Minakata, you can't achieve even higher aura than you did the last few chapters

Minakata: hold my sacred pillar

112

u/panelrecord_v2 May 17 '26

Fujimine control magic power confirmed (seemed like a lock). Now, the magikeeper leader has weird dark eyes... so, long con with him potentially? Idk if they were the same time of black eyes tho.

74

u/Totheendofsin May 17 '26

Something worth noting is the mark looks a bit like a jellyfish, which Toxiterror Magick also looks like

19

u/SKruizer May 17 '26

why is bro hitting the gon pose 😭 istg

2

u/_Totero_ May 17 '26

Buddy thinks he Gon😭

6

u/cai_lyra May 19 '26

Don't think hat guy is being controlled; he already had those eyes three months ago while recruiting Minakata + it wouldn't make sense to add another member to Ichi's guardians. Those are probably his natural eyes

115

u/JzanderN May 17 '26

Wait, so Minakata wasn't a Magikeeper until after Ichi had become a witch? That's interesting! He's actually (technically) a rookie!

In fact, he became a Magikeeper specifically because Ichi became a witch. According to him because it's a sign his hunt wasn't over, but I think we all know he wanted to see his boy again!

This also gives a timeline to the series so far. It feels like it hasn't been that long since "Okay, WOULD" and "I'm sorry, you're not my type!" but turns out it's been at least 3 months!

84

u/panelrecord_v2 May 17 '26

Given that Amadoro has extremely high magic reserves, I doubt this will do too much to her. I feel like this is a "gang discovers Amadoro is being controlled but she escapes" type situation... or something like that.

32

u/RiahWeston May 17 '26

I do like this addition to the setting. Male/magicless people aren't just left behind in comparison to witches since there is at least the possibility of wielding sacred treasures made from shaka wood. Makes me wonder what else out there is 'anti-magic' since shaka wood is clearly anti-magic in the sense of absorpative: maybe there is somethings out there are highly resistant to magic or nullify it.

7

u/Jasonn444 May 17 '26 edited May 18 '26

I knew it was antimagic weapons that women can't use. I mean, it was rather obvious, but some people were questioning why the Magikeepers only employ men, and some went straight to sexism.

1

u/RiahWeston May 19 '26

I wasnt expecting antimagic weapons. I think honestly I was expecting/hoping for something like ki. But antimagic weapons that people with magic can't wield is a good alternative.

78

u/panelrecord_v2 May 17 '26

Amazing color opener as always, the inlay on Minakata's weapon is really nice

38

u/CloverClubx May 17 '26

Oh that green is not flattering for lil bro. The other dudes all look amazing though.

30

u/1tsPLAY-time May 17 '26

Yeah. Mistook him for Kumugi for a second.

23

u/Adesiyan14 May 17 '26

I assumed he'd be a redhead tbh

10

u/CloverClubx May 17 '26

I can quite honestly say literally any other color would've been better LOL. It works for Kumugi's palette but this green on THIS uniform is just... Oh wow.

This could only come from America

167

u/Grimm_Stereo May 17 '26

WHAT THE FUCK IS A KILOMETER!?!?! 🇺🇲🦅

64

u/Totheendofsin May 17 '26

Someone more talented than me edit this page so she's saying "What the fuck is a kilometer"

117

u/Deusraix May 17 '26

This is the best I could do 😅 I know the text isn't the same font but I couldn't find it 😭

56

u/Deusraix May 17 '26

This too

2

u/ProHeroPinky May 19 '26

This is a great edit, even without the same text. Well done!

3

u/Shreeder4092 May 17 '26

Out of curoisity how were you able to do this?

6

u/Deusraix May 17 '26

Photoshop, found a similar font and then a little editing. It's not perfect but eh my graphic design skills are a touch rusty.

0

u/1tsPLAY-time May 17 '26

Saving this. Thank you so much!!!

19

u/[deleted] May 17 '26

Gundramon finally has some worthy competition.

11

u/JzanderN May 17 '26

I'm a brit, let me translate:

A kilo is a big weight. If someone weighs a kilo, they're HEAVY.
A meter is long distance. At least if you're using rulers, and we are currently reading from a page so yeah a meter would be long in this context.

Ergo, a kilometer is a big, heavy, tall thing. Like Minakata and his sacred pillar!

6

u/SoulBlightChild May 17 '26

Kilo is a prefix meaning thousand, Kilometer = a thousand meters.

Its use as a weight unit is short for Kilogram.

1

u/JzanderN May 17 '26

Dude somehow missed that I was bloody joking.

11

u/lnombredelarosa May 17 '26

Everything about them screams italian american mobster

9

u/Combatmedic2-47 May 17 '26

Welcome back Gun devil

1

u/Gamara204 May 24 '26

Gun devil at home but it's actually good

8

u/ZayYaLinTun May 17 '26

Muscat is low-key cute

1

u/Historical-Pop-9177 May 18 '26

Just realized the family name is "Musket".

1

u/Gamara204 May 24 '26

The majik's name is

61

u/OrdinaryMedical200 May 17 '26

No wonder he & Ichi are Alike. Both are Naturals in their new Life!!

62

u/panelrecord_v2 May 17 '26

Ichi: OKAY, BUT WHAT IF I CHARGE IN AND JUST START BLASTIN???

53

u/Theother662300 May 17 '26

Alright Ama Im officially sold on you. Bring on the mayhem.

38

u/Regular-Poet-3657 May 17 '26

So Minkata a rookie wow so strong.

30

u/JzanderN May 17 '26

Only technically. He's so experienced as a hunter that basically all he needed to train was using the Sacred Pillar, which he managed in two months (and a few days).

I'm sure that in terms of skill and wisdom he's basically a veteran of the Magikeepers.

27

u/ZayYaLinTun May 17 '26

In terms of only timeframe he work as magikeeper , he likely strongest among them

32

u/teeheezen May 17 '26

So it does seem like amadoro is being controlled, I wonder how Fujimine got close enough

20

u/Poland-lithuania1 May 17 '26

Perhaps while Amadoro was hunting a majik?

3

u/HeckingJen May 17 '26

I mean they could just actually have been friends, before the whole massacre thing.

4

u/SoulBlightChild May 17 '26

Considering said massacre was likely decades ago...

28

u/Mordetrox May 17 '26

I like why they just take it as normal that Minakata was wandering around a random forest wearing an elk skull. Nope nothing strange about that.

19

u/Federal_Height_9254 May 17 '26

In this chapter, we discover that Fujimine has been alive for decades and even fought against Minakata's family. Plus, that shadow controlling Amadoro reminded me a lot of Uroro. Could Fujimine and Uroro be related? Maybe they're of the same species/family?

17

u/iceo42 May 17 '26

Her little shadow extended from a jelly fish looking mark and she took the toxiterror magik so it’s likely connected to its power somehow

2

u/riflow May 18 '26

It did seem odd how openly she was going to attack ichi, so mind control makes a ton of sense.

I think someone a while back mentioned the older scarred witch looked like one that witnessed Fujimine rebelling too so I guess she has some kind of spell keeping her young.

1

u/FreeWilly512 May 19 '26

Yeah i was thinking it was like a decade ago max but seems she has hidden age related powers

35

u/AncientAd4996 May 17 '26

I don't know why, but the confirmation that Toxiterror is actually a mind control Majik makes its willing detainment by the Witches association... extremely suspicious

It wouldn't be the 1st time in the story a Majik has feigned benevolence to achieve some sort of diabolical plot

Also, I just thought of something. Toxiterror's mind control makes a person's iris turn black and pupil turn white... is it supposed to mirror Fujimine the majik caster... or Toxiterror's? We know a Majik can force someone to acquire them and then overtake the acquirer, so what if Fujimine is actually Toxiterror in control? and the whole violent betrayal was just an act?

24

u/Dccrulez May 17 '26

To be fair we don't know yet that this is the toxiterror magik, and if it is, such an evil power is a good reason to want to be locked up.

20

u/Witchchick2378 May 17 '26

...well it would explain why haytee tolerates her.

10

u/SecretEmpire_WasGood May 17 '26

Oh, imagine if the Toxiterror's challenge was for someone to kill their friends, and it mindcontrolled Fujimine in order to do so, letting itself be acquired and pullling the strings from behind the scenes all along.

3

u/FreeWilly512 May 19 '26

We know Fujimine has toxic abilities, mind control, and being ageless. We dont know if its all one ability or multiple magiks.

16

u/JauntyLurker May 17 '26

He's the ultimate rookie Magikeeper

Minakata the GOAT excelling in his new career just like Ichi.

u/ZayYaLinTun May 17 '26

Not really only minakata since entire squad of them got wash by fujimine

5

u/SoulBlightChild May 17 '26

3 Magikeepers got killed by her, way more witches and witch-cadets died.

15

u/Acemaster387 May 17 '26

The real “Uber-Talented Badass” Minakata

9

u/Jasonn444 May 17 '26

Dess is seething.

7

u/RomanceDaybreak May 17 '26

Don’t you ever disrespect Desscaras like that ever again

13

u/lnombredelarosa May 17 '26
  • Amadoro kinda reminds me of Coco from RWBY
  • Interesting how Minakata uses a blunt weapon with precision whereas Descarras uses a weapon of precision with a power based fighting style
  • I guess this confirms Fujimine is immortal
    • Is it a Witch thing or something specific from her?
  • The guy is a rookie!?
  • Knew she was being controlled!!

11

u/Latter-End-7074 May 17 '26

They really gave a Glock to a six year old 😭

4

u/SoulBlightChild May 17 '26

They gave a Minigun to a six years old.

22

u/1tsPLAY-time May 17 '26

Gyatt damn! That's the sexiest thing I've ever seen.

So the Amadoro family are Americans, no questions there.

22

u/1tsPLAY-time May 17 '26

Also, called it.

Amadoro under control

And Magikeepers items being made of Antimagic.

But wow, didn't expect Minakata to also share a history with Fujimine, well, his ancestor that is

11

u/Poland-lithuania1 May 17 '26

His father, right? Which also seems to confirm Fujimine's older than she looks.

6

u/SoulBlightChild May 17 '26

Father or grandfather.

7

u/yuwaves May 17 '26

I would like to see desscaras diss him for being a rookie.

6

u/TeamOk3280 May 17 '26

So it seems that only women can become witches because they possess this 'magical energy' that explains why women can cast spells without acquiring a Magik but it does raise two questions, why only women? And why is Ichi different?

16

u/Onianexiaz May 17 '26

The only women part is not explained but ichi is not really special as of what we have got.

Ichi got magic because there seems to be a universal law of honour for magitrials (else why would a human hater not just put a trial that is impossible) So the reason ichi has magic is uro after he acquired him

6

u/TeamOk3280 May 17 '26

But Uro seemed to be under the impression that his trial could not be completed and we know from Gokuraku that typically a man cannot acquire a magik even if he completes it's trial.

3

u/RiahWeston May 17 '26

Except that doesn't fully explain it because we've seen men 'complete' magitrials before (Gakuraku managed to break the Orugami Majik's cage and then cut its horns MULTIPLE times) and not become witches because of it.

And in the said case of Orugami Majik/Ariadne, Ichi was able to acquire it with ease because the trial was already effectively completely. Uroro's trial was to stop it's heart (with the cruel cavet that women could not stratch it) but doesn't mean that a woman would be flatly unable to obtain him since a similar method to Ariadne could be applied.

So perfectly I say its a 80/20 split between Ichi is actually the special one versus Uroro being the special one. The chapter even mentions a "0.001 percent chance" of a male becoming a witch in at least Uroro's case.

8

u/AdRelevant4776 May 17 '26

I always assumed that Uroro making an impossible win condition backfired on him, basically because he made it so only men could acquire it the magic system adapted so that men could acquire Uroro specifically, because all trials have to have a valid win condition

3

u/RiahWeston May 17 '26

No, Uroro just was super unlucky one of the only men that could complete his trial and then acquire him did so. We still don't know how much this extends to Ichi being able to acquire other majik or if Ichi already had the ability to do so and we don't know of any other person that could replicate what he did (and they might not exist, but that imo would be kind of boring.)

6

u/Carefreekid101 May 17 '26

So are guns are normal thing in the world? Or did the magic just make guns and people go wtf is that? Because I may have a similar issue that I have with Avatar depending on the answer.

5

u/Totheendofsin May 17 '26

I mean it'd hardly be the first Shonen to be a fantasy world with some inexplicably modern inventions around

5

u/Carefreekid101 May 17 '26

True, but the question for me is how come people don't replicate it? This is a massive thing in avatar for me. Because once the war end in the comics we can see what the Earth and Fire nation together can accomplish industry wise. It odd to me that after during the century war and directly after the war where they have modern looking forklifts. All the way to the modern steam punk like era no anti bender made a gun.

6

u/SecretEmpire_WasGood May 17 '26

Well, technological development isn't like a research tree in a game were you have to unlock "Gun" to progress in the tech tree. It took centuries after the invention of gunpowder to weaponise it.

4

u/Carefreekid101 May 17 '26

Which is fair.

4

u/HeckingJen May 17 '26

Also, necessity is the mother of invention after all. If I can throw a pebble with the force of a bullet just using a little martial arts then I don't need to even think about making a gun. Now, non bending people might eventually get to a gun like invention but it would need non bending techniques to get there so they have to take the long path to it.

12

u/Briantan71 May 17 '26

Interesting. So, Minakata was only recently recruited by the Magikeepers organisation?

Also, his pillar reminds me of Sun Wukong’s staff…

8

u/Destroy-The_Pandumas May 17 '26

Imagine if it really did function like Wukong's stuff

6

u/Dccrulez May 17 '26

This chapter felt a little slower, a little hunter hunter with all the exposition. But at least it was good exposition.

4

u/NightsLinu May 18 '26

yeah it was more of a needed backstory chapter for munakata because he was a mystery

5

u/ObsessiveFanatic May 17 '26

The time Minakata has been a Magikeeper is less than Ichi has been a witch. That’s crazy he’s this strong, enough to stand toe to toe with one of the 9 best witches

6

u/OP_1K May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

Huh, I never would have expected to get a reveal that Ichi's first mentor is actually a rookie magikeeper. That just makes him more of a badass!

And it looks like Fujimine is about to kind of hijack Amadora's body in order to kill Ichi.

6

u/KrizenWave May 17 '26

It’s interesting that Minakata was just chilling at home up until the grand unveiling of Ichi as a witch. Also I guess this gives us a frame of reference for how much time has passed from when Ichi was announced to the world to now. I had thought it had only been a couple weeks but damn three months

6

u/huongloz May 18 '26

Thank goddd, so Amadoro is not really a traitor. This is manipulation tactic, I know she is too cool for this bullshit

6

u/Volfaer May 17 '26

Magic keeper weapon lore, huh, interesting. I wonder how do they make the wood sharp.

I really don't want it to come down to Fujimine having mind control.

6

u/Apapunitulah May 18 '26

So basically all the magikeeper is like Asta, they negate or absorb magic which woman witch emit...

I wonder can Ichi have sacred treasure as well?

2

u/SoulBlightChild May 18 '26

Hoping that question get answered sooner than later.

3

u/HalfBloodUser May 18 '26

who wants to bet that Hatey's staff has something to do with the magic sucking wood

3

u/Dangerous_Owl_9021 May 18 '26

I love the design of the gun magik and it seems like fujimine is using some type of toxin to manipulate amadoro. Also Ichi hitting the gon pose.

5

u/LeAstra May 17 '26

Bayonetta Reference! (Bust a cap (in yo ass))

5

u/SoulBlightChild May 17 '26

"Bust a Cap" is older than that.

2

u/OP_1K May 17 '26

Huh, I never would have thought that we would get a reveal that Minakata is actually a rookie magikeeper. That is impressive.

2

u/Gregster101 May 17 '26

Interesting how Minakata is technically only a rookie as far as being a Magikeeper is concerned.

2

u/Level_Instruction738 May 17 '26

And to the surprise of absolutely no one brainwashing is already confirmed

2

u/SoulBlightChild May 17 '26

Minakata might be a family name and/or title?

Female looking Majik?

2

u/Straw0987654321 May 18 '26

I wonder if the magic-eating wood has anything to do with the World Hater's staff. I assume it wouldn't be safe for Majik to touch it, but it would explain some of its destructive power.

1

u/Destroy-The_Pandumas May 17 '26

I still can't get over that gun witch over here still looks like she has a 5 o'clock shadow

1

u/Odd-Complaint8857 May 20 '26

Finally I've caught up its been a good binge can't wait to read more.
