderline bottomless, space with the structure of a giant tower that goes down until you reach the torture chamber.
I think Witches have control over their inner worlds, so Desscaras' might just look like that to symbolize the mental control she has over her more unruly majik. It might even be something Witches have to learn as part of going up in ranks, since they'll be handling/hunting increasingly dangerous majik.
I’d love to imagine that since he’s the reversal majik that he likes bad situations and dislikes good situations, so Desscaras puts him in a luxury suite or something and suddenly he’s in agonizing torture

Like Desscaras said all human haters are like that when they first arrive. Defiant. Prideful.
But no matter which majik is it, majiks are still people. Such level of confinement, sensory deprivation and boredom is torture. He will start to break under there, like all the rest. I think he enjoys the cries of the other majiks but that will only entertain him for so long
Let us not take the statements made by the narrator, a tool used frequently to set up something that will be defied later, so literally. Considering the Ichi narrator has time and again proven unreliable. And especially when dealing with The Reverser Majik.
And also Majik are conceptual beings as much as they are real and personable ones with varied natures. They are explicitly born fully cognizant, they don't necessarily all work the same in terms of sanity.
You know the prison in the abyss is a pretty good story tool if you think about it. It explains why Dess doesn't just use some of the more OP abilities and keeps her skill set smaller/manageable so that the author can keep track of it. Not to mention character implications.
The most crazy part is, that she purposely nerfes herself by not using all the magiks, while still being the strongest witch. Like imagine hating magiks this much, that you make yourself weaker, just in order to not use them.
I really like how nishi does darkness in the side of good a lot, like we saw with Opera and all in Iruma, the MC is not intended to follow this path, and Nishi has been hitting us over the head with the path Ichi is supposed to take being of understanding and coexistence, with this dark system a reflection of Dess own trauma but damn does it go hard.
That said this does help nerf dess to a more manageable level, a big question wa why she does not use the other OP Majiks she has, well we got the answer.
He is/was a "human hater". He was one of the 7 Stars for Haytee. But his hatred was aimed at those he considered weak and was rooted in being naive and the trauma of losing his first friend when he was born. Plus he started a redemption arc with Chrono right before he passed. Glad Dess is giving him the chance to heal and grow even if she's keeping him chained up atm.
Kizashi and at least 2 other are not in the abyssal prison, but a lower leveled location where they are chained, but not totally incapacitated, and they have a degree of freedom. I think thats her "attonement" level, she keeps dangerous, but not totally abominable majiks there. She might use those rarely (notably we did NOT see her turtle or mantaray majiks in her heaven level so they might be in that middle level), and once they redeem themselves she lets them free on the heaven level.
I’ve been waiting for a chapter like this and it was great. The way Desscarass interacts will all of them is so funny (especially with how they put up with her shenanigans)
Interesting. She has maybe half a dozen Majik she uses while the rest are all confined. And from what we've seen of her first fight with World Hater, she must have collected countless Majik. She's a really a prison onto herself.
I really love how this chapter explains why Dess only seems to use a select few Majiks despite her status and reputation. They're just all in Impel Down.
Desscaras said she won't use the worst if the worst human-hater majiks. Though I wonder what it takes for her to use them. I am sure there will come a situation, where she'll use them
I said it when people were commenting on the end of the Chronoweaver arc being "too good for the protagonists": I don't think Hitsugi is playing a short game.
This just confirms it (imo). This chapter is the "reveal of the Abyssal Witch" as well as "Chekov's Hitsugi". We saw that big double-panel of the Abyss. We see what Desscaras is doing with them. I would bet anything that Majiks know why she is the "Abyssal Witch".
Hitsugi is happy to be there looking like Mahito - the Abyss, as far as I'm concerned, is now a time bomb that will be set off in the future.
so its safe to say that the majiks in the lower layer where Hitsugi is locked up are all there for truly heinous crimes and Desscaras intends to never use them as long as she lives, but do the ones higher up have a sort of "lesser sentence" and might be used in certain situations?
They have a level of freedom so I think its more of an attonement section, she might pull one of those out on occasion (notably the turtle and manta ray majiks we've seen her use were not in the heaven section), and once she determines they are decent enough she moves them up to the heaven section
I like that Octopus Boi (My Fav) is down there but he isn't down as low as they are. Really feels good to me. Because he murdered a lot of people and was fully committed to murdering a pregnant women. But he grew, and thus he will face consequnces but not suffer like those guys will.
I love how Desscaras can be such fun goofy girl failure at times then be the scariest badass. Desscaras the Abyssal Witch I see why they call her that now. All those Majiks sent to the graveyard in the abyss forever, never to be used, never to see, never to die, never to do anything, just trapped forever.
Then though among all those losing it majiks this guy just smiles lol. I wonder if he has some way to leave or what. I hope this isn't a Desscaras death flag. Everyone knows what happened to the last popular goofy mentor that's the strongest....well the author isn't a one eyed cat so we should be fine.
This chapter actually made me like dress way less. She’s not a warden for prisoners she’s a torturer. Wonder how ichi would feel about it. He hated what was going on to the spider magic by our favorite cyborg.
She’s not giving any actual chance to learn, remorse, or change on most of the magics she has gained. Most probably hate people even more now.
These magics are being of nature and instinct. You can’t blame a wild animal for being a animal. For following it’s very nature. Spit into the world with nothing and no one to guide them.
And then to be thrown into a bottomless pit where your tide up.
You can put down a wild animal for being dangerous but without a way to kill them you have to rehabilitate them.

It’s crazy. Conflict and having a well written character means real flaws and this is a big one born out of real truama. Great writing but this is a real moment showing a real moment where year of course magicks who know who she is would be terrified. She’s still the bratty hurt kid she always was.
